229: Chapter 229 The First Meeting of Vatican
The meeting room was not big, with a long table, a dozen chairs, a whiteboard hanging on the wall, and a pothos plant in the corner.
At this moment, a dozen or so people were already sitting in the meeting room; some were looking down at their notebooks, while others were whispering. The atmosphere was not exactly serious, but it could not be called relaxed either.
Chen Fan pushed the door open and walked in. The somewhat noisy meeting room fell silent, and everyone looked up at him.
Among them, a few gazes held clear confusion. Who is this boy who looks even younger than them? A new colleague? Or an intern?
Chen Fan ignored these gazes, walked straight to the head of the long table, pulled out a chair, sat down, and scanned the dozen or so people present.
He had participated in the interviews for a large portion of them, so these people naturally recognized him. However, there were still some people interviewed by Zhou Min and Qiao Linlin, in which he had not participated.
However, seeing him sit at the head of the table, those who were originally confused already had a guess in their minds.
"Is everyone here?" Chen Fan looked at the girl sitting in the first seat on his left.
A girl who looked to be twenty-eight or twenty-nine years old with a capable temperament—she was Li Nan, the operations manager Chen Fan had hired.
After interviewing Li Nan last time, Chen Fan interviewed a few more people whose resumes and abilities were similar to Li Nan's, but Chen Fan still chose Li Nan.
First, her background from the big company JD.com made Chen Fan naturally lean towards her. Second, because she was the youngest among the interviewees, Chen Fan ultimately chose her.
"Everyone is here, Mr. Chen." Li Nan glanced at the people sitting in the meeting room, and after confirming, she nodded at Chen Fan.
"Alright." Chen Fan responded, then looked at the group and said, "Let's start with self-introductions. My name is Chen Fan, and I am the boss of this company."
The meeting room was very quiet; no one spoke, and everyone was listening.
Although those new employees were mentally prepared, hearing the word "boss" come out of Chen Fan's mouth still flashed a trace of surprise on their faces. Such a young boss, he looked even younger than them by a few years.
"Now everyone should know me," Chen Fan paused, "but you all probably aren't familiar with each other yet. So, let everyone introduce themselves first. State your name, position, just a few simple sentences will do."
He looked at Li Nan in the first seat on his left, signaling her to go first.
Li Nan nodded, stood up, and spoke in a clear, though not loud, voice: "My name is Li Nan, the operations manager. I previously worked in e-commerce in Beijing and just arrived in Chang'an recently. In the future, for anything related to operations, feel free to come to me."
As soon as Li Nan sat down, Chen Fan added: "Right, let me mention one thing. Because I have another game company over at the Software Park, I have a lot of things to do and can't come here often. So when I'm not here, you will be under Li Nan's unified management. If there is anything—problems encountered at work, needing to coordinate resources, or things you can't make up your mind about—go to her first. If she can't handle it, then come to me."
Everyone present turned their gaze to Li Nan simultaneously.
Li Nan did not have any special reaction; she just nodded slightly.
"Next," Chen Fan said.
As soon as he finished speaking, a girl in her twenties stood up, "My name is Zhao Xiaoran, a fashion designer. I worked at a clothing company in Chang'an for two years before. I'm very happy to join this team."
After Zhao Xiaoran sat down, the girl next to her immediately stood up. She looked even younger, with a bit of student aura on her face: "My name is Qian Fei, an assistant designer. I just graduated this year. Please take care of me."
As for the two designers, neither of them were famous designers hired by Chen Fan; one could even say they had absolutely nothing to do with the word "famous."
Zhao Xiaoran, four years of work experience, previously worked at a medium-sized local clothing company in Chang'an, doing basic daily women's wear, with no hit products on her resume to show off;
Qian Fei, just graduated this year, besides her graduation project and a few assignments done in school, she did not even have any proper ready-to-wear pieces.
Put on the job market, both of them belonged to the type that did not really stand out.
But Chen Fan never intended to hire any big-name designers.
He did not need famous designers.
What he needed were two tool-like designers.
He did not need them to create original works, did not need them to unleash their creativity wildly, and definitely did not need them to rely on "inspiration" to make a living.
He only needed them to design styles that were similar and could be mass-produced, following the templates and directions he provided, step by step.
Zhao Xiaoran and Qian Fei fit this standard perfectly.
Zhao Xiaoran had solid basic skills, and her four years of work experience gave her a basic understanding of various patterns, crafts, and fabrics, so she did not need to be taught from scratch.
Moreover, she had a steady personality and was diligent in her work; whatever direction was given, she would produce the work accordingly and would not argue with her boss.
Chen Fan had noticed this during the interview.
Although Qian Fei was a fresh graduate, her aesthetic sense was on point, her hand-drawing skills were good, and she was young, eager to learn, and did not have too many of her own ideas; she would do whatever she was told to do.
After the two introduced themselves, Chen Fan looked at the next person.
"My name is..."
...
10 minutes later, everyone had finished their self-introductions.
Chen Fan also started getting to the main point.
His gaze first fell on Li Nan.
"Li Nan, your first task is to get the Taobao store set up. Get a clear understanding of the entire store operation process: listing, product detail pages, customer service, logistics, and after-sales service. You need to go through every step yourself."
Li Nan nodded and quickly jotted down a few keywords in her notebook.
"I'll give you a week; is that enough?" Chen Fan asked.
"Enough."
Chen Fan looked at the designer, Zhao Xiaoran, sitting on his right.
"Zhao Xiaoran, your task is to design clothing, but not ordinary clothing." Chen Fan paused, "I will give you a few samples later, and you will design multiple products with similar styles according to the samples."
"Okay, Mr. Chen."
Chen Fan looked at Qian Fei again, "The same goes for you. I will send you a few samples, and you will design products of the same style according to the samples."
"Mm." Qian Fei nodded.
Chen Fan's gaze turned to a man sitting in the back row who looked a bit reticent.
"Liu Lei, your task is to make the samples first after they finish the designs. Once the drawings are out and the patterns are made, you need to follow up immediately and make the sample garments."
Liu Lei nodded seriously, his voice not loud but very firm: "Okay, Mr. Chen. Once the drawings are out and the patterns are made, I can produce the sample garments in two days at the fastest."
Seeing Liu Lei's assurance, Chen Fan nodded.
Immediately after, Chen Fan looked at the remaining few people who had not been assigned work yet.
