556: Chapter 556: No Need to Be So Luxurious
Once the direction was set, targeted plans could be formulated.
Now that the survival bases for Huaguo and Olos Country had been built, the next was the United States of America.
Oriental Chen's consistent stance was not to give things away for free, because giving things away for free would only cultivate lazy good-for-nothings.
If he wanted to unite them, they had to be obedient.
So, he couldn't give them candy; he had to give them a stick.
Once he understood this, it became much easier.
He immediately called the Maya High Priest.
"Hello, Mr. Dongfang."
"High Priest, something just occurred to me, and I wanted to consult you about it," Oriental Chen said, getting straight to the point.
"Please speak."
"Has the border of the United States of America been blockaded by you?"
"Yes, it has."
"Would you mind telling me the specific reason?" Oriental Chen asked.
This question was a bit out of line, as it had nothing to do with him.
"Mr. Dongfang, are you trying to intercede for them?" the High Priest asked.
He could sense a hint of dissatisfaction in his tone.
To put it bluntly, this was interfering in the affairs of another country.
"No, not at all. I'm just curious," Oriental Chen explained.
"If that's the case, there's no harm in telling you. You should be aware that our people were once massacred on a large scale, and our land was plundered. Such a result is their own doing."
This was a tragic history. During the Age of Discovery, Europeans came to the American continent and killed a large number of indigenous people.
"I understand," Oriental Chen sighed.
He truly had no right to question this matter.
"Thank you for your understanding," the High Priest said politely.
"I called you today because I have a business deal to discuss with you. I wonder if you're interested." Since there was no need to win over the United States of America, he simply moved on to the next step.
"Please speak."
"According to my analysis, Blue Star will be in an ice age for a long time to come. Widespread global cooling is already unavoidable, and the surface living environment will become increasingly harsh."
"That's right." The High Priest was clearly aware of this.
"I have underground base construction technology here. I wonder if you're interested?"
"Your underground base is magnificent. In comparison, our environment is much simpler. However, I believe as long as it's habitable, there's no need for it to be so luxurious." The High Priest clearly wasn't very interested.
Oriental Chen was determined to close this deal. On one hand, the Maya people had a large amount of zhen crystal, and he definitely had to find a way to get it. On the other hand, the Maya people's ability to resist risks was still too low.
The United States of America could become a ticking time bomb at any moment, and once it was controlled by the Moni People, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Furthermore, their weapons of mass destruction could also inflict serious damage on the Maya people.
Therefore, whether it was for him to earn zhen crystal or to help them improve their survival capabilities, the Maya people had to agree to build the base.
"This isn't for your enjoyment; it's to increase your chances of defeating the Moni People," Oriental Chen began to try and persuade him.
"What do you mean by that?"
"The United States of America possesses nuclear weapons, and your ability to resist risks is too poor. I imagine that's also why you've surrounded them but haven't attacked, isn't it?" Oriental Chen asked.
"Yes, it is," the High Priest replied.
"So, if you have an underground base, you won't have to worry about that aspect anymore."
He only stated a secondary reason, and did not mention that the people of the United States of America also had a chance of turning into Moni People. Otherwise, given their way of doing things, they might attack regardless of the consequences, ultimately leading to mutual destruction.
"Can an underground base prevent that?" The High Priest didn't know the base had this function.
"You don't think a protective shield can only be installed on a spaceship, do you?" Oriental Chen asked with a smile.
"I understand. I will report this matter to the Great Priest and get back to you shortly." The High Priest had been persuaded.
"Alright, I'll await your news."
...
"You did very well!" Monga praised.
"Don't misunderstand, I'm just doing it to earn zhen crystal," Oriental Chen quickly interjected.
"What did you say? zhen crystal?" Monga asked.
"Yeah, what about it?" Oriental Chen asked.
"They have zhen crystal?" Monga was incredulous.
"Yeah. Why are you making such a fuss?" Oriental Chen was baffled.
"Do you have a sample? Let me see!" Monga said.
"It's at the base. I'll bring it to you next time I deliver supplies," Oriental Chen said.
"Good!"
"Do you know how to use zhen crystal?" Oriental Chen's eyes lit up.
"Of course!"
"Hurry up and tell me!" Oriental Chen urged.
This was related to his next generation of weapons.
If zhen crystal could be used as an energy core, it might be possible to create true combat robots.
"The energy core of this spaceship is zhen crystal. The massive amount of energy it stores can help the spaceship achieve interstellar travel."
Oriental Chen knew this point as well.
"How is zhen crystal charged?" This was the question he cared about most.
"Not here; only in a location very close to a star," Monga replied.
