139: Chapter 139 Ideological Work among Students
The trainees remained silent, lowering their heads. They already understood Oriental Chen’s meaning.
The training during this period had made them complacent.
They thought they already possessed the power to contend with this era.
But in reality, their hearts were fragile.
Their strength was Vulnerable.
“Do you have the right to demand an explanation? Clearly not!” Oriental Chen continued.
“I hope you understand, the one who truly needs an explanation is me.”
“I provided you with the best training conditions, yet you gave me the most abysmal results. Based on your current performance, it’s hard for me to imagine how you will lead more people to survive in such an era.”
“Alright, no more nonsense. If anyone still feels it’s unfair, you can put down your weapons and equipment and leave here. Perhaps outside, there will be what you call fairness.”
At this point, Oriental Chen paused for a minute.
He was watching to see if anyone would still come forward, which was also giving them a chance to choose freely.
He did not like to force others.
One minute passed, and no one came forward.
“Not bad. You have more guts than I imagined.” Oriental Chen nodded slightly and said.
“Since no one chose to leave, then let me show you a clip first.”
With that, Oriental Chen waved his hand, and a huge image appeared in the sky.
Everyone looked up at the video.
The image showed a city, but its location was unknown.
Initially, everything seemed normal, but everyone knew that something unusual was about to happen.
“Look!” someone whispered.
In the distance, on the street, something seemed to be crawling. Immediately after, more insects appeared. The scene was like a locust plague.
Some were crawling on the ground, others were flying in the air.
Wherever they passed, not a blade of grass grew.
Even the zombies hiding in the darkness let out growls.
Gradually, these insects approached, and they could be seen clearly.
They were cockroaches!
They were actually as large as the cars next to them.
The streets were full of them, densely packed, stretching as far as the eye could see.
Everyone who saw this scene felt their scalps tingle.
Just what was shown in the camera, there were at least hundreds of thousands of them.
Suddenly, the image disappeared.
“Alright, everyone has seen it. This scene is real and happened on a street in Guangchen City, Dongzhou Province. I now ask everyone again, do you still think it’s unfair to fight tens of thousands of harmless spider robots?”
“In the face of survival, fairness is just an excuse for the weak!”
“You’ve all seen it, this is reality, and these are the challenges you are about to face. You are not fighting for me; you are fighting for yourselves.”
“This is just the beginning. Now answer me, do you have the guts?” Oriental Chen asked loudly.
“Yes!” the crowd replied.
“Good! This is the first and last time I will do ideological work for you. In the future, there will be none!”
“If anyone still feels it’s unfair, then just leave!”
“Dismissed!”
“Whoosh~”
All the robots uniformly lowered their front claws and retreated in an orderly fashion.
The trainees remained silent.
Many people came to their senses and regretted their actions.
In just over a month, they had forgotten their past fear and despair.
Just as Oriental Chen said: In dangerous environments, groups form a cohesive unity, whereas in comfortable environments, ideological divisions arise.
From the trainees’ performance, the harm brought by comfort was evident.
If not for facing such a severe survival challenge, perhaps these people would not have stood together at all, let alone accepted such training.
The next day, training continued as usual.
Having experienced the previous day’s torment, the trainees became much more cautious.
With the threat of flying robots, the outdoors became unsafe. They could only use the building as a stronghold and began to defend it strictly.
To achieve better results and last longer, they used cars to build fortresses, and their own flesh and blood to buy time for their companions, in short, they stopped at nothing.
Although defeating tens of thousands of robots was still unrealistic, and even lasting 24 hours was a luxury.
But they were growing rapidly in continuous battles.
...
“Mr. Dongfang, is there any new movement in Funing District?” Rong Po asked in front of the map.
“What do you mean?” Oriental Chen asked.
“I found that the streets of Funing District change every day. These past two days, there hasn’t been a single abandoned vehicle on the streets.” Rong Po said.
“You observe quite carefully. But you, the Chief Instructor, are a bit too idle, aren’t you! Instead of carefully studying the trainees’ performance, you’re observing my streets.” Oriental Chen chuckled.
“Just a quick look!” Rong Po laughed.
He couldn’t say that he had promised Commander Yan to gather more intelligence.
How could Oriental Chen not know his little schemes? He deliberately let him see.
Sometimes, it’s more credible and effective to let others discover your strength on their own than to eagerly try to prove it to them.
