32: Chapter 32 Future Scenario
Oriental Chen was extremely annoyed inside.
Yan Fangfang was still making a fuss outside. However, he could tell that the knocking and shouting were not as intense as they were at first, presumably because she was tired.
After a long silence, although Oriental Chen was extremely unwilling, he still reluctantly sat up and said to Xiao Lin:
"Xiao Lin, make an animated demonstration of the entire process you just described."
"Yes, Commander," Xiao Lin replied.
For an artificial intelligence, this kind of thing takes mere minutes.
Subsequently, Oriental Chen had Xiao Lin open the door.
Seeing the door open, Yan Fangfang walked in angrily.
But once she was inside, her courage faltered.
She had been shouting threats outside, but when she actually saw him, she didn't dare to utter a sound.
She just stood there dumbfounded, wanting to speak, but not knowing how.
"What, weren't you going to kill me? Why aren't you doing anything?" Oriental Chen mocked.
"Boss, I was wrong!" Yan Fangfang lowered her head and mumbled softly.
"What was that?" Oriental Chen pretended not to hear and asked loudly.
"Boss! I was wrong!" The first time is awkward, the second time is familiar. This time, Yan Fangfang shouted very loudly.
"Then tell me, where were you wrong?" Oriental Chen asked, feigning arrogance.
"I shouldn't have acted on my own," Yan Fangfang replied.
"And what else?" Oriental Chen continued to ask.
"I shouldn't have lost my temper with you," Yan Fangfang replied.
"And what else?" Oriental Chen pressed on relentlessly.
"What else? There's nothing else?" Yan Fangfang thought for a long time but couldn't think of anything.
"Think again!"
"There really isn't!" Yan Fangfang spread her hands.
"Your attitude towards admitting mistakes isn't proper!" Oriental Chen leaned back on the sofa and shook his head.
"Then you tell me! If what you say is right, I'll change!" Yan Fangfang completely let go. Since she had already lowered her head, she couldn't let all her efforts go to waste.
"I can list many things. Look, you're naive, arrogant, ill-tempered, self-righteous, disrespectful of elders and children, undisciplined, unable to see the big picture, forming cliques, attempting to leak team secrets, betraying teammates..." Oriental Chen enumerated each point on his fingers.
"What do you mean disrespectful of elders and children, forming cliques, leaking secrets, betraying teammates? Don't slander me, I didn't do any of that!" Yan Fangfang denied.
"Alright, if you don't admit it, I'll explain each point to you."
Oriental Chen cleared his throat, extended his finger, and began his performance:
"First, disrespecting elders and children. I ask you, am I not younger than you? And by at least seven years, right? You yell at me all day long, do you call that respecting elders and children?"
"I... you..." Well, Yan Fangfang was speechless for a long time.
"Second, let's talk about forming cliques. Do you and a few others often stay together? Do you often whisper secretly in private? And use sign language? Why? Are you afraid of someone hearing something they shouldn't?"
"You're monitoring me?" Yan Fangfang asked, pointing at him in surprise.
"What's with 'monitoring'? That sounds so unpleasant. I am the highest Commander of the base, and I have an obligation to ensure the absolute safety of the base. Furthermore, there's nothing in this base that I don't know about," Oriental Chen said, feigning arrogance.
She couldn't refute this point when it was pointed out directly to her face.
Seeing Yan Fangfang remain silent, Oriental Chen continued his triumphant performance:
"Third, attempting to leak secrets. Wow, this is very serious! You could be executed. Do you often secretly take out your phone and take pictures, snap photos? Don't tell me you're posting them to your Moments. Besides, even posting to Moments isn't allowed!"
Well, since she was being monitored, it was normal for him to know these things. No wonder the photos she had clearly taken couldn't be found in her album. Especially some important photos, which inexplicably disappeared. It turned out this guy was behind it all.
"I won't even mention betraying teammates. You don't even care about the safety of your own subordinates, so what's betraying other guard team members?" Oriental Chen shrugged, feigning indifference.
"Fine! I accept everything you said! Is that enough? Can I rejoin the team?" Yan Fangfang was like a dead pig unafraid of boiling water.
No matter what you say, I just want to rejoin the team.
"Just admitting it isn't enough. You have to apologize, apologize to all the guard team members," Oriental Chen said.
