274: Chapter 274 I think you're trying to get me drunk again.
Chen Fan waited at the door for less than two minutes before Counselor Shen Na pushed the door open and walked out.
When she saw Chen Fan, a strange look flickered in her eyes.
Sister Li's words from earlier still seemed to echo in her ears, making her involuntarily size up her student standing before her.
Over 1.8 meters tall, handsome, fit, and he even owned a company worth hundreds of millions. He was the textbook definition of a tall, rich, and handsome guy.
Any ordinary girl would definitely have feelings for him. But she was his counselor; she shouldn't have any such thoughts.
Suppressing those thoughts, she walked up to him. "Why are you still here?"
"Waiting for you," Chen Fan said.
"Let's go." Counselor Shen Na didn't say much else and walked ahead.
"Sorry to trouble you to make another trip today, Sister Na," Chen Fan said.
"So you do know you're troubling me."
"How about I treat you to another meal to make up for it?"
"I think you just want to get me drunk again." Counselor Shen Na glanced at him sideways, her tone teasing.
"Sister Na, I've been wronged! Last time, you got drunk on your own. I didn't do anything," Chen Fan said with a hint of innocence. "I'm just an honest, law-abiding student."
Counselor Shen Na rolled her eyes at Chen Fan and didn't pursue the topic.
Just then, Counselor Shen Na's phone rang. She pulled it out, took a glance, and answered, "Hello, Dad?"
After a few words from the other end of the line, the smile on Counselor Shen Na's face gradually faded. Her brow furrowed, and her tone changed. "What? What happened to Mom? ...Which Hospital? ...Okay, I got it. I'm heading over right now."
Hanging up the phone, Chen Fan looked at Counselor Shen Na. "Sister Na, from your call, is your mother in the Hospital?"
Counselor Shen Na nodded anxiously. "My dad just called. He said my mom suddenly fainted and is in the Hospital now." As she spoke, she started walking toward the school gate, her pace already frantic.
Chen Fan quickly stopped her. "Sister Na, let me drive you. My car is right at the school gate. It's hard to get a cab at this hour. By the time you hail one and get there, it'll take at least twenty minutes longer."
Counselor Shen Na paused, glanced back at him, hesitated for two seconds, and then nodded. "Okay, sorry to trouble you."
"Let's go." Without another word, Chen Fan turned and walked toward the school gate, with Counselor Shen Na keeping pace beside him.
The two walked quickly to the school gate and reached the parking spot. After getting into the car, Chen Fan looked at the anxious Counselor Shen Na beside him. "Sister Na, which Hospital?"
"The First Affiliated Hospital of Jiao Tong University."
"Okay." Chen Fan nodded, started the car, and drove toward the Hospital.
On the way, Counselor Shen Na sat in the passenger seat, her face etched with uncontrollable worry. She stared straight ahead, her fingers unconsciously gripping the edge of her seatbelt.
Chen Fan glanced at her. "Sister Na, don't worry too much. Your mom just fainted; she should be fine."
"Yeah, I hope so." Her voice was softer than usual.
About ten minutes later, the car parked in the parking lot of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jiao Tong University.
The moment they got out of the car, Counselor Shen Na rushed impatiently toward the Hospital building, with Chen Fan quickly following.
She looked around as she walked, her steps fast and disorganized. "The inpatient department... where is the inpatient department?" As she spoke, she had already started running in one direction.
"This way, Sister Na." Seeing that Counselor Shen Na was running in the wrong direction, Chen Fan reached out, took her hand, and led her toward the inpatient department.
Counselor Shen Na froze for a moment and slowed down, but she didn't pull away or say anything, simply following him.
Perhaps because she was too worried, she didn't even notice that Chen Fan was still holding her hand.
It wasn't until they crossed the Hospital lobby and entered the elevator that Chen Fan let go of her hand and pressed the button for their floor.
The elevator doors closed, and the numbers began to climb. Counselor Shen Na leaned against the elevator wall and took a deep breath.
Chen Fan stood beside her and didn't speak again. When the elevator doors opened, he stepped aside to let her walk out first.
After stepping out of the elevator, Counselor Shen Na searched for her mother's ward as she walked, quickly stopping in front of a door labeled "1106".
She pushed the door open and walked in. There were three beds inside; the one closest to the window was empty, a middle-aged man was lying on the bed near the door looking at his phone, and a woman in her fifties lay on the middle bed, with a grey-haired man sitting beside her, head down, peeling an apple.
Counselor Shen Na quickly walked over to the middle bed and called out, "Mom, how are you feeling?"
The woman on the bed looked up. Her face was somewhat pale, but she seemed to be in decent spirits.
When she saw Counselor Shen Na, a smile touched her face. "I'm fine, really. It's just low blood sugar and slightly low blood pressure. The doctor said I can be discharged in a couple of days, but your dad just had to call you over."
Counselor Shen Na pulled up a chair by the bedside and sat down. "You fainted. How could I not come?"
Shens Father stood up to stretch. Noticing Chen Fan standing at the doorway, he asked Counselor Shen Na curiously, "Who is this young man?"
Counselor Shen Na introduced him, "This is my friend, Chen Fan. He drove me here just now."
Chen Fan quickly took a step forward. "Hello, Uncle. Hello, Auntie."
Shens Mother's eyes lit up the instant she saw Chen Fan. She seemed even more energetic than before and quickly patted the chair beside the bed. "Little Chen, come sit down. Don't just stand there; standing is so tiring."
"It's fine, Auntie. I can just stand," Chen Fan said politely.
"If I tell you to sit, then sit. No need to be polite." Shens Mother's tone carried the gentle yet firm authority of an elder. Her eyes scanned Chen Fan's face a few times, then flicked over to Counselor Shen Na, her smile widening.
Standing to the side, Counselor Shen Na opened her mouth to say something, but seeing her mother's enthusiastic display, she ultimately remained silent.
She merely gave Chen Fan a helpless look, as if telling him with her eyes, "My mom is just like this, please bear with her."
Chen Fan sat down on the chair by the bed. Shens Mother sized him up. "You're such a handsome young man. How old are you? Do you work at the same place as Nana?"
"Mom—" Counselor Shen Na couldn't help but interrupt.
"I'm asking Little Chen, not you." Shens Mother didn't even turn her head, her gaze still fixed on Chen Fan. "Little Chen, go ahead."
"Auntie, yes, we work at the same place."
Chen Fan didn't elaborate. Although one was a counselor and the other a student, they were at the same school, which could count as working at the same place.
Shens Mother smiled and said, "That's wonderful."
She then looked over at Shens Father. "Why haven't you poured Little Chen a glass of water yet?"
"No need, Auntie. I'm not thirsty," Chen Fan said, quickly waving his hand.
Beside them, Counselor Shen Na couldn't help but speak up, "Mom, you only have eyes for Chen Fan. Can't you see that I'm thirsty too?"
"You child, Little Chen is a guest. You argue with me at home every day, and now you're even getting jealous." Shens Mother didn't look back, her eyes still on Chen Fan. "Little Chen, don't mind her. She's been like this since she was a kid, always having to have the last word."
Standing nearby, Counselor Shen Na was left speechless by her own mother. She could only huff, turning her head to look out the window.
Chen Fan glanced at her, the corners of his mouth curving up slightly. He hadn't expected Counselor Shen Na to have such a childish side.
