684: Chapter 684 Are You Taking Credit?

Oriental Chen and Old Qin had already seen this scene on the big screen.

Old Qin's face was very grim.

Oriental Chen didn't speak; this matter didn't require his intervention.

"Baili Ji, what in the world are you doing?" Old Qin called Baili Ji directly.

"Old Qin, what's wrong?" Baili Ji was confused.

"Oriental Chen's people went to take over, why were the people detained?"

"Detained? No! I've already instructed the Kyoto Habitat Base personnel to handle the handover as per your request, haven't I?" Baili Ji replied.

"Hmph! The people were detained right after leaving the door. Do you dare say it has nothing to do with you?" Old Qin said grumpily.

The people were taken away right outside the Command HQ. If there was no instruction from above, who would have such guts?

"Is that so? I really don't know! How about this, I'll look into the situation and get back to you shortly."

20 minutes later.

"Old Qin, the situation has been clarified. It was just a misunderstanding. I've already given instructions, and the people will be released soon," Baili Ji replied.

"Instruct them to hand over those bandits as well," Old Qin added.

"This... okay!" Baili Ji wanted to say something more but didn't.

...

Inside Kyoto Habitat Base.

"I'm really sorry, brothers, it was all a misunderstanding." The Security Captain was like a changed man now, all smiles and apologies.

The Special Operations Team said nothing and walked out of the detention room.

"This is bad, Captain, we were momentarily careless and let them escape!" Suddenly, a Security Guard ran over to report.

"Escaped? What are you good for? Huh? You can't even keep a few people in check, what's the use of you?" The Security Captain scolded.

"What's going on?" The Special Operations Team frowned.

This whole matter reeked of strangeness. Clearly, some people were in cahoots with Zhang Jue.

Otherwise, how could such a coincidence happen?

The Special Operations Team looked at the Security Captain.

"I'm really sorry, this was my oversight," the Security Captain apologized with a smile.

"Is this an apology? Why do I feel like you're trying to take credit?" The Special Operations Team looked at him with a scrutinizing gaze.

"Huh? What do you mean?" The Security Captain was taken aback.

"Seal off the base. Arrange for dozens of 9th Order masters to come with me to catch them!" The Special Operations Team said no more.

Zhang Jue and his five subordinates were still wearing the Immortal-Binding Neck Cuffs, which had GPS tracking, so they couldn't run far.

"Okay, I'll arrange it right away." The Security Guard nodded and left.

Oriental Chen's side was already watching the base's surveillance footage.

In the video, over a dozen Cultivators who still possessed strength hijacked the Security Guard, broke out of prison, and escaped.

It looked normal, but the situation was very illogical.

If the base was sealed off, where could they run?

Since they couldn't escape, why take the risk of breaking out of prison?

Why did the Security Guard's actions seem to be cooperating with them?

"Old Qin, did we overlook something?" Oriental Chen asked.

"I'm also thinking about that. Should we detain the Security Team and interrogate them?"

"Not yet, let's continue watching the show and see if we discover anything."

"Alright."

The Special Operations Team didn't immediately pursue; instead, they went to the airfield and summoned their mecha spacecraft.

Now, each member of the Special Operations Team had a set of mecha spacecraft; flying directly to the moon was not an issue.

Wearing the mecha, they could easily subdue those Cultivators.

"Dad, what is this thing? Why do I feel like I can't exert any strength?"

"I'm not sure either. Perhaps it's a weapon they developed specifically for Cultivators." Zhang Jue shook his head.

"Let's go back first and figure out how to cut it off."

The few of them, carried by other subordinates, quickly moved through the base's bustling urban area, not daring to stop for a moment.

Two hours later, they collectively entered a sundry shop and never came out again.

After putting on their mecha, the Special Operations Team immediately flew towards the located area.

The other Security Guard who were called in didn't have this equipment and could only drive the base's internal commuter vehicles to fly over.

Inside the sundry shop.

"Zzz~"

A bespectacled craftsman was carefully cutting Zhang Jue's neck cuff with an angle grinder.

"Curator, it's no good. Two cutting discs have already been scrapped, and it simply won't cut through." The craftsman tried for a long time before giving up.

"I don't know what material this is, it's so hard."

The Immortal-Binding Neck Cuffs were made of pseudo-vibranium; steel blades couldn't cut through them.

"Uncle Peng, you must think of a way. With this thing stuck on our necks, we can't circulate the spiritual energy within our bodies at all."

"Girl, there's really no way. Only the one who tied the bell can untie it. I'm afraid you'll have to find the person who locked it," Peng Chi shook his head.

"They are Jiang Ziya's people, why would they help us unlock it?"

"I'll try to think of another way!" Peng Chi sighed.

"Girl, I have a feeling they might not be Jiang Ziya's people," Zhang Jue said.
