119: Chapter 119: First, trick Suo into assimilation

“Xiao Chen, do you have a solution?” Yan Zhengping thought for a long time but couldn't come up with a way to deal with these Zombie Rats. If people were sent to catch them, they wouldn't get any sleep for 24 hours a day, and they might not even be able to catch them all.

“Of course, I have a solution! It’s just that the cost is a bit high,” Oriental Chen replied.

“Oh? What solution?” Yan Zhengping breathed a sigh of relief when he heard Oriental Chen had a solution.

“I have three strategies: the best, the middle, and the worst. Which one would Commander Yan like to hear?” Oriental Chen asked.

“Just say it!” Yan Zhengping feigned a reprimand.

“Alright! I just developed an Ultrasonic Emitter. As long as it’s deployed according to requirements, it can completely drive away animal zombies,” Oriental Chen said.

“That’s great, get me a few units first!” Yan Zhengping was overjoyed.

“Why do you need so many? One unit is enough,” Oriental Chen said.

“There are several other Military Sub-districts!” Yan Zhengping explained.

“Understood. However, the price is a bit steep!” Oriental Chen reminded him.

Although his goal was to quickly deploy them for free, he knew that things had to be done step by step. If he offered it for free right away, the other party might suspect he had ulterior motives.

“How expensive?” Yan Zhengping asked. But he knew that no matter how expensive, he would have to buy it. Having unseen zombies constantly watching you in the army was not a pleasant feeling.

“1,000 crystalss each,” Oriental Chen stated a price that was neither too high nor too low.

“You scared me! I thought you were going to ask for an exorbitant price.” Yan Zhengping scoffed, thinking to himself that this young man really didn't know how to do business. Such a life-saving item should start at no less than 10,000 crystalss! 1,000 crystal cores—he was even embarrassed to say it.

“Commander Yan, I’m giving you a great gift; saying that really hurts my feelings!” Oriental Chen started again.

Yan Zhengping reacted.

That’s right! 1,000 crystalss were nothing to him. But other Military Regions needed them; wouldn't it be unreasonable for him to sell them for 10,000 crystalss? Wasn't that like picking up money? And other Military Regions would still owe him a favor!

“I understand. When I go back this time, I’ll properly reward you, Xiao Chen!” Yan Zhengping said with a smile.

“Commander Yan, I haven’t finished speaking,” Oriental Chen said.

“Oh? Go on!”

“Your Military Region has the financial resources, but the Settlement doesn’t! If these rats get into the Settlement, oh dear! I don’t even dare to imagine!” Oriental Chen pretended to be very worried.

“Then what’s your suggestion?” Yan Zhengping frowned.

This was indeed a problem. Although the Settlements were nominally fending for themselves, in the face of such a devastating disaster, and with the country having good solutions, they couldn't just stand by and watch everyone die.

“I have no suggestions. I am just a businessman, and a businessman seeks profit. The biggest concession I can make is to provide you with this Ultrasonic Emitter at a low price. As for who pays for it and how they pay, that’s not my concern,” Oriental Chen said, making his point.

“Okay, I understand. This matter needs to be discussed. But our Military Region will take them first. Please prepare the goods quickly; I’ll have someone pick them up shortly,” Yan Zhengping said before hanging up the phone.

He was in Suo Tonghua’s office and found it inconvenient to elaborate.

“Old Yan, what exactly happened? You seem startled,” Suo Tonghua had been listening for a long time but couldn’t make sense of it.

“Lao Suo, something happened!” Yan Zhengping also mimicked Oriental Chen’s tone, frowning, with the posture of facing a formidable enemy.

“What happened?” Suo Tonghua quickly leaned closer, ready to be a spectator.

“We found Zombie Rats on our side,” Yan Zhengping said.

“Zombie Rats?” Suo Tonghua was puzzled.

“That’s right. Rats are social animals, you know. Think about it, if one appears, is a whole group far behind?” Yan Zhengping said, looking at him.

“Indeed!” Suo Tonghua also understood.

Once one appeared, it would only be a matter of days before all the rats would likely turn into zombies. Coupled with the rats’ stealth, the destructive power of these things was unimaginable.

“Sigh, have you found any on your side?” Yan Zhengping asked, feigning concern.

“Not yet!” Suo Tonghua replied verbally, but his heart was already in turmoil.

Whether there were any or not, who could say for sure?

“That’s good! But Lao Suo, you absolutely cannot let your guard down! If someone gets bitten, I’m afraid it won’t be long before the entire military camp is in chaos!” Yan Zhengping continued to offer advice, pretending to be concerned.

Suo Tonghua had already realized the seriousness of the problem and was constantly pondering how to deal with it.

The atmosphere fell silent for a moment.

“Lao Suo, ah, Lao Suo. Let’s start with you first!” Yan Zhengping was secretly overjoyed, looking at him as if he saw the God of Wealth.

“Old Yan, from what you just said, you already have a solution?” Suo Tonghua had thought for a long time but couldn’t come up with a good method. A tiny rat could potentially wipe out a well-trained army; this was no joke.

“Hmm, that’s right. I plan to order a batch of Ultrasonic Emitters. The ultrasonic waves released by this equipment can drive away animal zombies. Not just rats, but other animal zombies too,” Yan Zhengping explained.

“There’s such a good thing!” Suo Tonghua’s eyes lit up, and he made up his mind to get a few from Yan Zhengping, no matter what.
