293: Chapter 293 Inviting Su Mian Out
"President Chen?" Zhang Tao called out tentatively, seeing that he was silent again.
Chen Fan snapped out of it, his lips twitching slightly before quickly pulling back. "Except for the theme park and offline store voucher plans, everything else is fine. Let's go with this. We must ensure the game goes online on schedule."
Seeing that Chen Fan wasn't angry at his and Li Nan's boldness, Zhang Tao was instantly relieved.
He said with confidence, "Don't worry, President Chen, it will definitely go online on time."
"Alright, then I'll wait for your good news."
After Chen Fan finished speaking, he left Zhang Tao's cubicle and walked toward his own office.
...
Shortly after one in the afternoon, Chen Fan lay back in his chair, feeling a bit bored and not knowing what to do for a moment.
Su Mian's figure suddenly popped into his mind, and he couldn't help but think of the last time in the cave when he held her and kissed her. As that scene played in his mind, he felt a sudden urge to see her again. He sat up straight, opened QQ, found Su Mian's avatar, and sent her a message:
"Sister Su Mian, what are you doing?"
A few seconds after the message was sent, Su Mian replied, "Nothing, just in the dorm."
"Not out having fun?"
"No, it's too hot."
"Where's my sister?"
"In the dorm too."
Seeing the words "in the dorm too," Chen Fan stroked his chin. If Su Mian was with Chen Tong, it wouldn't be very convenient for him to see Su Mian alone. He couldn't very well call Su Mian out right in front of his sister; that would be too obvious.
He had to ask Su Mian out alone.
After a moment of thought, he continued typing: "I'll call you. Go somewhere private to answer."
"Okay."
Chen Fan sat in his chair and waited for a minute, then pulled up Su Mian's number and dialed. After two rings, the call connected, and Su Mian's soft, sweet voice came from the other end. "Hello, Chen Fan."
"Sister Su Mian, is there anyone around you?"
"No, I'm at the bottom of the dorm building. What do you need?"
Chen Fan leaned back in his chair, keeping his tone as casual as possible. "I'll head over to your school to find you in a bit, and take you somewhere later."
There was a silence of two seconds on the other end. "Just me? Are you bringing your sister?"
"It's not appropriate to bring her," Chen Fan said bluntly.
Su Mian fell silent again, her voice dropping a bit. "Then... what should I say if she asks where I went?"
Chen Fan had already thought of an excuse. "Just say Aunt Su asked you to head home first."
"My mom?" Su Mian was clearly taken aback. "But she didn't ask me to go back."
"It's just a random excuse, as long as it gets past my sister."
Su Mian was silent for a while. "If I say that, I won't be able to return to the dorm tonight. Where will I stay?"
"Don't worry, I'll send you back to Aunt Su's place tonight."
"Then... okay."
"Alright, I'll pick you up in a bit."
After hanging up, Su Mian stood at the bottom of the dorm building, still holding her phone as the screen went dark. She looked down at her toes, her ears burning slightly.
In fact, over the past two days, Chen Fan's figure had often crossed her mind—the scene of him holding and kissing her in the cave, and the embarrassing things his mischievous hands had done.
Whenever she lay in bed alone, she would involuntarily think of it, then roll over and bury her face in her pillow.
Now that Chen Fan suddenly said he was coming to find her, she was actually happy. That was why, when Chen Fan asked her to find an excuse to come out alone, she had agreed after a brief hesitation.
Su Mian took a deep breath, turned around, and walked back into the dorm building.
Reaching her dorm door, she pushed it open. Chen Tong was sitting cross-legged on the bed, scrolling through her phone. Seeing her enter, she asked casually, "Who was looking for you?"
Su Mian's heart tightened, but her expression remained fairly natural. "My mom. She wants me to go back for a bit."
"Aunt Su?" Chen Tong looked up at her. "What's the matter?"
"I don't know, she just said she wanted me to head back." As Su Mian spoke, she began packing her small bag, stuffing her phone charger inside. "Maybe there's something going on at home."
Chen Tong didn't think much of it and nodded. "Then go ahead. Are you coming back tonight?"
"Probably not. My mom... might want me to stay the night."
"Ah, doesn't that mean I'll be the only one left in the dorm?"
"I'll stay a night or two at most, and I'll be back soon."
"Alright, take care on the road."
...
After hanging up, Chen Fan grabbed his car keys and left the office. Half an hour later, he drove up to the entrance of Changan University of Arts and Sciences.
Before his car had even come to a complete stop, he saw Su Mian standing under the shade of a tree near the school entrance, carrying a small bag.
The midday sun was fierce, and a fine layer of sweat had broken out on her face, with the stray hairs on her forehead clinging slightly to her skin. However, when she saw his car appear, her eyes clearly lit up.
Chen Fan pulled the car over, parked, opened the door, and walked over.
"You didn't start waiting here right after we hung up, did you?" he asked as he reached Su Mian, looking at her sun-reddened cheeks.
Su Mian raised her hand to wipe the sweat from her brow and shook her head. "No, I even went back to the dorm to pack my things."
Chen Fan was taken aback and couldn't help but laugh. "How is that any different from waiting the whole time? It's over thirty degrees in the middle of the day. Couldn't you have found somewhere cool to wait?"
Su Mian blinked, her tone carrying a hint of innocence. "I thought you'd arrive very quickly."
Looking at her like this, Chen Fan felt both amused and exasperated. "Next time, find a place with air conditioning to sit. When I arrive, I'll call you, and then you can come out. Understood?"
Su Mian nodded and mumbled softly, "Got it."
"Let's go, get in the car," Chen Fan said, turning to walk toward where he had parked.
After they both got in, Chen Fan started the engine. Su Mian spoke up and asked, "Where are we going now?"
"You'll know when we get there." Chen Fan smiled, not saying more.
The car drove for over half an hour before finally stopping in front of a large amusement park.
As soon as Su Mian got out of the car, she saw the massive, colorful archway at the entrance with the words "Happy Valley" written on it. In the distance, she could also see the towering tracks of a roller coaster and the slowly turning silhouette of a Ferris wheel.
Su Mian turned to look at Chen Fan, her eyes instantly lighting up. "An amusement park?"
"Yeah, didn't I say I was taking you out to have fun?" Chen Fan locked the car and then led her toward the ticket booth.
The two of them had their tickets checked and entered the main gate. The lively music of the amusement park and the laughter of the tourists washed over them. With sunshades and misting cooling systems overhead, it was actually quite a bit cooler than outside.
Su Mian looked around as she walked, her gaze jumping from the roller coaster to the pirate ship, and then from the pirate ship to the drop tower, her eyes filled with curiosity.
