52: Chapter 52 Su Mian

Chen Tong was wearing a loose gray hoodie with jeans, her hair tied in a ponytail that swung back and forth as she ran.

She ran up to him, braced her hands on her knees to catch her breath, then looked up with her eyes wide open:

"Chen Fan, what are you doing! How come you suddenly showed up at my school?"

Chen Fan looked her over with a smile: "What, not welcome?"

"Welcome my foot, you didn't even say a word before coming!"

Chen Tong straightened up and slapped his arm: "I'm supposed to be in class. That teacher is super fierce; he glared at me when I snuck out."

"Then you should hurry back?"

"Back? Why go back? I'm already out."

Chen Tong waved her hand and looked him up and down: "How come you suddenly came to Chang'an? Did you come with Uncle and the others?"

"No, I came alone. I'm here in Chang'an to take care of some business and look around while I'm at it."

"You brat, you still know to come find your sister when you're here."

Chen Tong stood on tiptoe and ruffled his hair: "I guess you have a conscience."

Chen Fan dodged her hand, smiling: "Of course, I specifically brought you a gift."

Chen Tong's eyes lit up instantly upon hearing this: "Really?"

"Why would I lie to you~"

Chen Fan said as he handed her the bag containing the DSLR kit.

Chen Tong snatched it away and opened it impatiently.

When she saw the DSLR set inside the box, her eyes widened instantly: "Holy crap, a Nikon DSLR."

Chen Fan looked at her with a smile: "How about it, Sis? Your little brother's taste isn't bad, right?"

She looked up, her eyes shining brightly: "Not bad, Chen Fan. It's different now that you're making money; you're so generous."

Chen Fan smiled: "As long as you like it."

"I love it, I love it, of course I do!"

Chen Tong hugged the camera to her chest.

"Alright then, Sis, you hurry back to class, I'll be going now."

Chen Fan said, preparing to leave.

"Going where!"

Chen Tong grabbed him: "Are you that eager to avoid your sister? You want to leave as soon as you get here."

"Aren't you supposed to be in class?"

Chen Fan couldn't help but laugh.

"So what if I am? Come on, come to the classroom with me. I'll introduce you to my best friend, she's super pretty."

To be honest, Chen Fan was a bit curious about just how pretty Chen Tong's best friend was, since she kept wanting to introduce her to him.

But he still shook his head: "I really can't go. It's weird for me to tag along while you're in class."

"It's fine, the teacher won't care."

Chen Tong pulled his arm and started walking toward the teaching building: "Besides, just think of it as getting a head start on experiencing college life. It won't kill you."

Chen Fan couldn't win against her, so he eventually followed her into the school.

The teaching building was an old one, with pale yellow paint on the walls and old-fashioned iron railings on the stairs that made a thumping sound when stepped on.

Chen Tong dragged him up to the third floor at a light jog and stopped at the door of a classroom at the end of the corridor.

"This is it."

She lowered her voice, pushed the door open, peeked inside, then turned back to wave at Chen Fan: "Come in quick, the teacher is writing on the board at the front."

Chen Fan bit the bullet and followed her in.

The classroom was large, with thirty or forty people sitting inside.

Chen Tong crouched slightly as she walked in, and Chen Fan followed behind her, feeling several gazes land on them—some curious, some appraising, and a few girls huddled together whispering something.

Chen Tong stopped in a row near the back middle, where three girls were sitting. There happened to be two empty seats next to them.

She sat in the inner seat first, then pointed to the seat next to it, signaling Chen Fan to sit down.

As soon as he sat down, a short-haired girl next to Chen Tong leaned over and whispered: "Tongtong, is this your boyfriend?"

"What are you saying? This is my cousin, my actual cousin."

Chen Tong rolled her eyes at her and added, "Chen Fan, this is my roommate, Zhou Yumeng."

"Hello, Sister Yumeng."

Chen Fan looked at Zhou Yumeng, a girl with short hair who looked a bit cute, but not exactly very pretty—probably not the pretty best friend Chen Tong had mentioned.

He looked at the other two girls on the end.

The one by the window had a ponytail, regular features, and wore black-rimmed glasses, looking quite gentle, but she just had the appearance of an ordinary girl.

And the one sitting next to her—

Chen Fan's gaze paused.

The girl was looking down, writing something in a notebook, her side profile facing him. Her skin was very fair, her eyelashes long, and her hair was loose, with slightly curled ends resting on her shoulders.

She seemed to sense someone looking at her and looked up, meeting Chen Fan's gaze directly.

Her eyes were large, with a round almond shape, and the outer corners drooped slightly, making her look exceptionally innocent. Her pupils were dark and bright, carrying a hint of naive light. She blinked, then looked at Chen Fan.

Her gaze was initially blank, as if she hadn't yet realized why a strange boy was sitting there. Then it slowly focused, lingering on Chen Fan's face for two seconds, as if confirming something. Finally, as if she suddenly realized someone was watching her, a flash of embarrassment crossed her eyes, the corners of her mouth curved slightly, and she gave him a slightly shy smile.

When she smiled, her eyes curved into two crescents, and her aegyo-sal were plump, making her look sweet and soft.

Chen Tong leaned over and whispered: "That's my best friend, Su Mian. Pretty, right? She's still single."

"She is indeed pretty. But, she's so pretty and still single?"

"She's a bit silly~"

Chen Fan was stunned: "Silly?"

"Not that kind of silly," Chen Tong waved her hand and leaned in closer, "It's just... ditsy, you know? Her reactions are a half-beat slow. Sometimes when you talk to her, she needs three seconds to react. She even trips on flat ground while walking. Last time at the cafeteria entrance, on perfectly flat ground, she managed to trip over her own feet."

Chen Fan couldn't help but glance at Su Mian again.

She happened to look up just then, her gaze blankly directed at the podium, as if trying to find where the teacher was in the lecture.

Chen Tong whispered from the side: "See? Just like that. She zones out in class, and when she finishes zoning out, she has no idea where they are in the lecture."

Chen Fan's mouth twitched, but he didn't say anything.

Su Mian seemed to sense someone looking at her and turned her head, her gaze meeting Chen Fan's directly.

She was startled for a moment, blinked, then gave him a slightly dazed smile—her eyes curved into two crescents, her aegyo-sal plump, sweet and soft, but her eyes clearly read, "Who is this guy again?"

Chen Tong, suppressing a laugh, mouthed to Su Mian: "My brother."

Su Mian watched Chen Tong's mouth, reacted for two seconds, then realized with a sudden "Oh—", nodded, smiled at Chen Fan again, and turned back to continue listening to the lecture.

Chen Fan suddenly understood what Chen Tong meant by "silly."

However, this kind of girl is probably what most men like.
