78: Chapter 78 Patek Philippe Nautilus
After arriving at the counter, a female sales associate in her twenties immediately came up to greet him.
Upon seeing Chen Fan, she took a quick glance and her eyes lit up.
Although he was young, both his demeanor and his attire set him apart from the average person; he looked like someone with the financial means to make a purchase.
"Welcome to Patek Philippe, may I ask your surname, sir?"
"My surname is Chen."
"Mr. Chen, would you like to browse on your own, or would you like me to introduce some models to you?"
"I'll look around on my own first, I'll call you if I need anything."
"Very well, sir."
After saying this, the sales associate followed beside Chen Fan, maintaining a distance of half a step—neither too close nor too far.
Chen Fan's gaze swept over the expensive watches in the display case.
As for Patek Philippe, Chen Fan only knew of the brand; he wasn't very familiar with the specific models, so he had to first see which style he liked.
"How much is this one?"
The sales associate glanced in the direction his finger was pointing and smiled slightly.
"Mr. Chen, this is an entry-level model from the Calatrava collection. It's made of stainless steel, features manual winding, and the retail price is 98,000."
Chen Fan raised an eyebrow.
An entry-level model for 98,000—truly worthy of Patek Philippe.
However, since Chen Fan intended to buy one, he certainly wouldn't choose an entry-level model; he wanted something at least one tier higher.
"Do you have anything one tier above the entry-level models?"
The smile on the sales associate's face deepened.
"Of course, Mr. Chen." She turned to lead the way, walking to another counter nearby. "You can take a look over here. These are all from Patek Philippe's Nautilus collection; the materials and craftsmanship are a bit more special."
Chen Fan followed her over, his gaze landing on one of the watches in the display case.
The sales associate followed his gaze. "This is a white gold model from the Nautilus collection. The case is made of 18K white gold, the dial features the classic dark gray horizontal pattern, and it comes with a black alligator leather strap."
She put on white gloves, carefully took out the watch, and placed it on a velvet tray.
She pushed the tray toward Chen Fan.
"You can try it on."
The moment the watch was in his hand, Chen Fan felt the weight that belonged to precious metal—it wasn't heavy enough to be burdensome, but rather had a perfectly balanced heft.
He put the watch on his wrist, and the clasp clicked shut.
Chen Fan raised his wrist and looked at it under the light.
"Mr. Chen, I must say, this watch suits you perfectly."
The sales associate wasn't just being polite; she genuinely felt it was a perfect fit.
She had seen too many customers try on this watch. Some were dressed in suits, and while they could pull off the watch, they looked too deliberate.
Others put it on casually, and the watch and their arm seemed to exist independently of each other, as if it were borrowed temporarily just to make an impression.
But the person before her was different.
In a black short-sleeved shirt, his exposed arm had clean, defined lines. Once the watch was fastened to his wrist, it wasn't a case of "he is wearing a watch," but rather, "this watch was meant to be here."
The cold tone of the white gold complemented the warm tone of his skin, and even the light and shadow on the horizontally patterned dial seemed specifically tailored for him.
Chen Fan was also very satisfied with the watch; the color of the white gold wasn't as flashy or high-profile as yellow gold, making it very suitable for him.
"I'll take this one. How much is it?"
"Mr. Chen, the retail price for this 5711/1G-001 is 208,000." She paused, then added, "If you are sure you want to purchase it today, I can help you apply for a discount. Although Patek Philippe doesn't have much room for discounts, as a new customer, there should be a small concession."
"Fine, I'll take it."
"Very well, Mr. Chen, please come this way, and I will process the paperwork for you."
The sales associate turned to lead the way, bringing Chen Fan to a sofa in the lounge area to sit down, while she quickly walked behind the counter to prepare the documents.
Two minutes later, she returned with a folder and sat down opposite Chen Fan.
"Mr. Chen, this is your watch purchase contract. Please verify the information." She opened the folder, pushed it in front of Chen Fan, and added, "I just helped you apply for a discount, and the manager approved a small one. Although it's not much, it's a token of our appreciation."
She said this nonchalantly, as if she had truly "applied" for it.
Chen Fan glanced at her, said nothing, and lowered his head to verify the information on the contract.
Model: 5711/1G-001, Material: 18K white gold. The price column read 203,000, which was 5,000 less than the retail price she had quoted earlier.
After signing, Chen Fan returned the contract.
"Charge the card."
The sales associate nodded, took the contract, and quickly walked behind the counter to take out the POS machine.
The sales associate put away the POS machine, took a dark blue watch box from the counter, and placed it in front of Chen Fan.
"Mr. Chen, the payment is complete. Following our procedure, we need to ask you to inspect the goods in person, and we will package it for you after you confirm there are no issues."
She opened the watch box, and the 5711/1G-001 lay quietly inside, the horizontal pattern on the dial shimmering with a delicate luster under the lights.
"Please check the case and crystal for any scratches, and ensure the markings on the dial are normal." She gently took out the watch and handed it to Chen Fan. "Then you can check the clasp's opening and closing, as well as the exhibition case back."
Chen Fan took the watch, examined it from all angles, and looked at the dial under the light again.
"No issues."
The sales associate nodded, took out the warranty card and instruction manual from the box, and laid them out one by one.
"This is the warranty card. Please verify the model and serial number; they should match the engraving on the back of the watch." She pointed to the small text on the back of the watch. "Also, the warranty period starts from today, with a two-year global warranty."
Chen Fan lowered his head to verify it once, then nodded.
The sales associate carefully placed the watch and accessories back into the box one by one, then finally closed the lid and gently pushed it toward him.
Chen Fan took the box, took out the watch, put it directly on his wrist, and then left the Patek Philippe counter carrying the bag with the box.
After leaving the Patek Philippe counter, Chen Fan carried the bag, walked around the mall for a bit, and turned into the LV store.
The lighting in the store was much softer than outside. Warm yellow lights shone on the displayed leather goods and ready-to-wear clothing, and the air was filled with a faint scent of leather.
The clerk at the entrance saw the brand-new Patek Philippe on his wrist; their eyes narrowed slightly, and the smile on their face immediately became a bit warmer.
"Hello, sir. Welcome to Louis Vuitton. How may I help you?"
"I'm looking for some summer clothes."
"Very well, please come this way." The male clerk turned to lead the way, bringing Chen Fan to the ready-to-wear section. "These are all this year's new summer arrivals. We have T-shirts, shirts, and shorts. Which type are you looking for?"
Chen Fan scanned the shelves, his gaze landing on a black crew-neck T-shirt. The style was very simple.
There was only a very small LV logo on the chest, which was barely noticeable unless you looked closely, but the fabric felt very comfortable to the touch.
