6: I'll start writing from Chapter 6.
He created a new Word document on the desktop and named it "High Martial Era."
In 2009, Qidian didn't have a writer's assistant yet, and the Chenggua Writing Software that Chen Fan often used wouldn't be launched until around 2020. So, for now, Chen Fan could only use Word to start writing.
Checking the time, it was already 10:30 PM. Chen Fan steadied his mind and began tapping away on the keyboard with a pitter-patter.
Since all the content was already in his head, Chen Fan wrote very quickly. After an hour, his word count had reached 7,500.
To be honest, when you have the content in your head, writing is actually quite satisfying.
It wasn't like his previous life. Back then, if he had inspiration, it was fine—writing ten thousand words a day was easy. But when he lacked inspiration and hit a writer's block, he would practically pull his hair out.
By the time Chen Fan finished writing fifteen thousand words...
...he checked the time and saw it was already past midnight.
Chen Fan suddenly remembered that it was now a new day, so the wealth store should have refreshed by now.
Thinking of this, he immediately focused his mind and opened the wealth store to check.
Sure enough, the items displayed in the store were different from yesterday. However, most were still white-grade items. These white items were all things that could easily be bought in reality, so they had absolutely no purchase value.
Aside from those, yesterday's energy potion was still there.
After a quick glance, Chen Fan stopped paying attention to it and instead moved his focus to a blue item in the bottom right corner.
Upon seeing this blue item, Chen Fan's breathing instantly became rapid.
[High School Chinese Mastery]
These four simple words brought Chen Fan an immense surprise.
In his previous life, Chen Fan only got into a junior college. During his time there, he almost did nothing but go online every day and sleep during the day. He didn't participate in any activities or date anyone. In class, he was like a ghost; a beautiful university life had almost nothing to do with him.
Having been reborn, he naturally wanted to get into a good university and experience whether university life was truly good or not.
But based on the knowledge Chen Fan currently possessed, let alone a good university, he probably couldn't even get into a junior college.
He hadn't expected that when heaven closes a door, it opens a window—the wealth store actually had something like [High School Chinese Mastery].
Since there was Chinese mastery, other subjects like Math, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry should also be available.
Once he gathered all seven Dragon Balls... no, all six subjects, then getting into a 985 university should probably be no problem.
Calming his nerves, Chen Fan looked at the purchase price: 50,000 wealth points.
Chen Fan looked again, unable to believe his eyes. He hadn't miscounted; it wasn't five zeros, it was indeed four. It could be bought for just 50,000 wealth points.
This price truly surprised Chen Fan. Not because it was too expensive, but because he felt it was too cheap.
Fifty thousand yuan per subject meant three hundred thousand for six subjects. Trading three hundred thousand for a spot in a 985 university—if given the chance, most people probably wouldn't refuse. Even the poorest person would find a way to get that chance, even if they had to sell everything they owned.
Now Chen Fan had this chance. Although he couldn't be certain when these subject masteries would refresh, there were still eight months—nearly 240 days—until the college entrance exam. Chen Fan believed that getting them all should be no problem.
After closing the store and exiting the system, Chen Fan was about to continue writing when a wave of hunger hit him from his stomach.
Fortunately, Chen Fan had brought a Potato Slice Sandwich.
As he opened the bag, a spicy and fragrant aroma wafted toward him, making the already hungry Chen Fan unable to stop himself from salivating.
Chen Fan impatiently took a large bite, and a look of satisfaction immediately appeared on his face.
After finishing the Potato Slice Sandwich, Chen Fan twisted open the cap of the Iced Black Tea and took a deep gulp.
Even though the originally chilled black tea was no longer cold, Chen Fan still felt very satisfied.
After eating and drinking his fill, Chen Fan rested for another ten minutes and then continued writing.
Since it wasn't the weekend, there were few people pulling all-nighters at the internet cafe. Plus, Chen Fan's row was quite secluded, so he was the only one there.
This was for the best, as no one would disturb him.
By five o'clock in the morning, Chen Fan had completed fifty thousand words.
He really couldn't copy anymore; his eyelids were drooping uncontrollably.
Rubbing his tired eyes, Chen Fan saved the document and then sent it to his email for backup.
Baidu Netdisk didn't exist yet, so saving things wasn't easy. For now, he could only save them via email.
Chen Fan planned to build up a larger backlog of chapters before uploading. After all, he was still in school and couldn't guarantee he'd have time to write every day, so having some draft chapters was better.
Once everything was settled, Chen Fan could barely keep his eyes open.
He didn't plan on staying at the internet cafe any longer. He went straight back to his rented room and fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow.
After sleeping for an unknown amount of time, a piercing alarm clock went off.
Chen Fan struggled to open his eyes and picked up the alarm clock nearby. It was 7:05 AM. He had slept for over an hour.
He remembered that morning self-study seemed to start at 7:20 AM, so there was still time.
He spent five minutes brushing his teeth and washing his face, then headed toward the school.
Upon arriving at the classroom, Chen Fan found that almost all his classmates were already there. Just as he sat down, the morning self-study bell rang.
As the bell rang, the sound of sparse reading gradually filled the classroom, and soon the noise became increasingly chaotic.
Due to lack of sleep, Chen Fan's eyelids began to droop the moment he sat down. Even the noisy reading sounds filling his ears couldn't affect him at all.
"Whatever, I'm sleeping," Chen Fan muttered, then slumped onto the desk to sleep.
Although there were morning exercises later, Chen Fan didn't plan on going. He remembered that in his senior year, he often skipped them, and there didn't seem to be any consequences—it mostly depended on how gutsy one was.
Seeing Chen Fan's actions, Jiang Chen asked curiously, "Did you pull an all-nighter last night?"
With his head buried in his arms, Chen Fan gave a muffled "Mhm" in response.
After an unknown amount of time, Chen Fan felt someone shaking his body in his sleep.
Opening his eyes, he saw it was his deskmate, Jiang Chen.
"The teacher is calling you," Jiang Chen whispered.
Chen Fan turned his head toward the blackboard. A middle-aged man in his thirties was looking at him with a serious expression.
He remembered that this was his homeroom teacher, Teacher Zhou, who taught mathematics.
"Stand up and listen to the lecture."
After Teacher Zhou spoke, the rest of the class involuntarily looked at Chen Fan.
Feeling somewhat helpless, Chen Fan could only stand up to listen.
In his previous life during senior year, because he spent his nights at internet cafes and slept during the day, he was often called out by teachers to stand as punishment. He hadn't expected that after being reborn, he still couldn't escape this fate.
There was nothing he could do. His current status was just an ordinary student, naturally suppressed by the authority of a teacher. He could only endure it for now.
