306: Chapter 306 is for her

After Zhou Zhengyang left and the conference room door had just closed, Chen Fan and Fang Hongsheng exchanged a glance, and smiles immediately appeared on both their faces.

Chen Fan's smile welled up from the bottom of his heart—billions in wealth, although still just a valuation on paper, Tencent's recognition had already turned this number from a "fantasy" into something that would "sooner or later be realized."

He leaned back in his chair, the curve of his mouth carrying an irrepressible sense of relaxation, as if the string that had been pulled taut all this time had finally slackened.

As for Fang Hongsheng, his smile was even harder to hide than Chen Fan's. He rubbed his hands together, then released them, as if he didn't know where to put his hands.

He thought of his 1% stock option; based on the current valuation of 10 billion, that 1% was worth 100 million.

Back when he was working in Shenzhen, his annual salary was only five or six hundred thousand, and after working for over a decade, he had only saved a few million. He never imagined that after returning to Chang'an, he would obtain shares worth 100 million.

Although this 1% of shares couldn't be exchanged for cash immediately, it was already a solid 100 million, and it would turn into cash sooner or later.

He took a deep breath and let it out, as if trying to expel that surge of excitement from his body.

"President Chen," Fang Hongsheng began, his voice slightly higher than usual, "I feel like I'm dreaming right now."

Chen Fan glanced at him and chuckled, "Then keep dreaming, don't wake up."

Fang Hongsheng also smiled, "Then I need to hurry back and get the money ready. The 5 million matter cannot be delayed any longer."

Chen Fan nodded, "Go ahead."

Fang Hongsheng stood up and walked two steps out, then turned back, "President Chen, thank you."

Chen Fan waved his hand at him, "What are you thanking me for? This is what you deserve, Senior."

After Fang Hongsheng left, Chen Fan sat alone in the conference room, his mind beginning to turn to another matter—the shares.

He held 100% of the shares in the entire company; even if he sold 20% to Tencent, he would still have 80% in his hands. For him, this ratio still meant absolute control, and no one could shake his decision-making power.

But precisely because of this, he wanted to take a portion of the shares and give them to the employees—not for free, but by allowing employees to purchase them at a certain discounted price.

The reason he thought this way was because he had considered it clearly: an employee's sense of belonging and the company's cohesion could not be maintained solely by salary and bonuses.

Salary is a transaction, bonuses are an incentive, but shares are the proof of being "one of our own."

When employees know that they hold shares in the company, even if it's just a little bit, their mindset towards the company will change from "wage earner" to "partner."

The energy brought about by this change would be far more lasting than paying a few extra months of salary.

He leaned back in his chair, tapped his fingers lightly on the desk, and quickly ran through the general framework in his mind.

An employee stock ownership plan could be set up, with subscription eligibility allocated according to certain years of service and performance standards, and the price could be lower than the market valuation so that employees could afford it.

In this way, it could not only incentivize the core team but also tie their interests together with the company's long-term development.

He thought for a while and felt that this train of thought was viable, but the specific plan still needed to be discussed with Fang Hongsheng; how to set thresholds, how to determine prices, and how to ensure compliance all had to be clearly finalized.

However, this matter was not urgent for now; he would wait a while before considering it further.

Just as he was thinking, the office door was knocked twice, and Qiao Linlin pushed the door open and walked in, holding a stack of documents: "Boss, these documents need your signature."

Chen Fan looked up at her, took the documents, flipped through them, signed them, and handed them back. Before he had even put down the pen he used to sign, a thought suddenly flashed through his mind—since there was nothing to do this afternoon anyway, he might as well take this time to get the other thing done.

"Linlin," Chen Fan put down his pen, "I'm taking you somewhere."

Qiao Linlin was just about to walk out, but hearing this, she turned back, somewhat surprised: "Where to?"

"You'll know when we get there." Chen Fan stood up and picked up the car keys on the desk, "Did you bring your ID card?"

Qiao Linlin was stunned for a moment and subconsciously touched her bag: "I brought it... why?"

"Just having it is fine, let's go."

Seeing that he was not saying much, Qiao Linlin knew she wouldn't get anything out of him by asking, so she nodded, placed the signed documents on the table, and followed him out of the office.

The two walked through the office area and took the elevator down to the underground parking lot. Chen Fan opened the car door and sat in. Qiao Linlin fastened her seatbelt and tilted her head to look at him: "Boss, you're being so mysterious, where exactly are we going?"

Chen Fan started the car and said casually, "You'll know when we get there."

Qiao Linlin didn't pursue the question any further; she leaned back in the passenger seat and tilted her head to look out the window.

More than half an hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of the Chang'an Real Estate Registration Center.

Qiao Linlin looked through the car window and saw the sign hanging on the building, stunned for a moment, a thought flashing through her mind instantly—but she dared not be sure.

She turned her head to look at Chen Fan. Chen Fan was unbuckling his seatbelt, his expression very casual.

She didn't speak immediately, just quietly got out of the car and followed beside Chen Fan toward the main entrance.

The guess in her heart became clearer and clearer, but she didn't ask, nor did she show it.

Chen Fan walked beside her, holding a document bag in his hand, "Let's go, let's go inside and handle some paperwork."

Qiao Linlin gave a soft "Mm," and followed him into the lobby.

Chen Fan brought her to an empty counter. Sitting inside the counter was a young woman in her twenties, wearing a blue uniform. Seeing Chen Fan walk over, her eyes lit up slightly, and a professional smile appeared on her face: "Hello, what business would you like to handle?"

Chen Fan placed the document bag in his hand on the counter, his tone as casual as if he were talking about the weather today: "I want to gift my own house to someone else."

The staff member was stunned for a moment and asked reflexively: "May I ask if it is a gift to a relative?"

"Not a relative." Chen Fan said, turning his head to glance at Qiao Linlin, then turned back, "Gifting it to her."

"Gifting a house?" The girl was stunned upon hearing this, and subconsciously looked toward Qiao Linlin, a flash of undisguised envy crossing her eyes.

The girl before her was young and pretty; no wonder this young, handsome man wanted to gift a house to her.

She began to flip through the materials in the document bag. Meanwhile, Qiao Linlin, who was standing to the side, froze in place the moment she heard Chen Fan say the three words "gifting it to her," as if she had been petrified.

It wasn't that she hadn't guessed it; from the moment she saw the sign for the "Real Estate Registration Center," she had that vague guess in her heart.

But guessing was one thing, and hearing him say it with her own ears was another.

When Chen Fan said "gifting it to her" in front of the staff member, she felt her heart skip a beat, and a warm current surged up from her chest, rushing straight to her eyes.
