262: Chapter 262 Personnel Issues
"I believe in you. You have the ability to handle everything."
"To be frank, I investigated you. You were outstanding even in college. Not only did you research many software programs and applications that are still very popular today, but you also relied on your own skills to start a publicly listed company."
"After suffering betrayal, you didn't wallow in despair but instead climbed back to where you are now step by step. I believe someone with such capability wouldn't be unable to manage something as simple as balancing work."
Shen Yan: "..."
So, did this Gu Hui truly admire him? Otherwise, why was every word praise for him?
Thinking this, he also politely flattered the other person in return.
"Although I don't know you very well, for Chairman Gu to reach his current position, and to be at the forefront of the Artificial Intelligence field, your ability must not be inferior to mine."
Gu Hui shook his head.
"I am different from you. I didn't start from scratch empty-handed, nor did I found a company based on technology."
Shen Yan laughed.
"There is a master in every trade. Even if the way one achieves fame is different, it shouldn't negate anyone's ability, right?"
Hearing this, Gu Hui showed a look of agreement.
"That is indeed the case."
Shen Yan glanced at the time; it was only four-thirty. It was too early for dinner, but he didn't know what else he should discuss with Gu Hui.
So, he proactively asked Gu Hui, "I already understand your intention to cooperate. Is there anything else? If there's nothing else, I'll head back."
Leaving so early?
Gu Hui was a bit reluctant to let Shen Yan go just yet. This was because he still couldn't tell whether Shen Yan intended to cooperate with him or not. He wanted to chat with Shen Yan a bit longer to gauge his true interest in cooperation.
"You probably haven't eaten yet. Why don't we go grab something?"
Shen Yan declined.
"No, thank you. I ate before I left, and it’s still early; it’s not time for dinner yet."
Seeing that Shen Yan was unwilling to stay with him any longer, Gu Hui didn't press the issue.
"Alright, it seems you are indeed very busy. Then you should go back."
Hearing this, Shen Yan nodded, stood up, said goodbye to Gu Hui, and left the coffee shop.
As soon as he stepped out of the coffee shop door, he called Chen Guangke.
"Where are you right now?"
Chen Guangke made a 'tsk' sound and replied to Shen Yan, "Isn't that an obvious question? It's working hours. Where else would I be besides the company?"
Shen Yan smiled and replied to Chen Guangke, "Then take the company car out to pick me up."
Chen Guangke frowned and asked, "Where are you now? Can't you just take a taxi over?"
Shen Yan replied, "I can, but I don't want to take a taxi. Those cars smell too bad."
Hearing him say that, Chen Guangke had no choice but to agree.
"Fine, then send me your current location, and I'll drive the company car over."
After speaking, Chen Guangke hung up the phone.
Half an hour later.
A Volkswagen stopped outside the convenience store next to the coffee shop.
"Old Shen!"
Chen Guangke rolled down the window and called out to Shen Yan, who was scrolling on his phone by the convenience store entrance.
Hearing the voice, Shen Yan turned to look, put away his phone, and walked toward the car.
"That was fast?"
He asked while opening the passenger door to get in.
Chen Guangke tossed a bag into the back seat and replied irritably, "It's only because you kept rushing me!"
"If you hadn't kept urging me, I would have gone to the lab first."
Shen Yan buckled his seatbelt, turned to Chen Guangke, and asked, "What were you going to the lab for?"
Chen Guangke replied, "Didn't you ask me to recruit an assistant for Jiang Yuan? Quite a few people applied. I wanted him to choose for himself."
After speaking, Chen Guangke stepped on the accelerator.
Shen Yan: "Then let's go together."
Chen Guangke: "You're coming too?"
Shen Yan: "Can't I?"
Chen Guangke shook his head. "It's not that you can't. I thought you were going to the company first to handle the matters at Chenghu."
The reason he said this was because Shen Yan had devoted all his energy to Fuchen Enterprise recently, neglecting the Branch Company, Chenghu, which led to some minor HR issues internally.
"Chenghu isn't urgent right now."
Hearing this, Chen Guangke turned to look at Shen Yan with some surprise.
"I truly admire you. The manager from Chenghu caused trouble all the way here, and you still say it's not urgent."
Shen Yan shrugged and replied, "As long as the projects aren't having problems, it's fine. Besides, this issue isn't something I can solve just by going to the Branch Company."
The HR issue at Chenghu Company stemmed from chaos in internal company relationships and job roles.
Chenghu Company started as a small studio.
At that time, in order to quickly launch a profitable project, they recruited many technical talents. They didn't pay much attention to HR management and finance management.
After they all moved to Fuchen Enterprise, they neglected Chenghu Company even more.
Without a leader, coupled with the confusion in company roles and structure, the relationships among the personnel at Chenghu finally became chaotic.
The technical talents believed their company relied on technology for its success, and HR and Finance couldn't be placed above them. The HR and Finance Employees believed their work was extremely important, and technical talents couldn't act recklessly and do whatever they pleased.
The conflict in their perspectives led to a conflict in job roles.
The contradiction intensified.
Eventually, the matter reached Shen Yan.
"So, how do you plan to handle it?"
Chen Guangke asked Shen Yan while driving toward the lab.
Honestly, he was very curious how Shen Yan would deal with this situation.
Shen Yan pondered for a moment before replying to Chen Guangke:
"This issue is actually my fault. If I hadn't properly handled the follow-up work before I left, the internal relationships at Chenghu wouldn't have become so irreconcilable by now."
Hearing this, Chen Guangke was a bit speechless.
"Why do you like to take responsibility for everything?"
"If you ask me, this is purely their own problem. If they were a bit smarter and both took a step back, this issue wouldn't have escalated to the point where it's either you or me that has to go."
Saying this, he suddenly felt a headache coming on.
"Do you think we'll have to lay people off again then?"
"Ugh, so annoying. I hate layoffs the most. Every time there are layoffs, I have to calculate all sorts of trivial things, and then I have to talk to those who are laid off."
"Every time those laid-off people hear the news, their faces turn incredibly pale..."
Shen Yan interrupted Chen Guangke.
"Don't worry, there won't be any layoffs."
