260: Chapter 26 Change Yourself
Shen Yan looked at Shen Ya with some suspicion.
Except for today, his communication with Shen Ya during this period had not been particularly smooth.
He didn't quite believe that Shen Ya could communicate smoothly with Wu Ya, whom she had just met, nor did he believe that Wu Ya could open Shen Ya's heart in one go.
"Really?"
"What did she talk to you about today?"
Shen Ya raised her eyebrows.
"Since you invited her, you should ask Wu Ya that question, not me."
Seeing that Shen Ya didn't want to say more, Shen Yan didn't press the issue.
He glanced at the time and realized it was already two-thirty in the morning.
"Alright, it's getting late, you should rest early."
"We can talk about anything else tomorrow."
After speaking, Shen Yan bent down, carried the sleeping Youyou back to her room, and then went to the bathroom in the master bedroom to wash up.
Seeing this, Shen Ya also returned to her room to wash up and go to sleep.
...
The next day, one-thirty in the afternoon.
"Ding ding ding ding ding ding!"
The alarm sounded incessantly by his ear.
Shen Yan frowned and opened his eyes.
"Ding ding ding ding ding ding!"
He picked up his phone, turned off the alarm, and then got up to check the time.
It was already one-thirty.
Gu Hui had scheduled their meeting for four o'clock in the afternoon.
If he got up, washed up, and then ate, he should make it just in time.
Thinking this, he got out of bed and walked into the bathroom to wash up.
By the time he finished washing up and changed his clothes, it was already two-ten.
"Creak..."
Opening the door, he saw Shen Ya teaching Youyou Pinyin.
"What is this called?"
"This is called 'ping' for apple!"
One person taught diligently, and the other learned earnestly.
The scene was incredibly heartwarming.
"Mr. Shen, would you like something to eat?"
Just as Shen Yan was watching the two of them, Aunt Li came over and asked in a low voice.
"Just get me some congee."
Shen Yan replied while walking over to the dining table and sitting down.
At the same time, Shen Ya also noticed he was out. She closed the Pinyin book and said to Youyou, "That's enough for now, let's take a half-hour break."
As soon as the words fell, Youyou cheered up toward the ceiling and ran directly into Shen Yan's arms.
"Daddy!"
Shen Yan smiled in response, picked Youyou up, and placed her on his lap.
"What Pinyin did Youyou learn today?"
Youyou raised her little finger and answered Shen Yan, "I learned the Pinyin for apple, I learned the Pinyin for banana, and I learned the Pinyin for strawberry..."
Shen Yan listened to Youyou's chatter while scooping spoonfuls of congee into his mouth.
By the time Youyou finished talking, he had almost finished eating too.
He put down the bowl in his hand, patted Youyou on the back, and said, "Alright, Daddy has to go to work now. We'll chat tonight."
Youyou pouted slightly in dissatisfaction.
"But Daddy comes home really late recently. Every time you come back, I'm already asleep. And last night, a lot of people suddenly came into our house."
The 'lot of people' Youyou referred to were the police.
The thought of last night's events still made Shen Yan's heart pound.
He pinched Youyou's cheek and said to her:
"Then Daddy will come home early today, I promise to talk with Youyou, okay?"
Youyou was very sensible. She knew Shen Yan wasn't coming home late on purpose; it was because he had too much work, which is why he couldn't come home early.
"Okay. Actually, Daddy, it's fine even if you come home a little late. You just need to take one day off to go out and play with me."
Seeing how sensible Youyou was, Shen Yan couldn't help but pinch her cheek again.
"Okay, whatever Youyou says goes. When Daddy has time, Daddy will take you to the amusement park to play."
Youyou happily agreed.
The chat ended.
Shen Yan glanced at the time.
It was almost three o'clock now; he had to hurry out the door to make his four o'clock appointment.
He grabbed his keys and rushed toward the door in a flurry, starting to put on his shoes.
Just as he put on his shoes and was preparing to leave, Shen Ya suddenly appeared behind him and handed him his briefcase.
"You forgot to bring this."
Hearing this, Shen Yan paused for a moment, then smiled and said to Shen Ya, "I'm not going to the company today; I'm meeting someone, so I don't need this."
After speaking, he added to Shen Ya, "Thank you for getting my briefcase for me."
Shen Ya's face flushed, and she said somewhat awkwardly, "Why are you thanking me? I just suddenly saw your briefcase was still on the table."
After speaking, she glanced at the time and added, "Aren't you in a hurry to leave? Hurry up and go!"
Seeing Shen Ya's awkward demeanor, Shen Yan knew she was definitely embarrassed about having cried her eyes out in front of him last night.
"Mm, then I'm leaving. You stay home. If you get bored, you can go out. If you want to look for a job, you can do that too; I won't interfere with you."
As his words finished.
Shen Ya froze for a second.
She hadn't expected Shen Yan to actually take her words to heart, changing his previous fixed mindset and adjusting toward the way of interaction she desired.
This change delighted her, yet inexplicably brought a touch of sourness to her heart.
Just as she didn't know how to respond to Shen Yan, he picked up his keys and left.
She looked at Shen Yan's retreating back as he left the doorway and whispered quietly, "Okay, Brother..."
Shen Yan, who had already left the house, didn't hear Shen Ya's words.
He had already called a car before leaving, so as soon as he stepped out the door, he got in and headed to the location he had arranged with Gu Hui.
One hour later.
He appeared exactly on time at the entrance of a coffee shop.
"Jingle!"
As soon as he went in, he saw Gu Hui sitting by the window.
The moment he saw Gu Hui, Gu Hui also saw him.
Gu Hui waved a hand toward him in greeting.
He also nodded toward the other person, walked over, and sat down in front of him.
"Why did you choose to meet here?"
Hearing Shen Yan's question, Gu Hui blinked and said to him, "Don't young people like you all like to discuss things in coffee shops?"
Shen Yan was silent for a moment before replying, "That's true, but... I thought you would suggest meeting at the office building or some other place."
Gu Hui smiled slightly.
"I originally thought so, but I felt that since I was talking with a young person, I should naturally accommodate the young person's preferences."
Saying this, he snapped his fingers to call the Waitress.
"I want a Matcha Latte, and then..."
Shen Yan interjected, "I just want an Iced Americano."
Gu Hui nodded, "Then one Matcha Latte, and one Iced Americano."
The Waitress respectfully said, "Certainly."
After speaking, the Waitress walked away.
Shen Yan asked, "Chairman Gu, what did you want to discuss with me today?"
Hearing Shen Yan's question, Gu Hui replied to Shen Yan, "You don't need to be nervous. I'm not here to discuss anything serious."
