136: Chapter 136 So No Man is Interested in You

At the end of the first half, Commerce Class 1 was leading by fifteen or sixteen points.

Chen Fan sat on the sidelines drinking water. Liu Zhipeng leaned over and nudged him with his elbow: "Hey, have you noticed? Most of the girls on the sidelines are looking at you today."

Chen Fan screwed the cap back on his bottle and said casually: "Let them look."

"Is that your only reaction?" Liu Zhipeng widened his eyes.

Wang Lei laughed: "He has a girlfriend. Do you think he's like you, single for twenty years and unable to walk straight the moment he sees a girl?"

"When am I unable to walk straight?" Liu Zhipeng said anxiously, "I'm just observing, do you understand? Observing!"

Zhang Yuhang silently took a sip of water nearby, not participating in the conversation.

In the second half, Chen Fan only played for seven or eight minutes before being subbed out. The score lead was too large; there was no need to go back in.

He sat on the sidelines, watching his teammates play, occasionally shouting "Defend" or "Rebound".

The girls on the sidelines didn't have any special reaction when he left the court; they just kept chatting and looking at their phones as usual.

However, Zhao Zitong walked over, sat down next to him, and handed him a bottle of water: "You played quite steadily today."

"The other side isn't strong, no need to go all out." Chen Fan took the water.

The game ended, and Commerce Class 1 easily secured their second victory.

Chen Fan stood up, draped a towel over his shoulders, and walked toward the sidelines.

In the blink of an eye, two weeks passed.

Commerce Class 1, where Chen Fan was, went from victory to victory, defeating the Accounting Class, HR Class, and Information Management Class one after another, unstoppable as they took first place in the School of Management Freshman Cup basketball tournament.

Next, they would represent the School of Management to play against other schools.

While it was described as "going from victory to victory," the actual process was far less thrilling than those four words sounded.

To put it bluntly, the basketball skill level of the various classes in the School of Management was just a bunch of newbies pecking at each other. There were very few who actually knew how to play.

Most team members were just dragged in to make up the numbers after having touched a basketball twice during high school PE class.

But Chen Fan was different.

He possessed basketball skills at a professional starter level, combined with the super-strong physical fitness granted by the system. Standing among these people, it was like an adult playing with children.

Except for his height advantage, which wasn't that significant, his strength, speed, jumping ability, and technique were all overwhelming.

And after so many games, Chen Fan had never used his full strength.

He hadn't even played seriously.

He averaged less than twenty minutes per game, with over twenty points per game.

Ever since the first game was won, the number of female classmates from the class coming to watch the games every afternoon visibly increased.

During the first game, there were only four or five girls scattered on the sidelines, most of whom were dragged there by Zhao Zitong to make up the numbers.

Later, there were more and more, and by the last game, more than half of the girls in the class had come.

With more female classmates, the atmosphere became lively. There were enthusiastic cheers from outside the court.

The last game on Friday finished, and it was already past four in the afternoon.

Chen Fan returned home, took a shower, and changed into clean clothes. The hot water washed away his sweat and the excitement from the game.

He came out of the bathroom wiping his hair and glanced at his phone—it was just past five.

He picked up his phone and sent a message to Lin Xi.

"What are you doing?"

The message was sent, but there was no reply for a while. Chen Fan stared at the screen, waiting and waiting, but the phone remained quiet; there was no "read" notification, nor did any message pop back.

He wasn't anxious; he lay on the sofa, preparing to rest for a while, when his phone suddenly vibrated, and the name "Xixi" lit up on the screen.

He swiped to answer.

"Hello, Xixi."

Lin Xi's voice came from the other end of the line, soft and carrying the slight relaxation of having just come out of class: "I was in class just now, and my phone was on silent, so I didn't see the message."

"Are you out of class now?"

"Yes, I'm just about to go to the cafeteria with my roommates to eat."

Chen Fan leaned back on the sofa, thought for a moment, and said: "How about not eating at the cafeteria? I'll come to your university in a bit, and we two can go eat outside."

Inside Changan University.

Lin Xi was walking along the main road toward the cafeteria with several girls, holding her phone to her ear.

Hearing Chen Fan say he wanted to eat outside, she paused slightly and subconsciously glanced at her roommates, who were chatting and laughing beside her.

The one with short hair was tilting her head, looking at her, her eyes full of the words "Who is calling?"

Lin Xi hesitated for a second, but finally nodded: "Alright."

"Okay, then I'll come over right away." Chen Fan hung up after saying that.

Lin Xi took the phone away from her ear; the screen was still lit, displaying the words "Call Ended".

The short-haired girl next to her immediately leaned in, her eyes sparkling: "Xixi, was that your boyfriend calling?"

"Mm." Lin Xi pursed her lips, looked at them a bit shyly, "I was just about to tell you... Um, you guys go to the cafeteria; I have something to do, so I won't go."

As soon as she finished speaking, the three girls stopped in unison, their faces simultaneously showing a meaningful smile.

"Ooh—" the short-haired girl drew out her tone, "Xixi is going to have a candlelight dinner with her boyfriend."

Another long-haired girl wearing glasses joined in the teasing: "Poor us, without boyfriends, we can only go eat the cafeteria's mass-produced food."

"Exactly, exactly, how miserable."

Lin Xi's face flushed slightly from their banter, and she couldn't help but laugh: "Is it that miserable?"

"Yes!" the three of them said in unison.

The short-haired girl changed the subject, leaning closer: "By the way, Xixi, when will you let us meet your boyfriend? You've been hiding him for so long."

"Yeah," the girl with glasses agreed, "I wonder which guy is so outstanding that he could win over our Xixi."

Lin Xi couldn't handle their questions, took a half-step back, and waved her hands: "Oh, you'll see him when there's a chance later. I'm leaving first—"

After saying that, she turned and left.

"Hey—" the short-haired girl called out from behind, "Xixi, why are you running toward the dormitory? Aren't you going to see your boyfriend?"

As soon as she finished speaking, the girl with glasses rolled her eyes and nudged her with her elbow: "Dummy, don't you need to change clothes and put on makeup before seeing your boyfriend?"

The short-haired girl looked down at the wrinkled sweatshirt she was wearing, then looked at the girl with glasses, and said righteously: "I don't need makeup."

The girl with glasses looked her up and down and said expressionlessly: "That's why no guy is interested in you."

"Ah—I'm going to kill you!"

The group started horsing around on the road, their laughter carrying far in the evening campus. Lin Xi looked back, shook her head with a smile, and quickened her pace toward the dormitory.
