105: Chapter 105: The Red Cult's Internal Support

“Haven’t you considered that this would lead to the entire Red Coat Sect being blockaded and encircled by the whole Chinese army?” Oriental Chen asked.

“I was also worried before that going against the army carried too much risk. But the Holy Son said it wouldn’t happen.”

“Why?” Oriental Chen didn’t understand.

“I’m not very clear either,” the Holy Emissary replied.

This was actually related to the “2055 Ark Plan” passed by the Council.

To build the Mosang Ark Base, 90% of the Central Military Region’s forces had already been transferred to the Mosang Gobi no-man’s-land in western Xinjiang. At the same time, the Southwest Military Region, Northwest Military Region, and Northeast Military Region each dispatched two divisions, totaling 60,000 people.

As a result, each Military Region had very insufficient forces for maintaining public order.

Furthermore, Soldier casualties were very high, and the way injured Soldiers were handled was too inhumane. Therefore, each Military Region basically adopted a strategy of stopping conflict to preserve their forces as much as possible, choosing not to fight if they could avoid it.

And the Commander of each Military Region was a Council member. They knew that after the “2055 Human Survival White Paper” was issued, the various Settlements were nominally abandoned and had to find their own way to survive, so they were even less willing to let their Soldiers take risks.

“Then even if you control the entire Southwest Military Region, what good will it do? What’s the plan after this?” Oriental Chen asked.

“I think it’s very likely they want to make this the Red Coat Sect’s main headquarters,” the Holy Emissary replied.

“You’re guessing?” Oriental Chen asked.

“Yes! The Holy Son hasn’t explicitly said so, but it can be inferred from his words that he has this intention,” the Holy Emissary replied.

“How many Holy Sons do you have in your sect?” Oriental Chen suspected that such a large plan couldn’t be accomplished by just a few people.

“I don’t know that. I haven’t seen any other Holy Sons, nor have I ever heard the Holy Son mention them,” the Holy Emissary answered.

“What did you mean when you first said Enforcerss couldn’t be promoted to Holy Emissary? How did you get this position?” Seeing that he couldn’t get any more information, Oriental Chen changed the subject.

“To become a Holy Emissary, one must undergo the sect’s baptism ritual. But Enforcerss and Divine Envoys cannot receive the baptism,” the Holy Emissary explained.

“Why?” Oriental Chen asked.

“Because they have actually been infected. Receiving baptism requires drinking holy water. The Holy Son said that if they drink holy water, the virus will become uncontrollable, and they will eventually turn into zombies,” the Holy Emissary explained.

“So, only healthy people can drink that holy water you mentioned?” Oriental Chen asked.

“That’s right.”

“Besides making you immune to zombie attacks, what other effects does holy water have?” Oriental Chen asked after a moment of thought.

“As far as I know, it doesn’t seem to have any other effects.”

Oriental Chen was a little curious about this holy water; he had to get his hands on some if he had the chance.

“Can it make you immune to the virus, or turn you into a Mutant?” Oriental Chen asked.

“No, it cannot,” the Holy Emissary affirmed.

“Then what was that method you mentioned earlier that could prevent viral infection?” Yan Fangfang interjected.

He had said something like that when he first broke into the Commander-in-Chiefs office, but Oriental Chen hadn’t heard it.

“It’s the medicine we take. After taking it, you won’t be infected by the virus, and you’ll gain certain abilities,” the Holy Emissary replied.

“Do you have any on you?” Oriental Chen asked.

“Yes!” the Holy Emissary replied.

Oriental Chen felt a medicine bottle in his pocket, opened it, and saw there was still a good amount left.

He planned to analyze it when he got back to see what its components were.

“Where did you get this medicine?” Oriental Chen put away the bottle and continued to ask.

“It was bestowed by the Holy Son,” the Holy Emissary replied.

“Then how did your Holy Son obtain it?”

“I don’t know that.”

“Last question, how were you able to directly locate the Commander-in-Chiefs office?” Oriental Chen asked.

“Because… because there was an inside person,” the Holy Emissary replied.

“Impossible!” Yan Fangfang directly interrupted.

“People from the military cannot be colluding with you!” Yan Fangfang absolutely refused to believe this.

The army was different from other places; every person who joined the army had been thoroughly vetted. Furthermore, after the virus outbreak, the entire military was under lockdown, and Soldiers were not allowed to go home to visit relatives. Under these circumstances, it was impossible for the Red Coat Sect’s influence to infiltrate the Military Region.

“It’s indeed not someone from the army,” the Holy Emissary admitted.

“Then who was it?” Yan Fangfang was curious.

“Do you know that two months ago, you caught a group of bandits?” the Holy Emissary asked.

“Could it be them?” Yan Fangfang certainly knew, because she had personally led the arrest.

“No!” the Holy Emissary shook his head.

“Are you messing with me?” Yan Fangfang was furious.

“It was the person who reported it,” the Holy Emissary provided the answer.

“The woman with the child?” Yan Fangfang was astonished.

“Yes,” the Holy Emissary nodded.

“You guys, quickly go and control that woman in the barracks, don’t let her escape!” Yan Fangfang reacted and quickly ordered.

“Yes!” The Soldiers guarding the door took the order and left.

“What’s going on?” Oriental Chen asked.
