69: Chapter 69: Killing and Heartbreaking
"I have no objection," Mei Wenhua replied softly, his head bowed, instantly appearing much older.
"Good! Take him away!" Group Leader Pang ordered the Enforcerss standing on either side.
The Settlement's temporary Command HQ was an emergency response team composed of multiple departments, including public security, administration, judiciary, health, and civil affairs.
The purpose of this arrangement was to streamline processes and enhance mobility.
In conjunction with the "National Emergency Management Plan for Special Periods" temporary regulations newly issued by the Council after the virus outbreak, each Settlement was granted extremely high enforcement power, provided they adhered to relevant rules.
For extremely harmful situations, especially those jeopardizing national security, leaking state secrets, threatening others' lives, or disturbing social order, the temporary Command HQ had the authority to strip individuals of their right to judicial proceedings and directly execute them by firing squad without trial or conviction, provided there was conclusive evidence.
As Mei Wenhua was being led out of the office, he came face to face with Oriental Chen, who was standing behind him.
Oriental Chen spoke:
"Mei Wenhua, let me tell you one more thing before you die: I haven't actually caught those three Enforcerss yet," Oriental Chen said with a smile.
He was truly vicious, not only killing but also crushing the spirit.
"What? You brat, you dared to trick me!"
Mei Wenhua's arms were twisted behind his back by two Enforcerss, his hands cuffed.
Although he was furious, he couldn't struggle.
"What trickery? I'm just giving you a free lesson.
Next life, remember not to trust anyone lightly," Oriental Chen said with a laugh.
"Good! Good! Good! I never thought I, Mei Wenhua, wise my whole life, would capsize in a gutter.
Hahahaha!" Mei Wenhua shouted as he was led out.
Soon after, a gunshot rang out, and Mei Wenhua died.
"Young man, your name is Niu Xingwang, isn't it?
You're not old, but you're quite capable.
Mei Wenhua wasn't an ordinary person, yet he fell into your hands.
However, young people should still learn to walk the right path," Group Leader Pang advised, speaking from the perspective of an elder.
"Thank you for your concern, Group Leader Pang.
It's quite late now, so if there's nothing else, I'll head back," Oriental Chen said.
"Alright!" Group Leader Pang nodded, watching him respond, seemingly deep in thought.
Stepping out of the Command HQ, Shen Wengang and Luoer were already waiting in a nearby corner.
"Brother Dongfang, you're amazing!
You completely fooled Mei Wenhua!" Luoer exclaimed, going to meet Oriental Chen as he emerged.
Shen Wengang had already told Luoer about the scene that had just unfolded, and Luoer's eyes had widened in surprise.
Oriental Chen, impersonating Niu Xingwang, had actually tricked Mei Wenhua to his death.
Presumably, Mei Wenhua never knew who truly tricked him, even until his last breath.
"Boss, I still don't understand.
How did you know the Red Coat Sect was connected to Mei Wenhua?" Shen Wengang asked.
"I didn't know!" Oriental Chen replied.
"Ah? Then what you just did...?" Shen Wengang was very surprised.
"I just bluffed him.
If he admitted it, he was involved; if he didn't, he wasn't.
It's that simple," Oriental Chen said as he walked.
"Amazing!" Shen Wengang exclaimed.
As a straightforward man, he really couldn't have thought of such a devious—no, such a clever—tactic.
The three had only walked a few steps when they were stopped by a Young woman.
"What are you doing?" Shen Wengang quickly stepped in front of her.
This Young woman was Rong Qingyi, the Young woman who had been by Mei Wenhua's side.
The Young woman had clearly been crying.
Seeing Shen Wengang block her path, she stopped advancing and instead stood there, bowing deeply.
Shen Wengang was bewildered by this scene and looked back at Oriental Chen.
Oriental Chen nodded, signaling him to stand aside.
"Madam, what is this...?" Oriental Chen stepped forward, asking curiously.
He had seen Rong Qingyi before; she was Mei Wenhua's secretary.
When he had first arrived at Mei Wenhua's place, he had even ordered her to make tea.
"You all don't know, but Mei Wenhua was actually my enemy," Rong Qingyi said.
"Oh? What happened?" Oriental Chen asked.
"I have a younger sister named Gu Qingyue..." At this, Rong Qingyi began to recount a past event to them.
It turned out Rong Qingyi's real name was Gu Qingyi, and she had a younger sister named Gu Qingyue.
Mei Xiangnan, Mei Wenhua's son, met her sister, who had just graduated from university, by chance and began to relentlessly pursue her.
During a dinner, Mei Xiangnan drugged Gu Qingyue's drink and raped her while she was unconscious, even filming it.
Upon waking, Gu Qingyue suffered a mental breakdown and attempted suicide several times, but was stopped by her family.
Her parents, furious, confronted Mei Xiangnan, but to no avail.
Both parents fell ill and never recovered.
A few months later, Gu Qingyue received a message from Mei Xiangnan, containing the video he had recorded earlier.
He demanded to meet her, threatening to post the video online if she refused.
Gu Qingyue could no longer endure the torment, so she jumped from a building, ending her life at the tender age of 23.
Soon after, her parents also passed away in grief.
Suddenly, a perfectly good family was left with only her.
After arranging her family's funerals, Gu Qingyi changed her name to Rong Qingyi and applied for a job at Mei Wenhua's company.
