94: Chapter 94 It’s Too Cheap
"What are you shouting for?! Look at yourself, you don't look like a Commander at all, you're a complete hooligan!" Yan Zhengping quickly came out to stop him, dragging him into the office.
If he kept shouting, he would lose all face.
"Old Yan, I really didn't expect you to be so underhanded!" Zongzheng Yue complained.
"What are you talking about? How am I underhanded?" Yan Zhengping was displeased and plopped down on the sofa.
"I'm asking you, do you have a potion that can turn people into Mutants?" Zongzheng Yue asked.
"How did you know?" Yan Zhengping frowned.
Only he, Yan Fangfang, and Rong Po knew about this matter; logically, no one else should know.
"Don't worry about how I know, just tell me if you have it or not?" Zongzheng Yue continued to ask.
"Lao Zong, aren't you not very interested in Mutants? Besides, Combat Suits are so good; soldiers wearing them aren't afraid of the zombie virus at all, so why bother with potions?" Yan Zhengping said.
He wasn't very keen on the potion himself; the Combat Suit was more practical.
Even if the soldiers took the antigen, they would still have to wear Combat Suits, so it was simpler to just wear Combat Suits directly.
"So, that means you do have it?" Zongzheng Yue persisted.
"Yes, I do, but that stuff isn't as cost-effective as Combat Suits," Yan Zhengping consoled him.
"You get what you pay for, don't you understand that basic principle?" Zongzheng Yue grew anxious.
"Wait a minute, Lao Zong! Your attitude changed too quickly, didn't it?" Yan Zhengping was suspicious.
"Let me tell you, Mutants are too powerful, our soldiers simply can't contend with them," Zongzheng Yue said mysteriously.
"You encountered Mutants?" Yan Zhengping asked.
"Do you know that the Speaker formed a Dark Night Squad?" Zongzheng Yue asked.
"Yes, I do!" Yan Zhengping replied.
"The Dark Night Squad members are currently at my Military Region," Zongzheng Yue said.
"And then?" Yan Zhengping had no idea what he was getting at.
"We conducted a combat exercise, 19 people against 200 soldiers," Zongzheng Yue said disjointedly.
"Just say it all at once, it's so hard to listen to you!" Yan Zhengping became impatient.
"19 against 200, an average of 10 against 1 with plenty to spare, what was the result? My men didn't even touch a hair on the other side before they were completely wiped out!" Zongzheng Yue lamented.
"Didn't the soldiers wear Combat Suits?" Yan Zhengping didn't understand.
"They did! What would I be talking about if they hadn't?" Zongzheng Yue gave him a sideways glance.
"They wore Combat Suits, and 200 couldn't defeat 19? Lao Zong, it's not that I'm criticizing you, but your troops in the Southeast Military Region really need to train harder!" Yan Zhengping scoffed.
"Hmph! No wonder you don't take the potion seriously.
I'm telling you, I'm taking that potion; you may not value it, but I do," Zongzheng Yue couldn't be bothered to argue with him anymore.
"Lao Zong, it's not that I don't value it, but that stuff is really expensive.
It's truly not as cost-effective to inject everyone as it is to have everyone wear Combat Suits," Yan Zhengping advised kindly.
"Why inject everyone?" Lao Zong didn't understand.
"Exactly! If they don't get injected, the soldiers won't have resistance, won't they just be going to their deaths if they go out?" Yan Zhengping didn't understand what he meant by asking that.
"Wait a minute! Are we talking about the same thing?" Zongzheng Yue was a bit confused.
"Yes! Weren't you talking about the antigen?" Yan Zhengping asked.
"antigen? I was talking about the potion that can turn ordinary people into Mutants!" Zongzheng Yue seemed to have discovered the key point.
"Exactly! That potion is the antigen!" Yan Zhengping still hadn't reacted.
"What? Are you saying you have a vaccine here?" Zongzheng Yue stood up, staring at him.
"Yes! Haven't we been talking about this all along?" Yan Zhengping felt baffled by Zongzheng Yue's reaction.
"Holy cow! Holy mother of all cows! Why didn't you report it if you have a vaccine? If there's a vaccine, wouldn't this crisis end quickly?" Zongzheng Yue was practically swearing.
"What are you so anxious about, listen to me finish!" Yan Zhengping pulled him back down to sit.
"This vaccine isn't cheap.
If it were announced, what kind of situation do you think we'd have?" Yan Zhengping asked.
"If it were announced, it would probably be priceless but unavailable," Zongzheng Yue considered carefully.
"Then what do you think would happen to the people who couldn't buy it?" Yan Zhengping continued to ask.
"They'd probably cause trouble! Sigh! Old Yan, I thought this matter was simpler than it is," Zongzheng Yue apologized.
"Furthermore, you also attended the council meeting.
Have you forgotten that the truly terrifying thing is the virus? If it were just a virus problem, why would we still need to build an underground base?" Yan Zhengping reminded him.
"You're right.
It seems the vaccine isn't a panacea either," Zongzheng Yue replied calmly.
"Back to your initial question.
Both the antigen and Combat Suits can resist the virus, but think about it, given the same crystals, would you choose to buy two Combat Suits, or one antigen? You might not know, but the price of one antigen is exactly double that of a Combat Suit!" Yan Zhengping's words were a bit misleading here.
In reality, the price Zongzheng Yue paid for Combat Suits was almost equivalent to the price of one antigen.
"That's not expensive, is it?" Zongzheng Yue calculated the price and said.
"Not expensive?" Yan Zhengping was left speechless by the retort.
"It's only 320 crystalss, isn't it? It's too cheap, okay?" Zongzheng Yue said.
"Too...cheap?" Yan Zhengping felt like he and Zongzheng Yue were not on the same page.
