586: Chapter 581 Guaranteeing Mission Completion
Shen Ya's question lingered in the air for a moment without receiving a more detailed answer.
She looked at her brother's expressionless profile and wisely chose not to press further.
She knew that if Shen Yan didn't want to say something, no one could force it out of him.
He had his own plans.
The next morning.
The sky was just beginning to lighten.
Shen Yan had already finished his morning exercises, taken a shower, and changed into a crisp suit.
When he went downstairs, Grandma Liu had already prepared breakfast.
Youyou was still asleep.
Shen Yan sat alone at the dining table and quickly finished his breakfast.
"Grandma, I'm going back to the company today. I won't be back for lunch."
"Very well, Sir. Please drive carefully on the road."
Shen Yan nodded, picked up the coat draped over the back of the chair, and walked out of the villa.
The black Cullinan slid silently out of the garage and merged into the gradually awakening city traffic.
This was his first time returning to the company since coming back from Desert City.
There must be a lot of backlog.
When Shen Yan stepped through the company entrance, the girl at the reception desk abruptly stood up, a trace of nervousness on her face.
"Mr... Good morning, CEO Shen!"
Shen Yan didn't stop walking, merely giving a slight nod.
He could feel that the atmosphere in the company was not right.
The usually busy yet orderly office area was currently permeated with a suppressed, turbulent aura.
Many Employees were whispering at their workstations, but upon seeing him approach, they immediately scattered like startled rabbits, burying their heads in front of their screens.
His brow furrowed almost imperceptibly.
Before he even reached his office, he heard a fierce argument coming from the conference room.
One of the voices was very familiar to him.
It was Chen Guangke.
"No! I do not agree with this plan! The risk is too great!"
Another somewhat sharp voice immediately retorted.
"CEO Chen, you are stifling innovation! Isn't the purpose of our Software Development Department to do things no one else in the industry dares to attempt?"
"Innovation is not recklessness! Wang Hao, if the underlying architecture of your 'Sky Vault' system collapses, the entire project will be finished! Can you bear that responsibility?"
"Risk and reward coexist! If we use mature, old technology, at best we'll create a second-rate product and forever be eating dust behind others!"
Shen Yan pushed open the conference room door.
The argument inside stopped abruptly.
The core members of the Software Development Department were seated around the large conference table, everyone looking toward the doorway.
Chen Guangke's face was flushed, his chest heaving violently.
Opposite him stood a man in his early thirties wearing black-rimmed glasses, looking unconvinced.
This must be Wang Hao, the team leader of Software Group One, a technical fanatic.
"CEO Shen."
When Chen Guangke saw Shen Yan, he seemed to find his anchor, but his tone carried a hint of annoyance, as if he didn't want Shen Yan to witness this chaotic scene.
The others also stood up one after another, respectfully calling out, "CEO Shen."
Shen Yan walked in and casually draped his coat over the back of the main chair.
He did not sit down.
He simply surveyed the room.
"Continue."
His voice was not loud, but it carried an undeniable pressure.
"What were you discussing just now?"
The conference room fell into dead silence.
No one dared to speak first.
Shen Yan's gaze landed on Wang Hao.
"You speak."
Wang Hao pushed up his glasses and took a deep breath, seemingly gathering his courage.
"CEO Shen, we are discussing the framework selection for the underlying structure of the 'Sky Vault' project. I advocate using the latest 'Star Ring' architecture. It can increase our computational efficiency by at least thirty percent and possesses infinite possibilities for future functional expansion."
As he spoke, he excitedly turned on the projector.
"However, CEO Chen believes that the 'Star Ring' architecture was only launched less than half a year ago, its stability has not been verified by the market, and the risk is too high. He insists on using the 'Bedrock' framework, which has been iterated upon for five years."
Chen Guangke supplemented in a deep voice.
"Although 'Bedrock' is less efficient, its strength lies in stability. 'Sky Vault' is our company's most important project this year, the cornerstone of our future Artificial Intelligence layout, and cannot afford any loss."
Shen Yan listened quietly.
He walked to the whiteboard, picked up a marker.
"The core logic of 'Star Ring' is based on distributed computing power reorganization, correct?"
Wang Hao was startled, then nodded vigorously, "Yes! CEO Shen, you are also familiar with it?"
Shen Yan didn't answer him, but continued to draw a simple structural diagram on the whiteboard.
"Its advantage is speed and flexibility. But its disadvantage is equally fatal."
The tip of his marker heavily tapped one node on the diagram.
"The data redundancy backup mechanism is not sufficiently robust. Once a single node is subjected to high-intensity attack or encounters a BUG, it will contaminate the entire data chain within 0.3 seconds, causing a chain collapse."
A fine layer of sweat broke out on Wang Hao's forehead.
These were the potential risks he hadn't included in the report.
He thought that no one besides the few core developers would understand this.
Shen Yan turned around and looked at him.
"I ask you, what is your contingency plan for this problem?"
"I... we can set up an external firewall..." Wang Hao's voice trailed off.
"Not enough."
Shen Yan interrupted him directly.
"This is equivalent to putting a sponge in front of a brake-less race car at the finish line. It's meaningless."
The air in the conference room seemed to freeze.
Everyone looked at Shen Yan.
This boss, who usually only cared about results, actually understood technical details more thoroughly than the frontline developers.
A look of surprise also appeared on Chen Guangke's face.
Shen Yan put down the marker.
"Guang Ke's idea is correct. The cornerstone must be stable."
Wang Hao's face instantly fell.
"However,"
Shen Yan shifted his tone, "If we only seek stability, the company will die."
Chen Guangke was also stunned.
Shen Yan walked to the conference table and lightly tapped his fingers on the tabletop.
"The 'Sky Vault' project will be split."
"The core database and computation center will use the 'Bedrock' framework. CEO Chen Guangke will be fully responsible. Wang Hao, you will lead one group to cooperate. Within three months, I want to see a prototype."
"Simultaneously, an 'Star Ring' Project Assault Group will be established."
His gaze fell on Wang Hao again.
"You will lead it. I'll give you two months. I won't ask you for a product; I only need you to solve one problem."
"The chain collapse of the data link."
"Tell me what personnel you need. Write a report for what equipment you need. The budget has no ceiling."
He looked at everyone, his voice turning cold.
"Two months from now, if you solve it, you will be the General Manager in charge of the 'Sky Vault' Phase Two project. If you cannot solve it, you will report to the Logistics Department with your people."
"Any more questions?"
The entire conference room was dead silent.
Flames reignited in Wang Hao's eyes—a frantic light of someone pushed to the brink yet seeing hope.
"None! I guarantee completion of the task!"
