149: Chapter 149: The Holy Envoy is Captured
“Why is there no one?” The Saint Messenger secretly controlling the zombies was also stunned.
“Not good! Something’s going to happen!” The Saint Messenger felt a strong sense of unease.
The sudden turn of events caught everyone off guard.
“Left Brother, why do you think there’s no one in the military camp?” Mayor Gong couldn’t understand.
He had clearly seen a large number of Soldiers leaving the city during the day.
“I’m not sure either.” Left Wen Shan frowned and shook his head.
“Do you think these zombies will attack our Settlement out of anger?” Mayor Gong swallowed hard, asking nervously.
“They shouldn’t,” Left Wen Shan replied.
“I hope not!” Mayor Gong could only hope the zombies wouldn't get angry now.
Yusu Province, Kunfeng City, Southeast Military Region Command.
Large hordes of zombies surrounded and attacked the Commander-in-Chiefs office.
They met no resistance along the way.
“No one?”
The zombies entered the Military Region and found no resistance. The Saint Messenger controlling the zombies here was also stunned.
They had no way to communicate remotely. So, after the operation began, they were unaware of the situation on other battlefields.
“We might have fallen into a trap. Retreat!” the Saint Messenger commanded.
Just then, an unexpected change occurred.
The zombie horde began to stir, their roars rising and falling.
“What’s going on?” The Saint Messenger was bewildered.
He didn't care about anything else and sent the retreat order to the 3rd-tier Zombie.
Unfortunately, at this point, the 3rd-tier Zombie did not obey him.
Because at this moment, the nanobots released by the Micro Queen Bees had already completely disintegrated it.
Without the 3rd-tier Zombie leading them, the remaining zombies were like headless flies, crashing into everything.
The situation was completely out of control.
The Saint Messenger hiding in the dark was completely dumbfounded and felt a deep fear for this military camp. He understood that losing control of the zombies meant that the battle here was meaningless. So he decisively got up and fled the scene.
Yusu Province, Mozhou City, Suiyang Anbu.
It was late at night.
The two Saint Messengers who had gone to Meilin and the Military Region Commander-in-Chiefs office arrived here in a panic.
“Is the battle over? That shouldn’t be!” The Saint Messenger waiting for news here felt something was wrong.
Excluding travel time, they shouldn't have been fighting for very long.
“What’s going on?” The Saint Messenger waiting for news asked, looking at the two panicking individuals.
“Something unexpected happened on my side. There’s not a single person in the military camp outside Meilin City,” said the Saint Messenger who went to Meilin.
“What? No one there?” The Saint Messenger who went to the Military Region was even more confused when he heard this.
“What’s the situation on your side?” the waiting Saint Messenger asked.
“I didn’t see a single person in the Military Region either! But I don’t know what happened; the zombies were attacked inexplicably, and the 3rd-tier Zombie I controlled was instantly killed.”
“Instantly killed?” The two Saint Messengers were startled.
“Yes! It was less than a minute between entering the military camp and when I couldn't sense the 3rd-tier Zombie anymore.”
“Did you see what kind of weapon it was?” the waiting Saint Messenger asked.
“Didn’t see anything at all. The zombies just disappeared inexplicably,” the Saint Messenger replied.
Too many incredible things had happened tonight; the three Saint Messengers were already confused.
“No. There must be a problem here!” The Saint Messenger waiting for news mumbled while thinking.
“What exactly went wrong?”
“Where did those Soldiers go?”
“Not good!”
“Soldiers!”
The other two Saint Messengers were also startled.
“Surround this place for me, don’t let a single fly out!”
Just then, someone outside shouted, and at the same time, dense footsteps could be heard.
“We’re surrounded!” The Saint Messenger who went to Meilin said with wide eyes.
“How did they know where we were?” The Saint Messenger waiting for news looked confused.
But they no longer had time to think.
The gate was rammed open, and many fully armed Soldiers rushed in, surrounding the three of them.
“Bang bang bang~”
The three tried to struggle, but before they could unleash their ultimate moves, the Soldiers had already opened fire together.
They were not killed; they were still useful.
Only their legs were broken.
…
The next morning, Southeast Military Region Command.
When Zongzheng Yue arrived at the Military Region, besides seeing the lingering putrid liquid left by the zombies on the fences, walls, and ground, and some damaged traces, he saw nothing else.
There wasn't a single zombie corpse.
If it weren't for these lingering pieces of evidence, he might have thought the zombies hadn't come at all.
By this point, he finally believed that what the mysterious person said was true.
The Red Coat Sect’s target was him.
They created such a huge chaos with the sole purpose of distracting his attention and forces.
“Where are the people being held?” Zongzheng Yue asked.
“Reporting, Commander, in the detention room,” the Soldier replied.
“Hmm, take me to see them.”
“Yes!”
Detention room.
“Are you the Saint Messengers of the Red Coat Sect?” It was Zongzheng Yue’s first time seeing someone from the Red Coat Sect.
“Hmph!” A Saint Messenger snorted disdainfully.
“Quite stubborn.” Zongzheng Yue didn't care at all.
“Notify all Settlements that the mastermind behind the zombie siege has been captured, and ask them to send people to observe,” Zongzheng Yue instructed the messenger next to him.
