89: Chapter 89 The fortune teller said I can't become an official.
Soon, it was the turn of the guys from Chen Fan's dorm.
First up was Liu Zhipeng.
He stood on the podium, his slightly chubby figure planting itself there, and before he even opened his mouth, he grinned, naturally radiating a sense of humor.
"Hello everyone, my name is Liu Zhipeng, and I come from the Northeast—"
He paused and scratched his head, as if he had suddenly forgotten his lines.
Someone in the audience chuckled softly.
Liu Zhipeng wasn't nervous; he simply spread his hands and smiled even more generously, "What do I like? I like to eat, I like to play, and I like making friends. Anyway, we'll be hanging out together for the next four years, so if there's anything good to eat, remember to call me, and if there's anything fun to do, remember to call me too!"
A burst of laughter and applause rang out below. This guy had a natural talent for making people relax; just standing there, he seemed like an old friend.
After Liu Zhipeng came down, Wang Lei stood up, adjusted his collar, and walked up to the podium.
"Hello everyone, my name is Wang Lei, and I come from Gansu Province. As for hobbies, playing basketball, watching movies—" He paused and glanced in the direction where Zhao Zitong was sitting, "Also, I served as a class monitor in high school, and I hope to continue serving my classmates in university. I hope everyone will support me."
As soon as he finished speaking, a knowing laughter came from below. This was obviously mimicking Zhao Zitong's introduction, and looking at it, Wang Lei also wanted to compete for the position of class monitor.
Wang Lei didn't panic; he smiled at the audience and walked back to his seat.
Next was Zhang Yuhang.
He walked onto the podium expressionlessly. Standing there, at 1.8 meters tall with a refined face, he actually had the air of a male lead in an idol drama.
"Hello everyone, my name is Zhang Yuhang, and I come from Shanxi Province."
That was it.
With just that one sentence, he turned and walked off the podium.
The audience was quiet for two seconds, then someone couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Liu Zhipeng stifled his laughter and whispered, "Yuhang is really saving effort here..."
Wang Lei also laughed, "Better than that 'That's it' from before; at least he said his province."
Zhang Yuhang returned to his seat and sat down expressionlessly, as if nothing had happened. But if you looked closely, you could see the tips of his ears were slightly red.
"Next—"
Liu Zhipeng nudged Chen Fan, "It's your turn, it's your turn."
Chen Fan stood up and walked to the podium unhurriedly.
"Hello everyone, my name is Chen Fan, and I am from here in Qin Province."
"My hobbies are playing video games and reading novels."
Someone below chuckled softly, probably not expecting such a handsome guy to have such ordinary hobbies.
Chen Fan ignored them and continued,
"Also, I hope everyone will support my roommate Wang Lei to be the class monitor."
As soon as he finished speaking, a burst of laughter and jeering broke out below.
Just then, the counselor Counselor Shen Na on the side spoke up with a smile, "Chen Fan, you support others to be class monitor, why don't you be the class monitor yourself? You scored 709 points in the college entrance exam, which is the highest score in the School of Management this year."
After hearing Counselor Shen Na's words, the crowd below began to whisper.
Even Shen Qing, who had been keeping her head down looking at her phone, couldn't help but raise her head to look at Chen Fan.
"709 points? Is that for real? That score could even get you into Tsinghua or Peking University."
"How much higher is that than our class average..."
"It's one thing to be handsome, but to have such a high score too."
...
Hearing Counselor Shen Na's words, Chen Fan chuckled, "When I was a kid, a fortune teller said I couldn't be an official, and even if I were one, I'd be the type to prey on the common people, so I'd better not harm my classmates."
As soon as he finished speaking, the room burst into laughter.
Counselor Shen Na also smiled until her eyes curved, "Your excuse is quite novel."
However, since Chen Fan was unwilling to be the class monitor, Counselor Shen Na wouldn't force him.
"Alright, you can go down."
Chen Fan walked back to his seat unhurriedly. Wang Lei immediately leaned over and lowered his voice, "Chen Fan, just now... thanks."
"It's nothing." Chen Fan leaned back in his chair, his tone casual, "If you become class monitor, it'll be good for our dorm too."
He was telling the truth. Having a roommate as the class monitor would make asking for leave, receiving notifications, and handling all sorts of miscellaneous matters much more convenient. He didn't like being this wretched class monitor anyway, so instead of letting someone he didn't know be it, it was better to push his own person up.
Chen Fan was the last one to introduce himself. After he stepped down, Counselor Shen Na looked at the crowd and said, "Now that everyone knows each other, for the sake of easier management in the future, we need to elect a class monitor. Anyone who wants to run can just come up to the stage."
As soon as she finished speaking, Zhao Zitong stood up and walked to the podium unhurriedly.
"Hello everyone, it's me again." She paused and scanned the classroom, "When I introduced myself earlier, I said I wanted to be class monitor."
"My three years of experience as class monitor in high school taught me that the position of class monitor is ultimately about serving everyone. If I have this opportunity, I will treat every small matter seriously, do my best to cooperate with the teacher, and do my best to make everyone's university life smoother. Whether it's matters regarding studies or daily life, as long as everyone needs it, I will do my best to help everyone."
She bowed slightly.
"Thank you everyone."
After speaking, she walked off the podium. A burst of applause rang out below, much more enthusiastic than before.
After Zhao Zitong came down, Wang Lei also stood up. He took a deep breath, walked to the podium, and after standing still, cleared his throat.
"Hello everyone, I am Wang Lei, and I also want to run for class monitor." He paused, seemingly thinking about what to say next, "I also served as a class monitor in high school, so I roughly know what this position entails. If I have the opportunity to continue being class monitor, I will do my best to do every task well and serve everyone. I hope everyone will support me."
Compared to Zhao Zitong's speech, Wang Lei's was much simpler. A burst of applause rang out below; it wasn't enthusiastic, but it wasn't awkward either.
After Wang Lei stepped down, the classroom was quiet for a few seconds; no one else came up to the stage.
Counselor Shen Na looked at the people present, "Are there no others who want to run for class monitor?"
After waiting for ten seconds, no one came up.
"Alright then, so it's just Zhao Zitong and Wang Lei." Counselor Shen Na picked up a stack of pre-cut white paper from the podium and waved it, "Now let's start voting. Everyone write the name of the person you support on the paper, then fold it up and pass it up."
The white paper was passed from the front row to the back, one sheet for each person. When it reached the last row, there were a few sheets short, so Counselor Shen Na added a few more.
Chen Fan received the paper, picked up a pen, wrote the two characters "Wang Lei" on it, folded it twice, and held it in his hand.
Liu Zhipeng leaned over to take a look and whispered, "I wrote Wang Lei too."
Zhang Yuhang didn't speak, but placed his folded paper on the desk; the meaning was very clear—he was the same.
"Our dorm is definitely a united front." Wang Lei whispered from his spot, his tone carrying a touch of emotion.
Chen Fan glanced at him, "Don't be sentimental, hurry up and write yours."
Wang Lei chuckled and lowered his head to write his name—he couldn't vote for himself, so he voted for Zhao Zitong.
After writing, everyone passed the slips of paper forward, handing them to the podium in stacks.
