8: Chapter 8 Mysterious Dongfang Chen
“Xiao Lin, has the company registration application been approved?” Oriental Chen asked after returning home.
“It has been approved,” Xiao Lin replied.
“Hmm, have you chosen a location?” Oriental Chen continued to ask.
“Three locations have been initially screened, and their location information has been sent to your panel for your review.”
“Oh, alright!”
Oriental Chen clicked on the unread message and read it in detail.
“Binjiang Park?” Oriental Chen was a bit puzzled when he saw that one of the locations was a park.
“Yes, Commander. The rock strata at Binjiang Park’s location are hard, and the underground structure is stable, making it suitable for construction.”
“But have you considered that Binjiang Park does not permit private buildings?” Oriental Chen reminded her.
“That’s not an issue. Binjiang Park originally planned to build a museum as a landmark, but it was later shelved due to funding problems, but the land is still available. We can obtain construction rights through donation.” Clearly, Xiao Lin was absolutely first-class at processing information.
“But the construction blueprints for a museum and a base are different, won’t the approval be an issue?”
“Commander, we only need to obtain entry qualifications. Once the virus breaks out, no one will be supervising anymore,” Xiao Lin explained.
This was essentially taking advantage of a time lag.
“Alright then, let’s choose this location,” Oriental Chen said.
“Understood. The application has been submitted.” Xiao Lin’s actions were incredibly swift.
“Commander, the conditions for overseas investment are met. Would you like to initiate the Supercomputing Center construction plan?” Xiao Lin asked.
“You handle the Supercomputing Center. Unless absolutely necessary, you don’t need to ask for my opinion again,” Oriental Chen replied.
“Understood, Commander! Before the project starts, you need to determine the deployment location for the Supercomputing Center,” Xiao Lin asked.
“What locations are available?” Oriental Chen asked.
“Available locations include Antarctica, the Atlantic Ocean, or the Pacific Ocean,” Xiao Lin answered.
“Where do you think is suitable?” Oriental Chen didn’t understand, and professional matters still required professional people.
“Antarctica offers the highest level of security. If the virus infects the ocean, highly aggressive fish zombies might appear, posing a certain threat to the Supercomputing Center,” Xiao Lin suggested.
“Alright, then Antarctica it is!” Oriental Chen didn’t care; since it would be remotely controlled, anywhere would work.
“Understood, Commander.”
Current human internet technology, compared to the Space Station’s artificial intelligence, was completely on a different dimension. Anything that could be solved through the network was no problem for Xiao Lin.
Within just a few hours, joint construction fleets from over a dozen countries, including Xin Country, A Country, and Australia, successively sailed towards the South Pole.
If a Supercomputing Center were to be built in Antarctica, several key issues needed to be resolved.
Firstly: The snow cover on the surface increased construction difficulty.
Secondly: The constraints of the Antarctic Treaty and the harsh natural conditions in Antarctica made several power generation methods, such as nuclear, wind, and solar, unusable. Furthermore, surface buildings were also potential attack targets, leading to lower security. Geothermal power, which absorbs heat from the Earth’s crust and converts it into electricity, offered excellent concealment. Therefore, the most feasible technical solution was geothermal energy.
Thirdly: The geothermal energy construction plan provided by the Space Station’s virtual client to the construction parties actually surpassed current technological levels. However, due to time constraints, Xiao Lin did not apply for relevant patents, which would lead to this technology being quickly mastered by various countries. Of course, this was also a major motivation for various countries to actively participate in the construction. For them, the binding force of the Antarctic Treaty was not an issue compared to gaining substantial technological improvements.
The Supercomputing Center project was not directly invested in by Oriental Chen’s company but took a detour, commissioning enterprises from multiple countries to jointly establish a joint survey and construction team. This also meant that although the construction team set off with great fanfare, outsiders did not know who was actually behind the operation.
Following this, under Xiao Lin’s series of mysterious operations, the “Binjiang Park Museum” project quickly passed approval.
The contractor was the city’s largest real estate developer: Dingxin Real Estate.
…
“Oriental Chen? Why is it him again?” Niu Xingwang was again puzzled after learning that the investor in the museum project was Oriental Chen’s company.
“This young man is a bit mysterious!”
He had just spent 320 million to buy a large flat in Dingxin Wealth Center, and now he was donating 5 billion to Binjiang City for the Binjiang Park Museum project.
This was no longer something ordinary people could afford.
Even Niu Xingwang himself, with such a large industry and many businesses involved, would find it a significant strain to come up with 5 billion in cash all at once.
Yet, this young man was spending money on such a seemingly useless project.
“I don’t understand, I really don’t understand!” Niu Xingwang shook his head.
Just then, his phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, he couldn’t help but frown.
It was an old business partner of his, who had moved his entire family to Xin Country for investment immigration years ago, and they hadn’t been in touch for a long time.
After a moment of hesitation, he answered the call.
“Hello, Boss Niu, long time no talk, how have you been?” A somewhat unrefined Mandarin floated from the other end of the line.
“Everything’s good, thank you for your concern, Boss Yuan. Is there something you need today, Boss Yuan?” Niu Xingwang asked directly.
“Just a small matter, actually. I wanted to ask if Boss Niu has heard of someone named Oriental Chen,” Boss Yuan asked.
“Oriental Chen?” Niu Xingwang was startled.
“Yes, it seems Boss Niu knows him?” Boss Yuan said.
“How did you hear about him?” Niu Xingwang didn’t answer; this was completely out of left field.
“To be honest, my company just finalized a project with an investment of 80 billion. And we only took on a small part of the project. The investor also approached companies from Australia and Canada to jointly undertake this project. The total investment reaches 200 billion. I also paid a huge price to learn from a high-ranking official that this investor is from Binjiang City and is named Oriental Chen,” Boss Yuan explained.
“What?” Niu Xingwang was completely stunned.
He had just been wondering what kind of background a young man who could casually pull out 5 billion had. And now, this young man had turned around and launched a 200 billion project overseas!
“Oh my goodness! This is absolutely a great god of wealth!” Niu Xingwang exclaimed.
“Hello, Boss Niu, are you listening?” Boss Yuan was still asking on the phone.
“Oh, Boss Yuan, there is indeed such a person in Binjiang, and I just took over a 5 billion project from him,” Niu Xingwang replied.
“Is that so! Thank you! Let’s have tea sometime,” Boss Yuan said politely.
They hadn’t contacted each other in years and had no business dealings, so what tea was there to drink?
However, Niu Xingwang didn’t mind; this information was very important to him.
After a few polite words, he hung up the phone and rushed out the door in a hurry.
