213: Chapter 212 Not a few hundred kilograms
Su Mian lay quietly on his back, her chin resting on his shoulder. Her breathing was light and soft, and her warm breath brushed against the side of his neck, feeling like a feather stroking him, ticklish.
She moved occasionally to adjust her posture, and that softness would rub against him, pressing back onto him from a different angle.
Each time, it made Chen Fan's breathing skip a beat involuntarily.
Chen Fan tried his best not to think about it and continued walking toward where the car was parked.
At first, Su Mian's body was a bit stiff while lying on his back.
Her arms were wrapped around his neck, but she didn't dare use any force, just resting them lightly. Her body also leaned back slightly, trying her best not to press too closely.
She could feel the contours of his back muscles; even through his clothes, she could sense that warmth and firmness, like a moving wall, steadily supporting her.
As he walked forward step by step, his pace steady and rhythmic, her body slowly relaxed.
Chen Fan's broad physique gave her a special sense of security.
Her chin rested on his shoulder without her realizing it.
After walking for a while, Chen Tong came over from the front, walking backward to face them. She tilted her head to look at Su Mian, then at Chen Fan, and asked with a grin: "Xiao Fan, is Mianmian heavy?"
Chen Fan glanced at Chen Tong, the corner of his mouth curving up. He deliberately sighed, acting as if it were very strenuous: "Heavy. It's like having hundreds of pounds pressed on me; I'm almost unable to walk."
As soon as he finished speaking, Su Mian was taken aback for a moment, and then said with a serious face: "It's not hundreds of pounds. I weighed myself the day before yesterday, and I'm only 95 jin."
Chen Tong burst out laughing, pointing at Su Mian with her other hand: "Hahaha, Mianmian, why are you so cute? Can't you tell my brother is joking? He's teasing you!"
Su Mian blinked, looked at Chen Tong, then turned her face to look at Chen Fan, a faint flush rising on her face.
Chen Fan couldn't help but laugh at Su Mian's serious, earnest reaction.
A weight of one hundred jin was nothing to Chen Fan's current physical fitness, which far exceeded that of an ordinary person; even with Su Mian on his back, Chen Fan walked as if on flat ground.
Soon, he carried Su Mian to where the car was parked.
After putting Su Mian down, he opened the back door and carefully helped Su Mian sit in the back seat.
Chen Tong sat in the back seat this time too; since Su Mian had sprained her ankle, she needed to look after her in the back.
After both of them were seated and had buckled their seatbelts, Chen Fan started the car, turned the wheel, and drove toward the exit.
The car drove on the highway for forty or fifty minutes before finally entering the city. After driving for another ten minutes or so and passing through a few traffic lights, the car stopped steadily at the hospital entrance.
Chen Fan turned off the engine, got out, opened the back door, leaned in, and with one hand supporting Su Mian's back and the other holding her arm, slowly helped her out of the car.
Su Mian stood on one foot, holding the car door with one hand to maintain balance, and resting her other hand on Chen Fan's shoulder. Her center of gravity was still unstable, and her body swayed slightly.
Seeing this, Chen Fan didn't think twice; he bent over, wrapped one arm around her waist and the other under her knees, and picked her up in a princess carry.
Su Mian felt herself lifted into the air and instinctively let out a cry of surprise, her arms reflexively wrapping around his neck. By the time she realized what had happened, she was already nestled securely in his arms.
She looked up at Chen Fan, her gaze lingering on his face for a moment, then quickly lowered her head, another flush appearing on her face.
Behind them, Chen Tong saw this scene, a meaningful smile appearing in her eyes.
"Xiao Fan is pretty smooth," she couldn't help but think to herself.
After arriving in the lobby, Chen Fan looked around, found an empty seat in the waiting area, and carefully set Su Mian down.
Just as he was about to turn and go register, Chen Tong walked over and stopped him, shoving the bag she was holding into his hands: "You stay here and keep Mianmian company, I'll go register." After saying that, she trotted toward the registration window.
