101: Chapter 101 Despair is terrible

“Report, Officer, I… I am an Enforcers.” The Red-Clothed Man replied tremblingly, completely losing his initial arrogance.

While Fangfang was asking, Oriental Chen also explained related matters to her through the bone microphone, allowing her to quickly understand everything.

“Why did you attack the Commander-in-Chiefs office?” Fangfang continued to ask.

“This… this was actually a planned operation. However, we discovered that your Soldiers were wearing those strange Combat Suits, which made them immune to the virus and able to easily kill zombies. So, we had no choice but to postpone the attack plan,” the Red-Clothed Man explained, trembling.

With such cowardice, they still dared to attack the Military Region Commander-in-Chiefs office? And almost breached it? Fangfang was speechless, feeling that the current deployment of the Military Region could no longer keep up with the changing situation.

“And then? What was your plan?” Fangfang continued to ask.

“The original plan was to mobilize Yun Du City's zombies to attack the Commander-in-Chiefs office to draw fire. While we would secretly infiltrate and capture… capture…” He dared not finish his sentence.

“What a brilliant feint and deception!” Fangfang understood and exclaimed!

They had been targeted for a long time.

“You have a lot of guts! How dare you openly target the Commander! Tell me! What was the purpose of your actions?” Fangfang reprimanded.

“I… I don't know either! We just followed orders!” The Red-Clothed Man was terrified and appeared very wronged.

“Alright, then I ask you, how did you know the exact location of the Commander-in-Chiefs office, and how were you familiar with the internal structure of the Military Region?” Fangfang changed her question.

“I don't know, I really don't know! The Holy Emissary, yes, the Holy Emissary, he knows. He told us not to ask too many questions and just follow him,” the man explained nervously.

Fangfang saw that this Red-Clothed Man knew nothing, and she was getting a little impatient.

“One last question for you, how much do you know about the Spirit Summoning Technique?” Fangfang asked.

Oriental Chen had asked her to ask these questions. This was her first time encountering the Red Coat Sect today, and she couldn't think of so many questions.

“I've only heard of the Spirit Summoning Technique, I've never seen it. I only know that the Holy Emissary can use the Spirit Summoning Technique to control zombies,” the man replied.

“So, those zombies outside were brought by that damn Holy Emissary controlling the 3rd-tier Zombie just now?” This question was asked by Fangfang herself.

The 3rd-tier Zombie outside couldn't have attacked the Commander-in-Chiefs office for no reason; it must have been that Holy Emissary pulling strings behind the scenes.

“Yes!” The man replied.

Fangfang nodded.

“Officer, you just said you could cure me, is that true?” The Red-Clothed Man tentatively asked.

“You think too much! After causing so many deaths, you still want to live?” Fangfang was still processing the information, and hearing this, she was so angry she laughed.

“Officer, it really wasn't my fault! I was just following orders. Oh, by the way, Officer, I can join you! You must save me!” The man knelt on the ground and pleaded.

“Take him out and execute him! It's unbelievable that such a person could cause so much trouble!” Fangfang ordered.

“Yes!”

“Mercy! Mercy, Officer!” The man cried out, but no one paid him any attention.

Several Zhanfeng Assault Team members dragged him out directly.

As for the Holy Emissary, Oriental Chen said he would arrive soon, and they would interrogate him when he came.

Fangfang had Yan Zhengping carried to the bed in the Commander-in-Chiefs office inner room, to be well cared for, awaiting Oriental Chen's arrival for treatment.

Tong Li had already quietly left to avoid attracting attention.

It was already past four in the morning.

As if sensitive to time, or perhaps light, the zombies stopped attacking and retreated towards Yun Du City.

The second line of defense was not breached, and the Soldiers all breathed a sigh of relief.

The special forces directly under the Military Region, protected by their Combat Suits, pursued, continuously killing the retreating zombies.

The other divisions began to gather and take roll call.

The final count showed over 1,200 injured and over 1,500 dead, a truly heavy casualty toll.

For the injured Soldiers, the division Commanders could only helplessly isolate them first.

In the past, they would only engage in small-scale, localized battles with zombies when absolutely necessary, with at most ten or so injured at a time. Because there was no effective medicine, they could only watch these Soldiers slowly zombify and then be killed. This had happened countless times.

But this time was different; too many people were injured! Over a thousand people! The thought of only being able to watch these comrades zombify and then be killed sent everyone's emotions plummeting to rock bottom.

They didn't die at the hands of zombies, but they would die from the virus.

Most of them had only suffered minor injuries, why? Why couldn't they survive? Looking at their comrades walking further and further into the isolation zone, everyone's eyes turned red. Some Soldiers, easily moved to tears, were already weeping.

“Attention, all!” A military officer shouted loudly.

Everyone stood at attention.

“Salute!” The officer hoarsely shouted the command.

“Whoosh!”

The tens of thousands of Soldiers on site, watching their comrades walk into the isolation zone, uniformly stood at attention and saluted.

The over 1,200 Soldiers standing in the isolation zone turned their heads and saw this scene.

They understood what this military salute meant, and they also understood what awaited them next.

They all turned around, smiling through their tears.

Then, one by one, they stood at attention and returned the salute.

“Comrades, keep fighting! Death is not terrifying; despair is terrifying!”

This was their wish, and also their heartfelt sentiment.
