48: Chapter 48 It's a trap
“Luoer, eliminate the Tier 1 Zombies first,” Shen Wengang shouted.
The two continuously changed positions, eliminating approaching Tier 1 Zombies one by one while moving. The Tier 2 Zombie, however, slowly followed from a distance, seemingly in no hurry to attack.
When the two began their attack, the two mechanical dogs had already pounced. However, the zombies neither dodged nor attacked them. The most likely reason was that the mechanical dogs had no life aura. Thus, the mechanical dogs entered the zombie horde as if entering an unmanned territory.
Each energy stick of the Guardian 1 Laser Gun could fire a maximum of 60 shots, and the energy quickly ran out. There were too many zombies, and they were too close, leaving no time to replace the energy sticks. They could only pull out the daggers strapped to their legs and begin hand-to-hand combat.
“Brother, why isn't it over inside yet? It’s been so long,” one of the people hiding in the shadows outside asked.
The leading man did not answer, frowning as he continued to listen to the movements inside.
They were the three people who had come to Mos with Shen Wengang and Luoer to carry out the recruitment mission.
The scene returned to the supermarket interior.
Although the two were not afraid of being bitten by zombies, there were simply too many. Before long, they were already exhausted.
Suddenly, the leading Tier 2 Zombie moved. Its speed was incredibly fast, heading straight for Shen Wengang.
Luoer saw this, but before she could warn him, he was sent flying by a punch.
“Brother!” Luoer shouted loudly, but the zombies constantly entangled her, leaving her unable to split her attention.
Shen Wengang was suddenly attacked, his chest heaving violently. He could only kneel there, clutching his chest, breathing heavily.
Soon, the zombies surrounded him again.
Luoer grew anxious, let out a loud cry, and threw her dagger directly.
A miraculous scene appeared. The dagger she threw did not fall to the ground but flew through the air. After passing through one zombie's head, it circled back to pierce another zombie's head.
Indeed, this was Luoer's mutated ability: Mental Control.
However, due to a lack of training and everyone spoiling her, her mastery of this ability was mediocre.
This enraged the Tier 2 Zombie. With a fierce roar, all the zombies swarmed towards Luoer.
Seeing this, Shen Wengang was greatly alarmed. Without thinking, he endured the pain, stood up, and quickly pursued.
Seeing that Luoer was about to be squeezed in the middle and unable to move, Shen Wengang, in a moment of desperation, activated his pendant. 100,000 invisible nanobots surged from his body, heading straight for the zombies.
“Luoer, activate your pendant!” Shen Wengang shouted.
Soon, the zombies began to become chaotic. They no longer Siege Luoer but fled in all directions, flailing their limbs, screaming loudly. Slowly, they collapsed to the ground, motionless.
Both of them breathed a sigh of relief.
Luoer quickly ran to her brother, and the two mechanical dogs also returned to their side after all the zombies had fallen.
Now, only the Tier 2 Zombie standing at the back remained.
It was very angry, roaring fiercely.
The two dogs also bared their fierce fangs, bravely guarding their owners.
“Luoer, can you still hold on?” Shen Wengang asked.
“Yes!” Luoer nodded.
“Good. Next, I'll use the Laser Gun to attract its attention, and you use Mental Control to control the dagger to attack its leg joints,” Shen Wengang instructed while changing the Laser Gun's magazine.
“Okay!” Luoer readily agreed.
“Alright! Listen for my command, get ready… start!” Shen Wengang ordered, firing first.
Luoer extended her hand, controlling the dagger to fly towards the Tier 2 Zombie's joint.
The skin on the joint was also very tough; the dagger pierced it repeatedly several times but failed to break through.
Luoer was already drenched in sweat; this certainly wouldn't work.
Shen Wengang made a decisive move, aimed the Laser Gun at the knee joint, and switched to continuous fire mode.
The high temperature caused by the continuous laser bombardment greatly weakened the hardness of the joint's skin. Luoer also understood her brother's intention and, when the joint began to turn red, decisively struck.
The dagger successfully passed through the zombie's joint. With a cracking sound, the leg joint broke, and the zombie lost its balance, collapsing to the ground.
At this moment, Luoer had no strength left and fainted on the ground.
Shen Wengang quickly stepped forward, gripped the dagger, and attacked the same spot on the zombie's head again and again.
After an unknown number of stabs, the zombie's scalp was finally pierced. His strength grew weaker and weaker, but he continued to stab downwards.
The zombie stopped struggling, and the entire supermarket finally fell silent.
Shen Wengang gradually lost strength and collapsed onto the zombie, falling asleep.
“Brother, it’s quiet!” one of the people outside said.
“Shut up!” the person called Boss Mei scolded, then pressed his ear against the wall, continuing to eavesdrop.
After repeated confirmation that it was indeed quiet, the three cautiously walked to the door, pressed the button, and opened the closed iron gate.
They naturally dared not enter, only observing from the doorway. After waiting a long time with no special circumstances, they turned and left.
...
Mozhou City, Suiyang Anbu.
“Boss Mei, the matter is settled,” said the leading man who had rushed back from Mozhou City.
“Hm, well done. Go claim your reward!” Mei Wenhua took a sip of tea, speaking indifferently.
“Thank you, Boss Mei!” the man bowed and thanked him, then turned and left.
“Boss Mei, what next?” the Young woman standing beside him asked.
“Let’s wait for a bit. According to the Divine Envoy, Naner might just be promoted to Tier 3. At this time, we must be careful; it's not suitable to bring more people over in the short term,” Mei Wenhua said.
“Yes!” the Young woman replied.