After waiting for about ten minutes, Chen Tong returned with the registration slip, panting, with a thin layer of sweat on her forehead: "It's for Orthopedics, I'm number eighteen in line, but I saw there aren't many people at the clinic, so it should be our turn soon."
The Orthopedics clinic was at the end of the first-floor corridor, requiring them to cross the entire lobby.
Chen Fan stood up, glanced at Su Mian, said nothing, and directly bent down to pick her up from the seat.
This time, Su Mian didn't cry out, but her arms instinctively wrapped around his neck.
The three of them walked toward the clinic together.
The door to the Orthopedics clinic was open, and a female doctor in her thirties was sitting inside.
She was looking down, writing something, the tip of her pen scratching on the paper. Hearing footsteps, she looked up, her gaze pausing for a moment on Chen Fan carrying Su Mian, and then she smiled and said to Su Mian: "Young lady, your boyfriend is really good to you; he can't even bear to let you walk when seeing a doctor."
Su Mian was taken aback, her mouth opening, just about to say something, when the female doctor continued to ask: "What happened?"
"Sprained her ankle, please take a look, Doctor." Chen Fan answered for her.
"Alright, come over here. Put her on the bed."
Chen Fan gently placed her on the examination bed. The female doctor pulled over a chair and sat opposite Su Mian, looked down at her ankle, and reached out to gently press on the most swollen area on the outside: "Does it hurt here?"
Su Mian hissed, her body shrinking slightly, and she nodded. The female doctor pressed a few more places, asking if it hurt each time, and Su Mian would gently "mm" or nod each time.
After finishing the examination, she took off her gloves, wrote a few lines in the medical record book, tore off a slip, and handed it over: "Go get an X-ray first to rule out a fracture. It's in the Radiology Department on the first floor; wait twenty minutes after the scan to get the results."
Chen Fan took the slip and bent down to pick Su Mian up again.
This time, Su Mian wasn't shy; her arms naturally wrapped around his neck, and her head rested on his shoulder.
Chen Tong followed behind, and the three of them left the clinic and headed to the first floor.
The Radiology Department was on the east side of the first floor of the outpatient building, with a few people lined up in the corridor. After waiting for about ten minutes, it was Su Mian's turn.
The technician was a male doctor in his forties; he didn't talk much, pointed to the examination bed, signaled for Su Mian to lie down, and then directed Chen Fan to help position her foot in the designated spot.
The X-ray was quick, finishing in less than two minutes.
Chen Fan carried Su Mian to the waiting area outside Radiology and placed her on a plastic chair.
During the twenty-minute wait for the results, Chen Tong went to a convenience store and bought three bottles of water and a pack of tissues.
Chen Fan took them, unscrewed one bottle and handed it to her, then unscrewed another and handed it to Su Mian. Su Mian took the water, took a small sip, pursed her lips, looked up at Chen Fan, and said "Thank you."
Twenty minutes later, the results were out.
Chen Tong ran over to retrieve the X-ray and the report, and the three of them returned to the Orthopedics clinic together.
The female doctor inserted the X-ray into the light panel, turned on the light box behind it, and squinted at it for a while.
Then she turned around, took off her gloves, and said in a relaxed tone: "The bones are fine, it's just a ligament sprain. No need for a cast. Go back and apply ice packs, walk less for the next two days, and it will be better in a few days."
After saying that, she prescribed a tube of topical ointment and gave a few more instructions—apply ice for the first forty-eight hours, fifteen to twenty minutes each time, three or four times a day; do not rub or apply heat; try to keep the foot elevated, and use a pillow under the foot when sleeping.
She handed the ointment and the medical record book to Chen Fan and added: "You should be able to walk normally in about a week. If it still hurts by then, come back for a follow-up."
Chen Fan nodded, put away the ointment, bent down to pick up Su Mian, and the three of them walked out of the clinic together.
