140: Chapter 140: Taking Rong Po on a Tour

"If you want to see it, you can. Do you want to see it in person? I can take you there," Oriental Chen said with a smile.

"This... isn't good!" Rong Po looked around, indicating he still had work to do.

"Oh, well, never mind then," Oriental Chen didn't force him.

"Go! Go! Go!" Rong Po quickly changed his mind.

"You can go, but let's agree beforehand, whatever you see, keep it to yourself. You can't tell anyone else!" Oriental Chen whispered.

Normally, when you tell someone a secret, it's no longer a secret.

"Don't worry! My lips are sealed!" Rong Po patted his chest.

"I'll believe you when pigs fly! Just use your mouth to advertise for me then," Oriental Chen thought, looking at him with a smile.

"Captain, where are you going? Take me with you," a female Instructor stepped forward and asked.

"And me!" Another one came.

"Get lost! Don't you know it's training time? What are you doing crowding around? Do you have any professional ethics?" Rong Po scolded.

The Instructors walked away dejectedly.

"Then, Mr. Dongfang, when shall we depart?" Rong Po immediately reverted to a smiling face.

"Let's go now," Oriental Chen said.

He turned and led Rong Po away.

The two entered the elevator, Oriental Chen pressed the number, and the elevator began to move horizontally.

"Mr. Dongfang, does this elevator go directly to Funing District?"

"That's right."

After about 30 minutes, the elevator stopped.

The two walked out of the elevator.

This was an independent space, with a door on each of the four walls. Other than that, it was empty.

The space was roughly 10 meters square and about 5 meters high.

Oriental Chen walked to the door opposite him, and the door opened automatically.

He stepped out, and Rong Po quickly followed him out.

This was an office, not very large.

There was a desk, a bookshelf, and a sofa set with a coffee table.

Stepping out of the office, the scene before Rong Po's eyes dazzled his titanium alloy eyes.

In the vast hall, countless robots moved back and forth like shuttles, working orderly at their respective tasks.

The scene was like the waiting hall during the annual Spring Festival travel rush in the past.

On both sides of the hall, there was an entrance every so often, and he didn't know what was inside.

"Our current location is already underground in Funing District," Oriental Chen said.

"What are they doing now?" Rong Po asked.

"They are constructing production warehouses," Oriental Chen replied.

"Production warehouses? Are all your weapons and equipment produced in such production warehouses?" Rong Po asked.

"More or less. But these production warehouses are not used to produce weapons and equipment," Oriental Chen said.

"Then what are they...?"

"These are all material production warehouses. Including crops and daily necessities," Oriental Chen answered.

"You mean, you can already grow crops underground?" Rong Po was surprised.

Before he joined the army, he also came from a rural background. Although he hadn't done much farm work, he had seen pigs run even if he hadn't eaten pork. He knew that farmers relied on the heavens to grow crops. Although current technology is advanced and farmers' harvests are guaranteed, growing crops entirely underground also has a very high technical threshold.

Leaving aside other things, just lighting and pollination would probably be impossible underground.

He couldn't think any deeper than that.

"With your current defensive capabilities, wouldn't growing them above ground be less of a problem?" Rong Po asked.

He only considered the possible zombie attacks and mutated animals, and was not aware of the ecological crisis. So he thought, wouldn't it be easier to grow them above ground?

"There are some things you're not very clear about yet, but I can reveal a little to you. Before long, the surface will no longer be suitable for crop growth, and our food must be produced entirely underground."

Rong Po nodded.

"Currently, the underground base in Funing District can support the survival of 100,000 people. I plan to make this a model for the future development of the national Settlement. Everyone can build in this way," Oriental Chen said.

"You mean, all Settlements will have to build such bases?" Rong Po asked.

"Of course! Did you forget what I just said? In the future, the surface will no longer be suitable for crop growth," Oriental Chen said with a smile.

Rong Po only vaguely understood a little, scratched his head, and gave an awkward smile.

Oriental Chen didn't explain it too deeply. The ecological crisis was not yet suitable for Rong Po to know.

"Where do you want to visit? I can take you there," Oriental Chen asked.

"Why do you want to show me around here?" Rong Po was puzzled.

Rong Po found it a bit unusual for him to voluntarily reveal his secrets.

"Didn't you want to see it? I might as well let you see enough," Oriental Chen said with a smile.

"But this isn't your style," Rong Po replied.

"Then what do you think my style is?"

"You are very mysterious, and every matter seems to be planned. Besides that, you wouldn't do anything more or less," Rong Po said.

"It seems your Instructor Yan has taught you a lesson?" Oriental Chen squinted and smiled.

"She said a little, the rest I figured out myself," Rong Po said with a smile.

"Since you asked, I might as well answer you a little. These things are not for you to see, but for your Commander to see," Oriental Chen said.
