527: Chapter 527 What is here?
“Holy One, did you hear that? It sounded like gunshots just now,” the attendant whispered.
“Quiet!” Jingqi said with a frown.
The vibrations were now very faint, but there were always faint “rustling” sounds around them.
“Holy One, why do I feel like there are many snakes crawling towards us?” another attendant whispered.
Jingqi did not reply.
They certainly weren't afraid of snakes.
They were just worried it might be some strange, mutated creature.
Mutated creatures were too common now.
On the warship.
Oriental Chen was observing the screen.
The situation looked very strange now.
The black dots came from the Northwest and converged towards the Southeast, forming a fan shape.
It felt like they were deliberately heading to a certain location.
“What’s here?” Oriental Chen said, pointing to their potential convergence point.
“Understood, Commander.”
The drone's altitude continuously decreased, and the image magnified further.
The drone had now descended to an altitude of five or six meters from the ground.
Everything on the ground was clearly visible.
However, this target area was still very large, and it was not easy to find anything unusual.
It was like trying to find something special within a few square kilometers when looking from above, without knowing what this thing was or what its characteristics were; it was still very difficult to find.
It was like playing a “spot the difference” game without a reference image, which was quite straining on the eyes.
“Dai Zheng, you come and look too. See what exactly is in this area, and what these things are doing here?” Oriental Chen said, rubbing his eyes.
“Alright!” Dai Zheng also leaned over, staring intently at the screen.
Half an hour later…
Dai Zheng’s eyes were already blurry, and tears streamed down his face.
He couldn't deny getting old; after all, he was over forty, and this kind of work was really tiring.
“Hahaha, Brother Dai, aren’t you being a bit too dramatic!” Oriental Chen laughed.
Dai Zheng wiped his tears while awkwardly smiling:
“I’m old! My eyesight isn’t what it used to be!”
“Alright, split the screen and let everyone look.” Oriental Chen shook his head with a smile.
Soon, each Special Operations Team member on the warship was assigned a section of the area, each patiently observing every movement on the ground on their respective screens.
Oriental Chen had considered using nanobots for exploration.
However, they didn't have a significant advantage in exploring surface conditions, especially for moving objects.
Moreover, he wasn't sure if there was any anomaly in this area, or what kind of anomaly.
So, he could only use a clumsy method.
“Holy One, more drones are coming!”
“Buzz buzz buzz~”
The drones had propellers, so the noise was very loud.
“Hide well! Don’t move!” Jingqi reminded the others.
They didn't know what the vibrations and “rustling” sounds were yet, but the drones must have been sent by those large warships.
Jingqi judged that their target should not be their four individuals.
As long as they weren't exposed, there would be no problem.
The Sand People were still about 2 kilometers away from their hidden position, which was the area Oriental Chen was focusing on monitoring.
The drones hovered above them, showing no signs of leaving.
They held their breath, not daring to even pant.
The warship was very quiet.
All Special Operations Team members stared silently at the screens, not even blinking.
Oriental Chen stood up from his seat, rubbed his eyes, walked into a room, took out his phone, and made a call.
“Hello, Old Qin.”
“Xiao Chen, are you still in Bayinbuluke?” Old Qin asked.
“Yes, still here.”
“Is there something you need to talk about?”
“It’s like this, I wanted to ask if you’ve ever seen the Sand People?” Oriental Chen asked.
Although Old Qin had told him to come here to look for clues, he hadn't told him that he had been here himself; Dai Zheng was the one who mentioned it.
But Oriental Chen wasn't being coy now; he directly asked his question.
Since he had been here, he might have seen them.
“Sand People? You encountered them?” Old Qin asked.
“Yes. So you've seen them?” Oriental Chen laughed.
“That shouldn’t be! Where are you now?” Old Qin asked.
“I am currently in the Aksu region, in the narrow passage between Lop Nur and the Taklamakan Desert. I’ll send you my location,” Oriental Chen said.
“Alright! Don’t act rashly yet, I’m leaving now,” Old Qin said before hanging up the phone.
Oriental Chen smiled slightly.
He knew he had guessed correctly; Old Qin had his own purpose in tricking him into coming here to investigate.
In the command room, the Special Operations Team members were still staring intently at the screens.
As the Sand People became more concentrated, the area they needed to observe became smaller and smaller.
Now, each person was only responsible for a 500-meter-sided square area.
Even so, they still hadn't found anything.
“Damn it! What exactly is here? What is the goal of these Sand People?” Dai Zheng rubbed his eyes hard, practically cursing.
