99: Chapter 99 Moving Out of the Dormitory

Two hundred thousand, not expensive. Compared to the five million for Five Viscera Strengthening, this amount of wealth store points doesn't even count as a fraction.

He immediately clicked purchase.

In an instant, it felt like something flooded into his mind. Not images, not sounds, just a kind of... sense of familiarity.

It was as if he had always known this knowledge, but had forgotten it before, and now it had been dredged up from the depths of his memory.

The definition of a limit, the ε-δ language, the Squeeze Theorem, L'Hôpital's Rule—every concept appeared clearly in his mind, complete with derivation processes, example analyses, common mistakes, and even efficient solutions for various types of problems.

He closed his eyes and ran through it in his mind. Functions and limits, derivatives and differentials, indefinite integrals, definite integrals, differential equations... The entire knowledge system of advanced mathematics was like a lit-up map, with every node glowing and every connection clearly visible.

After feeling the effect, Chen Fan was very satisfied.

He closed his eyes.

In his mind, the interface of the wealth store slowly faded away, turning into blackness.

...

The next day.

After the first class in the afternoon, Chen Fan received a message from Counselor Shen Na—his application for off-campus housing had been approved.

He glanced at the line of text on his phone screen, and his lips curled up.

Two or three days. Counselor Shen Na had said two or three days, but it came down on the second day, faster than he had expected.

Upon arriving at the office, Counselor Shen Na tidied up the materials and took a file bag out of the drawer.

"The Student Affairs Office approved it." She pulled out a stamped approval form and handed it to Chen Fan. "This is your copy, keep it safe."

Chen Fan took it and glanced at it—it had the red stamp of the Student Affairs Office and the signature of the reviewer.

"Go to the Dormitory Management Center yourself to handle the withdrawal procedures. Once you return the key, the bed space is gone." Counselor Shen Na leaned back in her chair, her hands folded on the desk. "The Finance Department will refund the accommodation fee, it should arrive in about a week."

Chen Fan nodded and folded the approval form, putting it into his pocket.

Counselor Shen Na pulled another sheet of paper from the drawer. "The agreement, in duplicate. Sign it, and you keep this copy."

Chen Fan took it and scanned the terms. It was A4 paper, printed, with a standard font size and line spacing. The terms were written very officially—"During the period of off-campus accommodation, the student and their guardian are solely responsible for personal and property safety; the school assumes no liability."

The meaning was clear: if something happens, don't come looking for the school.

He picked up the pen on the desk and signed his name.

He handed both copies back. Counselor Shen Na took the red stamp from the drawer, stamped the agreement, put the stamp down, and returned one copy to him.

"Alright, the procedures are complete." She leaned back, her chair giving a slight creak. "From today on, you can live off-campus."

"Thank you, Sister Na." Chen Fan stacked the agreement and the approval form together, folded them, and put them in his pocket. His pocket bulged a bit, so he pressed it down with his hand to flatten the paper.

Counselor Shen Na waved her hand, said nothing more, and lowered her head to continue looking at her computer. Chen Fan turned and left the office, closing the door behind him.

The procedures were complete.

Now there was only one thing left—moving.

After returning to the dormitory, several roommates were there.

Liu Zhipeng was lying on his bed looking at his phone, Wang Lei was sitting at the desk reading a book, and Zhang Yuhang was wearing headphones listening to music, his eyes closed, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the desk.

Chen Fan walked to his bed, pulled open the cabinet door, and began to pack his things.

He took his clothes out of the cabinet, folded them, and stuffed them directly into his backpack.

Liu Zhipeng poked his head out from behind his phone screen, watching Chen Fan stuff a jacket into his backpack and take out a pair of trousers to fold, finally unable to help asking:

"Chen Fan, what are you doing?"

Chen Fan stopped what he was doing and looked at the others. "I applied for off-campus housing, so starting today I'll be living off-campus, and I have to give up my dormitory bed."

Hearing Chen Fan's words, everyone was stunned.

Liu Zhipeng was the first to react, his eyes widening. "You rented a place off-campus?"

"Yeah." Chen Fan answered casually, lowering his head to continue folding clothes, not volunteering that he had bought the place.

Hearing this, they exchanged glances and said nothing more. Although they were a bit surprised by Chen Fan's choice, it wasn't strange.

After living in the dormitory for half a month, everyone could more or less tell what kind of family background each person had.

The clothes Chen Fan wore—even if they didn't recognize the logo, the fabric and tailoring clearly weren't cheap.

The phone he used was an iPhone 4 that hadn't been released in the country yet, he even had a computer, and even the watch on his wrist looked very exquisite. Although the brand and price weren't apparent, the luster of the metal strap under the light clearly told everyone—this thing wasn't cheap.

So him wanting to move out was perfectly normal. No matter how good a dormitory was, it was still a dormitory; how could it be as comfortable as living on your own?

Wang Lei was leaning on his bed and hadn't made a sound until now, when he spoke up: "Are the procedures all done?"

"Yeah, the Student Affairs Office approved it."

Wang Lei nodded. "Then come back often."

Chen Fan smiled. "Obviously."

After finishing packing his clothes, the remaining toiletries—washbasin, towel, toothbrush, and toothpaste—Chen Fan couldn't be bothered to take, so he threw them directly into a trash bag.

There was more than half a bottle of shampoo and body wash left, so he threw those away too.

If it had been a full bottle, he would have given it to them, but with half a bottle, Chen Fan felt embarrassed to offer it, so he just threw it away.

He folded his bedding and placed it by the side of the bed. "I'm not taking the bedding. If any of you want it, just take it; if nobody wants it, I'll throw it away."

Hearing Chen Fan's words, the others didn't react, but Wang Lei hesitated for a moment before saying: "Give it to me."

Chen Fan nodded, shouldered his backpack, and walked toward the door.

"I'm off."

Liu Zhipeng sat up from his bed and waved at him. "Come back and visit often."

"Sure."

Chen Fan opened the door and walked out.

He walked through the corridor and arrived at the stairwell.

Before heading down the stairs, he took one last look at the corridor—the familiar lights, the familiar hallway.

Arriving on the first floor, Chen Fan walked out of the dormitory building.

The sun was bright outside, and the leaves of the plane trees had mostly turned yellow. As the wind blew, they rustled, and a few leaves spiraled down, falling at his feet. He walked toward the school gate, stepping on the fallen leaves, his pace neither fast nor slow.

Chen Fan walked out of the school gate, the sunlight spilling onto him, feeling warm.

Arriving at where he parked, he placed his backpack on the passenger seat, started the car, and drove out of the parking lot.
