432: Chief Eli's ultimate goal

Rest time is always short, and it was soon time to depart.

Ellie hugged everyone goodbye, saw them to the door of the villa, and watched as they ascended into the sky.

"If only I had a set of mecha, I could fight side by side with everyone."

No sooner had she finished the sentence than the three mechas accelerated and vanished, leaving only three bright spots behind.

"The apocalypse has such powerful technology; it's a pity. If only some of it could be moved to Blue Star, the Knight Order would definitely be able to advance to the next level." Ellie waved at the bright spots and returned to the house, feeling dejected.

A few minutes later, Pan Han and the other two arrived several tens of thousands of meters above the second main city.

The three of them checked the time; it was already the agreed-upon time for the attack with Old Six.

"Let's contact Brother Six first."

Cheng Xiao signaled everyone to wait, then opened her communicator and called: "Brother Six, how are you all doing right now?"

"Oh, Seventh Sister, you've arrived? Everything is going smoothly on my end; I'll be there soon." Old Six replied immediately.

"Good, then we'll start the attack first, and you can block an escape route afterward. Same old rules."

"Rest assured! The brothers are already impatient." One could tell that Old Six was very excited.

It seemed that the previous city slaughter hadn't satisfied him enough.

"Let's move." Pan Han finished listening to the conversation and nodded at the two women.

Immediately, three streaks of lightning descended from the sky.

The second main city of Shanlan Province instantly fell into a sea of flames.

Compared to the first one, this main city had a much larger population; the mecha's estimate was around 200,000.

But Pan Han and his team didn't care; they just killed, slaughtering wildly.

An Intermediate Evolver can already achieve a 1-to-10,000 kill ratio against civilians, and with the mecha, they could trade without taking any damage.

Five minutes later, the second main city was disarmed.

All important combat equipment was destroyed, and over twenty firepower points were uprooted.

The rest was just hunting down deserters.

...

At the Twelve Palaces high-level meeting, seven bald men numbered 0 to 6 sat around in worry.

"Number 0, are you sure you're not going to do anything about this? Shanlan Province is about to be wiped out by Pan Han!" Number 5 Baldy suppressed his anger but asked in an extremely stern tone.

"Number 5, how can I intervene? Ellie said not to interfere, and even to satisfy his requests. You were there, weren't you? What the hell are you pretending to have amnesia for?" Number 0 Baldy took a puff of a Pan Han cigarette and said with a helpless expression.

"Damn it! It's not your territory, so you don't care." Seeing him say this, Number 5 Baldy almost stood up and pointed at his nose to curse.

However, he was forcibly pulled back and pressed into his seat by the others.

"Number 5, Shanlan Province is your hometown; who doesn't know that? You secretly left two nuclear bombs there, and we didn't say anything. Now that they can't beat Pan Han, what else can you do?"

"I fucking regret not being more ruthless back then and leaving them some potions; now there isn't a single Intermediate Evolver left. Otherwise, they wouldn't be so passive." Number 5 Baldy slapped the table in frustration and turned his head away.

"If Pan Han hadn't appeared, they wouldn't need an Intermediate Evolver at all. After all, you are sitting here in charge." Number 0 Baldy's expression was quite playful.

"Stop talking nonsense. If you all won't intervene, that's fine, but don't stop me when I do." Seeing that no one intended to take action, Number 5 Baldy had no choice but to step up himself.

"Number 5, are you saying you want to break the rules? Have you forgotten that major resolutions require a unanimous vote?" Number 0 Baldy's eyes suddenly flashed with light, and he said viciously.

"Number 5, you'd better not defy Ellie's orders. Otherwise, no one will be able to protect you when the time comes." Number 1 Baldy also chimed in.

"I naturally won't disobey the Chief's orders, but I cannot sit idly by while Pan Han keeps killing like this."

"Then what do you intend to do?"

"If you all don't agree to intervene, then I can only intervene as an individual. You can't control that, right?" Number 5 Baldy looked at the other six, his expression extremely cold and serious.

"Number 5, in our positions, how can there be such a thing as an individual capacity? Haven't you woken up yet?" Number 0 Baldy asked.

"Fine, fine, fine. Consider it me owing each of you a favor. In the future, for your next proposals, I'll vote in favor for all of them, okay?" Number 5 Baldy seemed determined.

"Oh, Number 5, you said it yourself! That's equivalent to you giving up your veto power for a long time to come."

Hearing this condition, Number 0 Baldy's eyes lit up.

Major resolutions require a unanimous vote, and everyone has veto power.

This is the rule of the Twelve Palaces high-level meeting.

Since Number 5 Baldy could offer this condition, it showed he had made the greatest concession.

0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6—these six bald men looked at each other and finally nodded in unison.

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing; I won't let Ellie blame you all." After Number 5 Baldy finished speaking, he got up and left.

"Is what he calls knowing what he's doing the same thing as what we understand by it?"

After Number 5 left, Number 2 Baldy asked.

"It doesn't matter anymore. If he angers Ellie, we'll just kick him out." Number 0 Baldy said with a relaxed face.

It was as if Number 5's life or death had absolutely nothing to do with him.

"Number 0, if Number 5 goes, it'll be our turn next. This Pan Han definitely won't just be satisfied with unifying Da Hua Country."

Number 1 Baldy said with some worry; he clearly disagreed with Number 0's view.

"So what? This world wasn't ours to begin with. It belongs to the Twelve Palaces, to Ellie. We were just lucky enough to stand in this position. Do you really take yourselves seriously?" After Number 0 finished speaking, he leaned back in his chair and swept his gaze across the other five.

"So, your meaning is that it doesn't matter who goes or who stays?"

"What else could it be?"

"Then when Pan Han attacks your hometown, what do you plan to do?"

"Hahaha, good question. When that day really comes, I'll hand it over with both hands. The world is about to change! If you can't see this point, you've lived in vain." Number 0 Baldy took a deep drag of his cigarette, his eyes unfocused, feeling completely at ease.

"Number 0, when did you start 'lying flat'? Did it start after you replaced your heart?"

"Did I 'lie flat'?"

"If this isn't 'lying flat', what is!"

"I have always gone with the flow and never went against the current. Perhaps you don't understand me well enough yet."

After hearing this, the few bald men fell silent, starting to ponder the meaning of Number 0's words.

A few minutes later, Number 1 slowly opened his eyes and stared coldly at Number 0: "You couldn't possibly know Ellie's ultimate goal, could you?"

"Heh. Number 1! On the contrary, I have now given up on thinking about what the ultimate goal is." Number 0 blew out a smoke ring, his expression relaxed once again.

"Crazy, crazy! Everyone is fucking crazy." Number 1 angrily slammed the table, looking at Number 0 with fury: "If this continues, there will be no need for the Twelve Palaces to exist."

The other bald men had conflicted expressions, as if trapped in a maze, having circled for nine years but unable to find the exit.

"Gentlemen, we have known each other for so many years. Although we have had conflicts, we have ultimately come together. As your big brother, I'll give you a piece of advice: just lie flat and relax."

After speaking, Number 0 pressed a button, the conference room door opened, and several secretaries entered and stood behind everyone.

"Today's meeting ends here. Long live the Twelve Palaces!" Number 0 stood up, spread his arms, and shouted loudly.

"Long live the Twelve Palaces!"

The other bald men also had to stand up and follow along with the slogan.