Yan Fangfang gritted her teeth, stomped her foot, and said:
"Fine! I'll apologize! I'll apologize in front of all the team members! Anything else?"
"There's one more thing. I'll tell you after you apologize," Oriental Chen replied with a sly smile.
It wasn't easy to make a proud swan bow her head and admit her mistake. To be honest: it felt quite fulfilling.
Not long after, all guard team members, except for 3 injured ones, gathered in Oriental Chen's office.
In front of all the guard team members, Yan Fangfang lowered her head and spoke in a voice barely louder than a mosquito's hum. She roughly repeated the mistakes she had just mentioned.
Throughout the process, she stammered and mumbled, and the team members standing opposite her couldn't help but lower their heads and secretly snicker.
As they dared not make too much movement, everyone tried hard to hold it in. Several people even snorted snot because of it.
They were all grown men in their thirties; their image, tsk tsk tsk, was not to be admired.
Oriental Chen didn't demand too much anymore; good enough was enough. Pushing too hard might make the swan fly away.
Ten minutes later, Yan Fangfang finished speaking and bowed to everyone.
Thunderous applause erupted in the room. This applause was not to praise how well she spoke, but to praise her growth and her progress.
"Comrades, we must take this as a lesson and not make the same mistakes as Yan Fangfang. In the future, anyone who disobeys orders or refuses arrangements will be mercilessly expelled from the guard team. Did everyone hear me?" After Yan Fangfang finished speaking, Oriental Chen stood up and said.
"Yes, Boss!" everyone responded in unison.
"Good! Yan Fangfang, rejoin the team," Oriental Chen commanded.
"Yes, Boss!" Yan Fangfang replied loudly.
Finally, she had passed the test, and Yan Fangfang breathed a sigh of relief.
"Comrades, there's one more thing I called you to the office for. Next, please watch a video."
Oriental Chen had Xiao Lin play the video.
Everyone watched in confusion as the screen lit up, and enlarged microorganisms floated across the screen.
The video had narration, background music, and subtitles, full of emotion.
A video is indeed simple and intuitive to watch! Oriental Chen couldn't help but praise his own cleverness.
At the beginning of the video, wandering microorganisms crawled onto the dead mutated zombies and began to devour them.
The virus was ingested by the microorganisms, and their genes mutated.
Subsequently, the mutated microorganisms reproduced in large numbers, beginning to spread across oceans and land.
Spherical molecules of (CH4)3, drawn as circles, were continuously released from the microorganisms and gradually ascended into the sky.
Next, the scene entered space, where a close-up of a (CH4)3 molecule, after being exposed to radiation, began to absorb surrounding CH4. Like building blocks, one CH4 after another, transported by O3 and O2, gradually connected with (CH4)3, finally forming a spherical regular dodecahedron. O3 and O2 were ultimately trapped inside.
The camera zoomed in further, and the O3 and O2 inside the sphere trembled under the radiation. As the temperature rose, they gradually became ionized, and 8 oxygen atoms darted around inside the sphere.
As the screen dimmed, the sun set. The 8 oxygen atoms began to calm down, finally arranging themselves into a blood-red cubic structure.
The camera gradually zoomed out, and more and more small circular spheres gathered around, each containing a blood-red cube. The camera pulled further and further away, and a special atmospheric membrane formed by these small spheres began to take shape. From a distance, the membrane showed an eerie, faint red glow.
Schematic light, drawn as straight lines, shone on the membrane; some were reflected back, while others passed through the membrane and shone down.
The perspective followed the penetrating light downwards, passing through the atmosphere and casting onto the ground. The ground was dim, like a cloudy day. Plant leaves gradually turned yellow and withered due to insufficient light absorption.
The background music began to become intense and urgent, and the scene rapidly advanced across the ground, with more and more plants withering and dying, the scene resembling the apocalypse.
The entire Earth's ecosystem is an interdependent whole. A change in one link, like falling dominoes, will affect the entire ecosystem.
Following the beat of the drums, the screen flashed continuously. Animals died, birds died, fish died, cities decayed, crops failed, humans died. Zombies, like ghosts, crawled out from underground and slowly gathered. All kinds of zombie animals and birds filled the underground and the sky. They swept across the globe, devouring all living beings they encountered.
The entire Blue Star seemed to fall into a dim, bloody hell.
As the music ended, the video also finished playing.
