90: Chapter 9 Youyou Goes Missing?
"Why don't I hire someone else to go with you guys?"
Liu Hui frowned, pretending to be angry.
"You've asked me this several times. I said I can go alone!"
"No way! Stop messing with me here, go do your own thing."
As she spoke, she pushed Shen Yan into the study.
Shen Yan kept looking back: "Do you really not need my help? I can actually help you..."
Liu Hui interrupted him directly.
"I don't need it! I've almost finished organizing. I can handle the rest myself!"
Shen Yan was simply too worried.
She was afraid that if this continued, Shen Yan would move the entire house out for her.
Seeing Liu Hui's insistence, Shen Yan didn't say anything more.
Before entering the study, he poked his head out: "Alright, if you need any help, remember to come in and tell me, and I'll help you pack!"
Liu Hui waved her hand to show she understood.
Sitting at the computer desk, Shen Yan placed his hands on the keyboard, his mind uneasy.
Originally, the matter of his sister going abroad for treatment should have been exciting news, but because he couldn't accompany her abroad, he constantly felt a sense of worry.
He spaced out for a long time.
He finally stood up and walked outside.
When Liu Hui saw him come out again, the expression on her face turned helpless.
"What's wrong?"
"Are you that worried about me?"
Shen Yan walked forward, hugged Liu Hui, and buried his head in the crook of her shoulder.
"I don't know..."
"I'm just very worried about you and Xiaoya. Why don't I go abroad with you guys? I'll have Old Chen and Xiao Wu look after the company for me."
Liu Hui rejected the suggestion without thinking.
"You are the boss of the company. If you are not here during this critical time, it will inevitably distract the Employees."
"Trust me, I will handle all of this for you."
Saying that, she turned and hugged Shen Yan, patting his back.
"Be good. Leave this matter to me; I will definitely bring your sister back safely."
Shen Yan nodded and said no more.
In the evening, the two drove to the airport.
Shen Yan helped Liu Hui put down her luggage.
"Just send me here; I'll go by myself from now on."
Shen Yan's expression was serious as he shook his head and refused.
"I'll take you to the check-in counter."
Liu Hui was unwilling.
"Your Employees are all working overtime at the company; you should hurry back to them..."
Before she could finish speaking, Shen Yan grabbed the luggage and walked straight into the airport.
"Even if I have work, it won't be for this short while. Why are you more concerned about my work than I am?"
Liu Hui was at a loss whether to laugh or cry.
It wasn't that she was worried about Shen Yan's work; she didn't want Shen Yan to have too much psychological burden.
Since Shen Yan insisted on seeing her off, then so be it. After all, just as Shen Yan said, it wasn't worth losing that much time over.
After waiting for about half an hour, Liu Hui finally finished the baggage check-in process.
Just as she was about to enter the boarding area, Shen Yan pulled Liu Hui's hand and kissed her on the lips.
"Have a safe trip, and take care of yourself."
Liu Hui nodded with a flushed face and turned to go through security.
Only when Liu Hui's figure disappeared from his sight did Shen Yan turn and leave.
Just as he walked out of the airport.
Shen Yan's phone rang.
It was an unknown number.
After hesitating for a few seconds, he answered the call.
"Waaah! Daddy, where are you?"
Hearing the familiar voice, Shen Yan asked in disbelief: "Youyou? Is that you?!"
Youyou sobbed and replied: "Daddy, where are you? Can you come and pick me up?"
His heart felt like it was drumming. Shen Yan took a deep breath to keep himself calm.
"Youyou, where are you right now? Is there an adult next to you?"
"Or is there any landmark building next to you?"
Youyou was still too young and didn't understand what a landmark building was.
"I don't know where I am right now, and there's no adult next to me. Daddy, I'm so scared..."
Shen Yan frowned and asked:
"Then where is Mommy? Where is Mommy?"
Youyou's voice instantly quieted down.
"I don't know where Mommy is either. I came out to find you, but I don't know the way home, and I don't know where you are, Daddy..."
Before the last word fell.
The call was hung up.
Shen Yan's hands trembled as he dialed back, only to find the phone turned off.
Hearing the automated voice indicating the phone was off, Shen Yan was nearly scared to death.
He closed his eyes, squatted down, took a few deep breaths, and shakily dialed the police emergency number.
"Hello, is this the police station? My daughter is lost..."
...
At the police station.
Chen Ling and Yang Jin arrived late.
"What happened? Where is my daughter?"
If it weren't for the police being present, Shen Yan would have exploded at the two of them.
He said in a deep voice, questioning Chen Ling word by word: "You still have the nerve to ask? Aren't you the one who should be asked about this matter the most?"
A flash of guilt crossed Chen Ling's face.
"I don't know what you're talking about. Youyou was at home the whole time..."
The police interrupted her directly.
"Let's not talk too much for now. Do you recognize this phone number?"
Chen Ling leaned over to look and shook her head.
"No, why?"
The police said solemnly: "The last call your daughter made was from this number. We are currently locating the information for this number."
Chen Ling nodded.
Suddenly, as if she remembered something, she took out her own phone from her pocket.
"Wait a moment..."
"I found it. Take a look and see if these two numbers are the same."
The police took her phone and carefully compared them.
"They are indeed the same. This phone number is...?"
Chen Ling explained: "This is a new SIM card I got for my daughter. It's inserted into her smartwatch, so the last call should have been made from my daughter's smartwatch."
Hearing this, the police looked disgusted.
"As a mother, how can you not even remember your own child's phone number?"
"No wonder your daughter called her daddy. Forget it, since this call was made from your daughter's smartwatch, then we won't investigate it further."
"Do you know the last place your daughter was seen?"
Chen Ling paused, dodging the police officer's gaze.
"Probably... probably at home."
"Smack!"
Shen Yan slammed the phone in his hand onto the table.
"What do you mean, 'probably at home'?!"
"Youyou was with you; shouldn't you remember her itinerary at all times?!"
A hint of impatience flashed in Chen Ling's eyes. She pointed at Shen Yan and yelled: "What are you throwing a tantrum at me for? Don't I have work to do? We have a Nanny at home; what's wrong with me letting the Nanny watch Youyou?!"
"If you're so capable, take Youyou back and look after her yourself!"
Shen Yan let out a cold laugh.
"I'd like to take Youyou back, but would you agree?"
