278: Chapter 278 The Contract is Gone

“Director, it’s me!” The man’s face was swollen, and he spoke indistinctly.

“Who are you?” Liu Feiying squinted for a long time but couldn’t recognize him.

The female attendant walked up to Liu Feiying and whispered something; he nodded, finally understanding.

“Get up, you bastard!” Liu Feiying was annoyed when he saw the man sitting on the ground, bruised and swollen.

This was simply an embarrassment.

And not just an embarrassment, but an embarrassment brought out into the open.

The man hurriedly stood up when he heard Liu Feiying scolding him.

“I’m asking you, why did you run to Binjiang for no reason?” Liu Feiying reprimanded.

“I…” The man was speechless.

It was one thing for Zongzheng Yue to come and deal with him indiscriminately, as they weren’t from the same department. But for his own superior to come and scold him just as indiscriminately, that was hard for him to accept.

“Why? Why is everyone targeting me?” The man couldn’t understand, thinking with a stifled feeling.

“I’m asking you a question, what ‘I’?” Liu Feiying’s temper flared even more when he saw the man stammering.

“Director, @#$%^^%$#…” The man’s words were garbled, and he mumbled something unintelligible.

“Straighten your tongue, you!” Liu Feiying snapped.

“Director, these people… bullied us. I came… to ask for shares, and they… beat me up!” The man tried his best to speak clearly.

“What shares are you asking for?” Liu Feiying asked.

“Shares of the Huatong Chamber of Commerce,” the man replied.

“You asked the Huatong Chamber of Commerce for shares??” Liu Feiying’s eyes widened.

“Yes!” The man nodded.

“Is your face made of gold? You say you want shares and you get shares? Why don’t you go to the Council Building and ask to be a Speaker?” Liu Feiying was exasperated; how could he have brought out such a useless person?

“No, Director, this was agreed upon beforehand, we have a contract.” The man argued.

“Where’s the contract? Let me see it!” Liu Feiying still didn’t believe it.

Baili Ji couldn’t even touch the Huatong Chamber of Commerce, and you, a mere boy, think you can?

“Get the contract!” The man said to the female attendant beside him.

The woman nodded, took out a document bag from her purse, and handed it over.

Liu Feiying opened the document bag, looked inside, and then closed it.

“Are you messing with me? Where’s the contract?” Liu Feiying looked at the man and asked.

“It’s right in there!” The man was a bit confused.

“See for yourself!” Liu Feiying didn’t waste any more words and tossed the document bag back.

“How can it be empty?” The man took the document bag and looked inside; it was indeed empty.

He looked at the woman beside him, and she also took the document bag and looked, confirming it was empty.

“Where’s the contract?” the man asked.

“This…” The woman didn’t know either.

She had clearly kept this document bag with her all along, so how could it be gone?

The man gave the woman a fierce look, as if scolding her for not being able to handle even a small matter.

Since Oriental Chen dared to let Niu Xingwang sign the contract, he must have been prepared. Attaching some nanorobots to the contract would have been effortless.

The woman lowered her head, not daring to speak.

“Now, immediately, right now, get back to the Capital!” Liu Feiying didn’t waste any more words and snapped.

He knew in his heart that this matter wasn’t that simple. This guy had definitely been set up, otherwise, he wouldn't be so foolish as to come here looking for trouble.

But now that the crucial evidence was gone, it was impossible to explain, and they could only swallow this bitter pill.

“Director…” The man was a bit unwilling; the cooked duck was really about to fly away.

“Still not leaving?” Liu Feiying’s voice grew several decibels louder.

“Yes!” The man had no choice but to lead his people away dejectedly.

“Old Liu, it’s not that I’m criticizing you, but your leadership skills are quite average!” Zongzheng Yue teased.

“Do I need you to teach me how to lead people?” Liu Feiying retorted grumpily.

“Oh! Look at you, why are you getting so angry?” Zongzheng Yue continued to tease.

“I say, Zong, aren’t you being a bit excessive? No matter what, he’s a member of my Military Political Department. You just laid hands on him; that’s unacceptable, isn’t it?” Liu Feiying said.

“Don’t twist the facts here. Don’t you know what kind of person your subordinate is? Arrogant, overbearing, and spouting wild words! I’m telling you, that was only because of your face, otherwise, I would have beaten him to death!” Zongzheng Yue glared back.

“You know the exact situation yourself; I’m too lazy to waste words with you. A minor dispute, and you bring out two Chinese council members; the Huatong Chamber of Commerce really has a lot of influence!” Liu Feiying said indifferently.

“Now it’s three,” Zongzheng Yue corrected.

Adding Liu Feiying, wasn’t it three?

Liu Feiying stopped wasting words and nodded at him.

He wasn’t a brainless child; he knew that talking big was useless. The timing wasn’t right today. To save face, he would have to find another opportunity.

“Since the matter is over, I’ll leave first. These past few days, I’ve been calculating the material supplies for your four Military Regions, and it also involves the ammunition issues for your Yangtze River patrols. My head is splitting!” Liu Feiying shook his head.

He was trying to remind Zongzheng Yue not to act like a hero for no reason, as he still held the lifeline of their Military Region in his hands.
