203: Chapter 203 How to Raise Mice

The five minutes were entirely the Bearded Man's personal show.

The Modified human was already tied up, struggling in vain.

"Clap, clap, clap~" Ling Luo, who was observing from outside, applauded.

"Master, in front of you, my Modified human has no ability to fight back at all," Ling Luo said.

"That's because I have a realm advantage. If we were both at Tier 1, I might not necessarily be a match for this Modified human," the Bearded Man said.

"Master is definitely the most powerful," Ling Luo said, flattering him.

"You! All you do is flatter!" the Bearded Man said, pointing at Ling Luo and laughing. However, it was clear he was quite pleased.

"Master, I'll take you to your quarters to rest," Ling Luo changed the subject.

...

Yan Zhengping felt much more at ease after receiving Oriental Chen's reply.

A one-week construction period was something he could grit his teeth and endure.

So, he refocused his energy on raising rats.

It takes about 3 months for rats to go from conception to birth, and young rats can reproduce when they reach adulthood at around 3 months. Each litter can produce 4-8 offspring. The lifespan of a rat is generally only one year.

Oriental Chen provided Yan Zhengping with a simple and crude method of raising them, including a schematic diagram for building a breeding cage.

The breeding cage is divided into upper and lower layers, separated by a railing with gaps of about 2.5 centimeters. The railing is very thin and coated with lubricant.

The upper layer has an independent area at the edge, covered with a layer of hay, which serves as the nursing area. In the middle is a large plate, which serves as the feeding area. The nursing area and the feeding area are connected entirely by the railing. For a rat to go from the nursing area to the feeding area, it must climb over the railing.

The Soldiers responsible for feeding will always place food in the feeding area. Larger rats will successfully pass through the railing to reach the feeding area and eat. However, the young rats, due to their small size and less agile movements, will fall through the gaps in the middle of the railing to the lower breeding cage when attempting to pass through. This roughly separates the rats into juvenile and adult rats.

There are several climbing poles between the upper and lower layers. After the young rats in the lower layer grow to a certain extent, they will be able to return to the upper layer via the climbing poles.

Thus, without human intervention, by controlling the food distribution, the natural separation of young rats and adult rats can be achieved.

The purpose of this is to ensure that the rats can continuously reproduce offspring.

Due to the strong reproductive capacity of rats, the number of rats in the same breeding cage will increase by at least 4 times every so often. To ensure a stable number of rats, it is now time for harvesting.

The upper breeding cage has an independently operable door.

Every month, the door will open once, releasing a portion of adult rats into the isolation cage.

Inside the isolation cage are several Zombie Rats.

Under the attack of the Zombie Rats, these rats will soon all be infected.

After 15 days, these infected Zombie Rats will have generally synthesized crystalss.

These isolation cages will then be transported to the designated slaughter area.

The subsequent work does not require Yan Zhengping's involvement. In ten minutes, all the rats in these isolation cages will turn into crystalss. However, 1/10 of these crystalss will be deducted by the Bee Queen as a fee for decomposing the rats.

Under this entire system, Yan Zhengping's side has only a few tasks to do:

1. Mass-produce such breeding cages;

2. Use the rats bred in the early stages as breeding stock for reproducing more rats;

3. Have Soldiers specifically responsible for feeding;

4. Regularly arrange for Soldiers to transport the isolation cages to the isolation area.

To prevent the escape of Zombie Rats, a slaughterhouse was set up in each Military Sub-district where rats were raised. This ensures that throughout the entire process from breeding to slaughter, the rats do not leave the breeding area.

Setting up a slaughterhouse was merely a formality, the purpose of which was to prevent people from questioning how the rats disappeared. The requirements for the slaughterhouse were also very low; all that was needed was a completely enclosed factory building. The Soldiers transporting the isolation cages only needed to drive the vehicle into the slaughterhouse, then exit and close the large door. The Bee Queen could handle the rest alone.

Yan Zhengping would periodically send people to the Huatong Chamber of Commerce to transport food waste remaining from food production back to the Southwest Military Region.

Thus, the entire closed loop of raising rats to obtain crystalss was completely established.

As long as the number of breeding cages is sufficient, the number of crystalss that can be obtained is still very considerable.

To make the rats more excited and reproduce offspring at full throttle, Yan Zhengping also specifically had people add an appropriate amount of aphrodisiac to the adult rats' food. This could be considered resorting to any means to obtain crystalss.

Therefore, the six Military Regions, after merging, successfully transformed into six large breeding bases under Yan Zhengping's mandatory requirements.

At first, the Soldiers didn't understand, but then they saw the continuous stream of crystalss being pulled out of the breeding areas, and everyone knew what was going on. From then on, the despondency on the Soldiers' faces disappeared, replaced by enthusiasm and high morale.

"How is raising rats neglecting proper duties? It's clearly the most important task right now!"

"The more rats there are, the more crystalss there are, and the more crystalss there are, the more equipment there is."

"No, I can't rest, I need to go back to welding cages!"

These were the true thoughts of the Soldiers.
