675: Chapter 67 Welcome to the Team
Wu Ya continued speaking.
"Lawyer Finch's team predicts they can hold out for six more hours at most."
"After six hours, the Bank's debt collection calls will completely break them."
"Should we initiate our B-Plan now?"
The B-Plan was for Su Mei's 'Soul Hunter' team to anonymously email each Board of Directors member's 'little secrets' to their respective spouses and business rivals.
That would be more effective than the lawsuit.
Shen Yan shook his head.
"No need."
"Killing them isn't necessary; wounding their spirit is enough."
"Leave them some dignity."
He looked at Evelyn.
"After all, that was the place you once worked."
Evelyn remained silent.
She never imagined Shen Yan would consider her feelings.
This man acted like a thunderbolt, yet deep down, he seemed to retain a shred of warmth.
Four hours later.
Chen Guangke called again.
"Mr. Shen, they can't hold on any longer."
"Marcus Thorne is requesting another call; he says they are willing to accept any of our terms."
Shen Yan's tone remained level.
"Have Wu Ya and the lawyers handle the negotiation."
"Tell them I'm increasing the acquisition price by another five percent."
"Consider it money for their coffins."
Chen Guangke on the other end paused for a moment, then chuckled softly.
"Understood."
The video conference connected.
On the screen, Marcus Thorne and the other directors looked haggard, as if they had aged ten years in an instant.
Wu Ya sat at the negotiation table, with Finch and his legal team behind her.
She wasted no time on pleasantries and immediately shared a new agreement on the screen.
"This is the final offer."
"Shenyan Group will acquire one hundred percent of Quantum Leap Dynamics Company's equity at a price of $13.70 per share."
"The total price is 3.4 billion US dollars."
"Upon signing the agreement, all lawsuits against the Board of Directors will be withdrawn."
"You have one hour to consider."
Marcus Thorne looked at the price and gave a bitter smile.
Three days ago, Quantum Leap's market capitalization was 45 billion.
Now, it wasn't even a fraction of that.
He attempted one last struggle.
"Ms. Wu, the company's patent library, our top Engineers..."
Wu Ya cut him off, her voice cool.
"Mr. Thorne, regarding patents, we have Dr. Evelyn Reed."
"As for the Engineers, our Human Resources department has already received over two hundred job applications from Quantum Leap Dynamics Company in the last twelve hours."
"You have nothing left."
That final sentence completely destroyed Marcus's psychological defenses.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
When he opened them again, only endless defeat remained.
"We agree."
Half an hour later.
All electronic documents were signed.
A 'whale swallowing' that shocked the G Valley concluded silently.
Chen Guangke's voice held a hint of excitement.
"Mr. Shen, the whale is in the net."
Shen Yan slowly set down his coffee cup. He turned and faced Evelyn Reed.
"From this moment on, Quantum Leap Dynamics Company belongs to you."
"You can dispose of it as you wish—dissolve it or rebuild it."
"Its name, its future, are yours to define."
Evelyn looked at Shen Yan. Sunlight streamed through the glass window onto her face. Something in her blue eyes was melting, and something else was reigniting.
She did not say thank you.
She only asked.
"How much did it cost you to buy it?"
Shen Yan considered for a moment.
"3.4 billion US dollars."
"Including legal and public relations fees, nearly 3.5 billion."
Evelyn nodded.
"I will create 350 billion in value for you over ten years."
"No."
Shen Yan smiled.
"What I want is not 350 billion."
He held up one finger.
"I want you to help me usher in an era worth a trillion."
"A true Artificial Intelligence era."
In the Boston morning, sunlight passed through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the Ritz-Carlton hotel, casting dappled shadows on the carpet.
The air still held the mellow fragrance of last night's coffee and the calm after the smoke cleared from a silent war.
Evelyn Reed stood by the window, watching the heavy traffic below.
Overnight, her world had been turned upside down.
From a scientist ruthlessly abandoned by capital, she had become a queen who struck down her enemies and commanded a company once valued in the tens of billions.
The man who granted her all this was currently sitting leisurely on the sofa, flipping through a morning paper from Country H.
It was as if last night's 3.5 billion dollar acquisition was nothing more than watching a late-night movie to him.
Shen Yan put down the paper.
"Wu Ya and the legal team will handle the handover of Quantum Leap."
"You can rest for a few days, adjust to the time difference, and then return to Country H."
Evelyn turned around, her blue eyes searching.
"Return to Country H?"
Shen Yan nodded.
"Do you remember what I told you about my AI studio, janus?"
"Those young people are very talented and very driven, but they lack a true leader."
"They are like standing on a gold mine but only knowing how to dig with the most primitive hoes."
He looked at Evelyn.
"And you, Evelyn, you hold the most advanced drilling platform of this era."
"I need you to go back and teach them a lesson."
This time, Evelyn did not hesitate in the slightest.
Her previous refusal was because she still considered herself a salaried employee.
Now that Shen Yan had given her a kingdom, she needed to train the most elite army for him and for herself.
"Good."
Her reply was a single word, clean and decisive.
Shen Yan smiled and dialed Wu Ya's extension.
"Wu Ya, come up here for a moment."
A few minutes later, Wu Ya, dressed in sharp professional attire, knocked and entered.
Her gaze swept over Shen Yan and Evelyn, carrying a barely perceptible scrutiny that was quickly masked by perfect professionalism.
"Mr. Shen."
Shen Yan pointed to Evelyn.
"Let me introduce Dr. Evelyn Reed. Starting today, she will be fully responsible for all R&D in the AI field at Shenyan Group."
"Quantum Leap Dynamics Company will be reorganized into her personal laboratory."
"Furthermore, she will also serve as the Chief Consultant for the janus Studio."
Wu Ya's pupils contracted almost imperceptibly.
This appointment carried immense weight.
It was almost like handing the future lifeline of Shenyan Group into the hands of this blonde woman.
But she didn't ask why.
She merely extended her hand toward Evelyn, a perfectly measured smile on her face.
"Dr. Reed, hello. I am Wu Ya, the current head of janus Studio."
"Welcome to the team."
