106: Chapter 106 Visiting the Wounded Soldiers

“It was like this: around mid-December, a woman came to the Military Region carrying a child, shouting loudly at the gate. Rong Po and I, along with the Zhanfeng Assault Team, were just about to set out to hunt zombies when we met her at the entrance. We learned from the woman that a group of bandits was plundering the village where they lived. She knelt on the ground, pleading with us to save them, and I agreed without much thought. So, we drove the Zhanfeng Assault Team’s Soldiers quickly to the scene of the incident. As expected, a group of criminals was scavenging, but unfortunately, everyone in the village had already been killed. We apprehended all the criminals and brought them, along with this homeless woman, back to the military camp.” Yan Fangfang roughly explained what happened that day.

“So that’s how it was!” Oriental Chen understood; it was a death trap!

“Truly malicious!” Yan Fangfang was almost fuming.

She had actually used her sympathy to set up such a large scheme, and her momentary kindness had brought such a great disaster to the military and sacrificed so many Soldiers! Yan Fangfang wanted to cry but had no tears, filled with deep regret.

“I told you before to put away your naive sympathy, otherwise it would kill many people. Now you understand, right?” Oriental Chen sighed, patting her shoulder as he spoke.

Yan Fangfang closed her eyes, remaining silent for a long time.

“Do you have anything else to confess?” Oriental Chen turned to look at the Emissary.

“I want to know, do you really have a way to solve our physical problems?” the Emissary asked.

“Not certain, but we can try.” Oriental Chen replied.

The Emissary nodded, took a deep breath, and closed his eyes.

He could finally be free; as long as he didn’t suffer anymore, he would be satisfied.

“I’ll leave him to you.” Oriental Chen patted Yan Fangfang’s shoulder and turned to leave the interrogation room.

Yan Fangfang opened her eyes, as if she had made a decision.

She strode forward, walked up to the Emissary, and twisted his neck.

After leaving the interrogation room, Oriental Chen, accompanied by Yan Fangfang, went to the isolation zone again.

The Soldiers had already had their wounds treated with the help of medical personnel.

Everyone was either quietly lying on their beds reading, or chatting and laughing in groups of three or five, and some with minor injuries were even playing ball outside.

Walking through the isolation zone, there was no hint of gloom.

Seeing Yan Fangfang approach, everyone stood up and saluted.

Yan Fangfang returned their salutes one by one.

“Tell everyone to gather.” Yan Fangfang instructed a Soldier next to her.

“Yes!” The Soldier acknowledged the order and left.

With a series of whistles, the Soldiers quickly ran towards Yan Fangfang.

Then they lined up.

“Attention!”

“At ease!”

After everyone had lined up, Yan Fangfang said:

“Comrades, you are all excellent. In you, I see the hope of defeating the virus! I called you here not to flatter you, but to tell you some good news!” Yan Fangfang shouted loudly, tears of joy welling up in her eyes.

The Soldiers looked at each other, unsure what the good news was.

“We have found a way to treat the virus; everyone is saved!” Yan Fangfang shouted.

Upon hearing this news, the Soldiers’ eyes lit up.

“Instructor Yan, is it true?” a Soldier shouted loudly.

They were afraid of disappointment. If it was just to make everyone happy, it would be better to just wait for death quietly.

“Of course it’s true! This Mr. Dongfang next to me is the one who previously provided us with Combat Suits. And this time, he has brought medicine to treat the virus for everyone.” Yan Fangfang introduced him.

“Clap clap clap ~”

The Soldiers applauded enthusiastically, welcoming Oriental Chen’s arrival.

Yan Fangfang pressed her hands down, signaling everyone to stop.

“Now, Mr. Dongfang will say a few words to everyone.” Yan Fangfang said.

Yan Fangfang stepped aside, yielding the main position to Oriental Chen.

Oriental Chen was not shy and walked to the center.

“Hello everyone. I came to see you today to put your minds at ease. The fearless spirit of sacrifice you have shown in the face of this crisis has deeply impressed me. As Instructor Yan said, in you, I see the hope of defeating the virus. I solemnly promise here that within three days, at most, you will gradually receive treatment and recover your health. And after treatment, you will not be infected with the virus again.”

Oriental Chen paused and continued:

“However, before that, I have a small request.”

No one spoke, continuing to listen quietly.

“Due to the time required for potion production, only about 1/3 of the patients can be treated each day. So I hope you can understand that those with severe infections should be treated first, and those with faster onset should be prioritized. At the latest tonight, the first batch of potions will arrive here. I hope our medical personnel can conduct screenings as soon as possible and compile a list and order.”

After visiting the injured Soldiers, the two then went to the square in front of the Military Region’s main gate.

In the square at this time, the Soldiers of the directly affiliated Special Forces Regiment were gathering the spoils of war: crystals.
