91: Chapter 91 Military Training Begins

After hanging up the phone, Liu Zhipeng couldn't help but ask, "Chen Fan, was that your girlfriend?"

"Yeah," Chen Fan nodded.

Upon hearing this, Liu Zhipeng looked at Wang Lei and Zhang Yuhang, "What about you two? You don't have girlfriends too, do you?"

Wang Lei pushed up his glasses, his expression somewhat helpless, "I haven't even held a girl's hand yet."

Liu Zhipeng let out a snort of laughter and then looked at Zhang Yuhang on the upper bunk.

Zhang Yuhang remained expressionless, sparing no words as he simply said, "None."

Liu Zhipeng nodded, feeling relieved, "That's good, I'm not the only single dog in the dorm."

"Actually, it's a good thing for us that Chen Fan has a girlfriend," Wang Lei said.

Liu Zhipeng became interested, "How so?"

Chen Fan also looked at him with interest, wanting to know what he would say.

Wang Lei pushed up his glasses and said earnestly, "Think about it. With Chen Fan's conditions, if he didn't have a girlfriend, wouldn't all the girls in class be eyeing him? What chance would the three of us have left?"

Zhang Yuhang rarely spoke from his bed, his tone indifferent, "That makes sense."

Liu Zhipeng suddenly realized, slapping his thigh, "Damn, that makes sense! Chen Fan, you'd better keep that relationship going well, don't you dare break up."

Chen Fan glanced at him but didn't respond.

The few of them chatted like this, from the girls in their class to tomorrow's military training, and from the military training to which cafeteria window had the best food at noon.

It wasn't until after twelve o'clock that the dormitory finally quieted down.

Not long after, their breathing gradually steadied.

...

The next day.

Just past six in the morning, Chen Fan woke up.

The others were still fast asleep. Liu Zhipeng was probably having some kind of wet dream; a lewd smile hung on his face, a bit of drool at the corner of his mouth, and a small patch of his pillow was wet.

After washing up, he changed into his military training uniform. The camouflage uniform was a bit big, with the pant legs being too long, so he rolled them up twice and tightened his belt. He looked in the mirror — not bad, it didn't look too terrible.

He checked the time; it was already 6:30. They had to assemble at 7:00, and the others showed no signs of getting up.

But that was normal. In his previous life, when he was in college, classes started at 8:00, and he wouldn't get up until 7:50. He'd brush his teeth and wash his face in five minutes, then spend the remaining five minutes rushing to the classroom, arriving just in time.

He went to their bedsides and shook them awake.

"What time is it?" Liu Zhipeng said groggily, not even opening his eyes.

"6:30."

"Sleep for five more minutes," Liu Zhipeng said, then immediately fell back asleep, pulling the quilt up to cover his head.

The other two didn't go back to sleep but groggily got up to get dressed. Wang Lei sat on the edge of his bed with his eyes half-open, fumbling around for a long time before finding his pants. Zhang Yuhang was faster; he had already put on his top and was fastening his belt.

As for Liu Zhipeng, he slept through two more "five minutes" before being forcibly dragged up by Chen Fan.

By the time they rushed out of the dormitory, it was already 6:55.

Seeing that the assembly time was almost upon them, the four of them could only sprint toward the sports field. Liu Zhipeng ran at the very back, the fat on his belly jiggling, shouting, "Wait for me—"

They finally arrived at the assembly point before 7:00.

The sports field was already packed with people, a sea of green camouflage. The flags of various companies fluttered in the morning breeze, printed with words like "First Battalion" and "Second Company."

Chen Fan found his class's location, and the four of them squeezed into the formation, panting.

After reaching the assembly point, he discovered that they had been assigned to the same company as Finance Class 01.

Just like Business Class 01, the Finance class also had many girls, more than half the class.

Looking out, there was a row of girls with ponytails standing in the front, wearing camouflage uniforms that made them look youthful and capable.

Just then, an instructor wearing training fatigues walked over.

To Chen Fan's surprise, it was actually a female instructor.

But she wasn't the stereotypical "beautiful instructor" that often appeared in novels.

She was around twenty-four or twenty-five, her skin a dark bronze from long exposure to the sun. Although she wasn't conventionally pretty, she exuded a sense of capability and heroic spirit.

Her short hair was pressed flat by her cap, and her gaze was sharp, like a knife when it swept across them.

The female instructor walked up to the crowd and stood still, legs together, back straight, then slowly spoke.

"Students, let me introduce myself first. My name is Liu Qiong, and I am your instructor for this military training. You can call me Instructor Liu from now on."

Her voice wasn't loud, but it was full of energy, and every word was clear.

After Liu Qiong finished speaking, her gaze swept across the formation: "Now, everyone line up in order of height from shortest to tallest, from left to right. Begin!"

As soon as she finished speaking, the crowd fell into chaos. Some pushed forward, some shrank back, some were shouting, "How tall am I? How tall am I?" and some had their shoelaces stepped on and nearly fell.

After five minutes of chaos, the formation was finally arranged neatly according to the instructor's instructions.

Chen Fan was placed in the middle of the last row. Standing in front of him was Zhang Yuhang, whose 1.8-meter height was considered tall in the formation.

After the formation was arranged, because there were still speeches from school leaders to come, training did not begin immediately.

After waiting for four or five minutes, the school leaders began to speak on stage. The microphone sound wasn't great and kept cutting in and out. The content was nothing more than "Welcome, new students" and "University is a new stage in life." Chen Fan let it go in one ear and out the other, not remembering a single word.

After the school leaders finished, the chief instructor for the military training also went on stage to say a few words.

The chief instructor had a loud voice and could be heard by the whole field without a microphone. The content was nothing more than the significance of military training and the discipline required — obeying orders, following commands, and not fearing hardship or fatigue.

Listening to these familiar slogans, Chen Fan felt dazed, as if he had returned to his previous life.

Once the school leaders and the chief instructor finished their speeches, the formal training began.

Liu Qiong walked to the front of the formation, hands behind her back, feet spread shoulder-width apart, her whole person like a rooted pine tree.

Facing the students present, she immediately gave them a show of force.

"From now on, my words are orders! What you need to do is act according to my commands. Also, before doing anything, shout 'Report!' Do you understand?"

"Understood!" everyone shouted in unison, their voices uneven and listless.

"Louder! Didn't you eat?" Liu Qiong's voice rose sharply.

"Understood!" This time the sound was much louder; even people on the other side of the sports field turned to look.

Liu Qiong nodded with satisfaction.

"Good, now we begin training for the military stance. I will demonstrate it for you first."

She turned around, with her back to the crowd.

"Chest out, head up, shoulders back, hands pressed against the trouser seams, middle finger aligned with the seam line, chin slightly tucked, center of gravity tilted forward—"

As she spoke, she performed the movements, every detail precise and on point. The camouflage uniform on her highlighted a crisp, heroic spirit. Several boys in the formation stared, their eyes straight.

After the demonstration was finished, Liu Qiong turned back around.

"Did you all see clearly?"

"Yes!"

"Good, start standing in the military stance. Timing starts now, thirty minutes."
