109: A mysterious visitor
As soon as my mother heard Second Aunt was hungry, she knew the situation was great, so she quickly pulled Pan Han’s father to prepare food.
Second Aunts Husband helped Second Aunt into the room to wipe herself, change clothes, and rest for a while.
Pan Han went to the balcony alone, lit a cigarette, and entered a state of contemplation.
“Although I took the potion, I still need to go for a follow-up check-up after a while.” Thinking of this, Pan Han sent messages to Yan Xiaoli and Wang Doudou on WeChat.
Now the three of them have a group chat named: Dawn Base Film and Television Company.
“@Wang Doudou, I’m back from my errand. I’ll return to the capital tomorrow and return the car.”
“Holy cow! I thought you had disappeared!” Wang Doudou quickly replied.
“You’ll get used to it; he often disappears for a few days for no reason,” Yan Xiaoli said, answering for Pan Han.
“How is your Second Aunt?”
“Not sure. We’ll recheck after a while.”
“What’s going on?” Yan Xiaoli was a bit confused; she wasn’t aware of the situation yet.
“I found a folk remedy for Second Aunt. We’ll see the effect after a while,” Pan Han didn’t say directly.
“This is possible?”
“Sister Xiaoli, there are many capable people in this world. You’ll get used to it,” Wang Doudou also replied for Pan Han.
“Oh, right, how are things with the film and television company? I’ve been so busy I haven’t had a chance to ask.”
“Reporting, President Pan, I’ve already found a few screenwriters, and we plan to start with micro-dramas. We’ve just started, so let’s take it slow.”
“The film and television qualifications will be approved soon. Then we can set up the company.”
“Alright, are there any interesting scripts?”
The three of them started chatting about what genre to film for their first project.
...
In the apocalypse, in a forest 80 kilometers from Dawn Base.
“Big Brother, what if the mission fails?” A Niu’s vigilant subordinate asked him nervously.
Z Tower’s rules are very strict; failing a mission results in a significant deduction of contribution points. Falling below a certain value leads to salary forfeiture, and even lower means direct expulsion.
A Niu had no mind to answer him, his mind filled with Cheng Xiao’s image.
He would never forget that face for the rest of his life.
Back then, after Cheng Xiao escaped, he was implicated and punished. It took him a long time to regain his squad leader position.
This matter cannot be known by the people of Z Tower, otherwise it will be even more difficult to handle. A Niu secretly pondered.
“I didn’t expect it! Rumor has it that Dawn Base is developing rapidly, and now it’s actually this powerful! It seems our intelligence was wrong,” another subordinate chimed in.
“Damn it, where do we find 20 women now? It’ll be troublesome if we can’t find them.”
“I don’t have many points left. If I lose more, I might go hungry.”
“Stop talking nonsense. Following Niu Ge, how could you go hungry? Hurry up and think of a solution.”
Seeing A Niu deep in thought, the subordinates had no choice but to discuss among themselves.
A Niu was still staring blankly in the direction of Dawn Base, his thoughts drifting back to that year.
At that time, his mind was full of intermediate potions. After all, only by getting his hands on this and completing his evolution could he establish himself in the organization for the long term. The stronger his ability, the better he could survive. Moreover, in the apocalypse, it wasn't a big deal for women to be taken for the leaders' enjoyment.
He had calculated everything, but missed two points: first, Cheng Xiao was so unyielding, and second, Third Leader was so useless, taking gifts but not doing anything!
“Damn it!” The more A Niu thought about it, the angrier he got, and he couldn’t help but curse.
“Niu Ge, please say something,” the vigilant subordinate couldn’t hold back and urged A Niu.
“Let’s go back and tell the truth. We few certainly won’t gain any advantage from this base. However, the organization must know, otherwise the threat will grow larger and larger,” A Niu said surprisingly.
Upon hearing this, the subordinates realized that their Big Brother was truly sincere. He considered the base in every aspect.
“Big Brother, the punishment won’t be light,” another subordinate reminded him.
“Don’t worry. I have enough points; I’ll take the deductions for you all,” A Niu had not been promoted for years, remaining in the squad leader position. He was still kind to his current subordinates. He knew that if he couldn’t protect these few, it would be even harder to get by in the future.
“Yes, let’s go back and have the organization send a large team over. We’ll flatten Dawn Base.”
“We can’t let them develop any further, or they’ll swallow us sooner or later.”
“Niu Ge is righteous; we brothers didn’t follow the wrong person.”
“That’s right, this news is much more important than 20 women.”
Everyone felt a little relieved when they heard that A Niu was prepared to shoulder the burden alone.
“No time to lose, let’s hurry back,” A Niu didn’t waste any more words and led his team straight back to their base.
Although he was a scumbag, he was also a ruthless person.
...
Meanwhile, Dawn Base was even livelier.
Last night’s raid did not affect the construction progress. Instead, people sped up even more, and the base construction was in full swing.
Everyone knew that a more brutal battle would come soon.
All the Rabbits, except for those needing to recuperate, were working in two shifts, spread out around the base perimeter for reconnaissance.
Mountaintop Stronghold also intensified its defenses and prepared for battle, ready to support Dawn Base at any time.
“Big Brother, we need to buy some 20mm autocannons,” the third said to Qin Zhong.
“I even want to buy a tank,” Qin Zhong said, hitting the tea table fiercely.
“Z City should have them. But we’d have to buy them from the Colonel. The trading market can’t make decisions about such heavy weaponry.”
“The problem is, the Colonel might not sell. We’ve bought a lot of firearms recently, and I heard they’ve started investigating us,” Qin Zhong showed concern. He was afraid that Z Tower and the Colonel would act simultaneously.
“I heard the Colonel loves to drink. Why don’t we send him some gifts? Who doesn’t sell firearms? If we give him what he wants most, who would attack a god of wealth?”
“Then you’re essentially selling Lord Pan.”
“I’m sorry, Qin Laoda, I was being presumptuous,” the third stuck out his tongue.
“Laoda, there’s a stranger at the gate who says he wants to see the base owner,” just then, the guard, the sixth, reported via walkie-talkie.
“?????” Qin Zhong and the third were utterly bewildered.
“Wait for me, I’ll be right there,” Qin Zhong put everything down and rushed to the base gate.
Climbing the watchtower, Qin Zhong looked down.
A large truck was parked in front of the gate, and a man stood in front of the truck, wearing a long gown with a hood covering his head.
“Are you the base owner?” The man shouted to Qin Zhong.
“Our owner isn’t here, what can we do for you?” Qin Zhong replied loudly.
“I’m here to save you!” The man’s words were startling.
Upon hearing this, Qin Zhong exchanged a glance with the sixth: “I’ll go down and see.”
“Be careful, Laoda. I’ll keep an eye on him from above,” the sixth said, opening the gate.
Qin Zhong was anxious and didn’t take the stairs but leaped down.
“Oh, good moves, a primary evolutionist?” The man asked with a smile, seeing his agile movements.
“Who exactly are you? What do you want with our owner?” Qin Zhong ignored the question and pressed the man for his purpose.
“Didn’t I say? I’m here to save you.”
“Oh? Why do you say that?”
“Z Tower is eyeing this place; you’re going to be in trouble,” the man said patiently, his tone calm.
“How do you know?”
“Please, can the dialogue have some depth? If I didn’t know, why would I be here?” The man continued to play guessing games with Qin Zhong.
“Then who are you?”
“Who I am isn’t important; what’s important is where I come from.”
“Oh? Then where are you from?”
“One of the Twelve Palaces, Aries Palace!”
“Holy crap!”
