304: Chapter 304: One Life, One Problem

Modified humans have strong explosive power, great strength, and swift movements, far surpassing normal humans. However, they are definitely not bulletproof; a single shot will still penetrate their flesh.

"Ah! Woo woo woo ~" The Modified human roared after being shot, gasping heavily.

"I'll ask you one more time, where are the people you captured from Huaguo a few days ago being held?" the officer asked again.

The Translator translated the question again.

The Modified human's eyes were filled with anger as he stared intently at him, but still did not utter a single word.

"Bang ~"

Another shot.

The Modified human's other thigh was hit.

He seemed to be in more pain, his breathing quickened, and more sweat beads appeared on his face and forehead, flowing down his cheeks.

"It seems you're quite stubborn. If you don't speak, the next shot will be to your head. This is your last chance," the officer said.

The Translator quickly translated it again.

This Modified human still showed no intention of speaking.

"Bang ~"

A headshot.

The Modified human died on the spot, blood splattering.

"Drag him away and bring another one over," the officer ordered.

The Soldier dragged the dead Modified human aside and pulled another one over.

This was a female.

However, her extremely exaggerated muscles made all the men present feel inferior.

"I can understand that you are all unfortunate people, unluckily captured and subjected to human experiments. In fact, you don't need to keep secrets for those heinous criminals. You should cooperate with us and cast those devils into the eighteenth level of hell, don't you agree?" The officer squatted down and said to the Modified human.

The Translator continued to translate.

The woman looked at him, not speaking.

"Although I haven't experienced it, I can imagine how much pain you've endured to become like this. They treated you this way, so why are you still so loyal?"

The woman still did not answer.

"How about this, I never hit women. Now, I'll give you the power of life and death over them; you decide their fate. As long as you cooperate, they live. If you don't, they die. As for how to choose, you decide," the officer suggested, pointing to the Modified humans lying on the ground not far away.

The Translator translated the words.

He wasn't sure if these people were truly mute or if they had normal cognitive abilities. He also couldn't be sure if this method of sowing discord would be effective.

He was just gambling now; if the method didn't work after one try, then he would have no choice but to kill them all.

"Drag another person over," the officer ordered.

So the Soldier dragged another person over.

The officer pulled back the gun bolt and pointed it at this person's forehead.

"One life for one question. If you answer, he lives. If you don't, he dies. Do you understand?" the officer said.

The Translator translated simultaneously.

"Tell me, where are the Huaguo people who were captured earlier being held?" the officer asked.

The woman still did not answer.

"Three," the officer began to count down.

"Two."

"One."

"Bang ~" After the officer finished counting down, he fired directly.

The first person had to be killed; not killing would not be enough to eliminate any potential Luck mentality (sense of Luck mentality) in her mind.

"Drag him away and bring another one over," the officer ordered.

The Soldier dragged another person over.

"Still the same question, tell me, where are the captured Huaguo people being held?"

"Three."

"Two."

"In Bato," the woman spoke.

And this woman could even speak the Huaguo language.

The officer heard the woman speak and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

It would be too much of a loss if they couldn't get information from them after finally catching a group of people.

"Are you from Huaguo?" the officer asked.

"...Yes," the woman replied after a moment of silence.

"Since you are from Huaguo, why are you helping Ulan Country fight against your own country's army?" the officer asked.

The woman sneered:

"Don't the Huaguo army never kill prisoners? What are you doing now?"

"You're right, the Huaguo army doesn't kill prisoners. But the precondition is that you must have the awareness of being a prisoner. Tens of thousands of Huaguo citizens are still in Ulan Country, their lives unknown. To rescue those suffering compatriots, using some extraordinary means is not excessive," the officer said.

"Hahaha. That statement coming from your mouths is truly ironic!" The woman's eyes were filled with hatred.

"What do you mean by that?" the officer asked.

"If you consider these people still Huaguo compatriots, why didn't you come to rescue the Settlement when it was besieged by zombies?" the woman scolded.

"This..." The officer was speechless for a moment.

"Nothing to say, right? Although I hate them for turning me into something neither human nor ghost, they did say one thing that was very true. The lives of us ordinary people are like wild grass. Whether we live or die, no one cares; we can only rely on ourselves," the woman said.

"We've strayed too far. Let's get back to my questions," the officer said, not continuing the topic.

There were some things he didn't understand himself, but as a Soldier, he could only obey.

"Ask away," the woman replied indifferently.
