519: Chapter 519 Quiet Rest

“May I ask, sir, how you wish to be addressed? I can relay the message for you.”

“Jingqi,” the strange man replied.

“Alright, Jing as in quiet?” the staff member asked while writing it down.

“Correct.”

“Which Qi? Qi as in anticipation?”

“Qi as in perching.”

“Alright, please wait a moment.” The staff member put down his pen and picked up the phone to make a call.

“Hello? Captain. There’s a Mr. Jingqi at the North 3 entrance, he’s here to see the City Lord.”

“Alright, the information has been sent, please take a look.”

“Okay.”

The staff member hung up the phone, looked at the strange man, and said:

“Mr. Jingqi, please rest there for a moment, the information has been reported.”

“Hmm.” He grunted softly but showed no intention of going to the waiting area.

The staff member didn't dare to provoke him rashly and could only indulge him.

Fortunately, besides them, no one else was entering the city at the moment.

Ten minutes later, the phone in front of the staff member rang.

“Hello, Captain. Oh, like that, okay! Okay! I understand. Mm. Mm.”

He hung up the phone after speaking.

“Gentlemen, the City Lord has sent someone to pick you up, please follow me.” The staff member stepped out of the reception window and made a welcoming gesture.

The strange men followed him inside.

In the underground base, the main mode of transportation was public rail cars.

Other than that, there were only hover commuter vehicles, exclusive to the Chamber of Commerce.

At this moment, three extended commuter vehicles were already waiting inside the security gate.

Standing on either side of the first and third vehicles were three fully armed Soldiers. They wore the latest armor developed by Oriental Chen and carried Laser Guns. They looked both mighty and cool.

The door of the second vehicle was open, and it was empty.

It was clear that the middle vehicle was prepared for them.

“Gentlemen, please get in. Our staff will take you to see the City Lord.” The staff member became even more respectful.

To have the City Lord arrange such a grand reception, the identity of the other party must not be simple.

The strange men got into the car without a word.

Forty minutes later, the three vehicles arrived at the administrative office area on the second basement level.

“Gentlemen, this way, please.” After getting out of the car, the staff member led them into a room.

“Ling Luo greets Martial Uncle. Martial Uncle, why have you come?” Ling Luo bowed slightly and said.

Jingqi looked at him but said nothing.

“Martial Uncle, what are you doing?” Ling Luo accompanied him with an awkward smile.

“You still have the nerve to call me Martial Uncle?” Jingqi said irritably.

“Martial Uncle, look at what you’re saying. You will always be my Martial Uncle.” Ling Luo deliberately played dumb.

“This base is not bad, quite suitable for retirement.” Jingqi suddenly changed the subject.

He was expressing his dissatisfaction with Ling Luo abandoning his duties.

“Martial Uncle, you can’t blame me. The Elders in the Elder Hall wanted to kill me indiscriminately. If I didn’t escape, it would have been a dead end.” Ling Luo said with a frown.

“Whether you were wronged or not is irrelevant for now. You know the rules, those who betray the Holy Sect shall be executed without mercy.” Jingqi said.

He stood with his hands behind his back, seemingly having no intention of attacking.

“Martial Uncle, you didn’t come to kill me today, did you?” Ling Luo asked pitifully.

“What if I did, what if I didn’t?” Jingqi asked.

“If you did, please be quick, Martial Uncle, I’m afraid of pain.” Ling Luo didn’t seem scared.

“Hahaha!” Jingqi let out a strange, hoarse laugh.

“Ling Luo, after all these years out here, you haven’t changed a bit, kid.”

“Martial Uncle, you’re wrong. I have changed.” Ling Luo shook his head.

“Hmm?”

“Boom~” Jingqi suddenly glared at him, and his aura burst forth. He didn’t like to be contradicted.

“Bang~” Ling Luo was instantly flung back by this aura, directly hitting the wall behind him.

“Pfft~” A mouthful of fresh blood was spit out.

“Ah!” Ling Luo clutched his chest, almost unable to catch his breath.

“I ask you, was your Master killed by you?” Jingqi asked.

“Martial Uncle, if I say it wasn’t me, do you believe me?” Ling Luo still acted pitiful.

“Whether it is or isn’t, I need proof.” Jingqi said.

“Martial Uncle, I only met Master once, where would I find proof?” Ling Luo feigned distress.

“A string of lies! Your Master clearly came with you to Golden City, you can fool others but not me!” Jingqi said with a cold gaze.

“That’s right. He did come, but he left the same day!” Ling Luo replied.

“Where did he go?” Jingqi asked.

“He said he was worried about Ling Yue and returned to the Elder Hall.” Ling Luo answered.

“Do you have proof?” Jingqi asked.

“Ling Yue blew up my lab, where am I supposed to find proof?” Ling Luo pushed the blame away.

“Is that so? Why would Ling Yue blow up your lab?”

“At that time, he brought countless robots, and after I was injured, I ran to Ling Wu for refuge. Ling Wu told me that those robots were all made in Huaguo. That’s when I knew Ling Yue had defected to Huaguo.” Ling Luo explained.
