272: Exploring the Kingdom of Daughters
After a busy morning, it was almost noon, and Pan Han finally had some free time.
He returned to the shared apartment and then traversed to the apocalypse's detached villa.
As soon as he returned, he received good news.
The oil field that Wu Disheng was previously sent to restore had begun to produce and refine oil, and the first batch of gasoline had just been transported to the base.
Pan Han led everyone to the convoy, a long line of vehicles, each loaded with barrels of gasoline.
Wu Disheng personally escorted them back, and upon seeing Pan Han, he immediately ran forward to report, "Commander, I'm back."
"Old Wu, you did a great job," Pan Han praised Wu Disheng upon seeing him.
Wu Disheng rubbed his hands awkwardly, somewhat reservedly saying, "It's nothing, it's nothing, it's all thanks to the Commander's excellent leadership."
Damn, who said technical people don't understand social graces?
Isn't that well said?
Pan Han chuckled, patted his shoulder, and handed him two packs of cigarettes.
That old fellow, tobacco shouldn't be easy to get over there, so these two packs are his reward.
"Thank you, Commander." Wu Disheng hadn't smoked for a while, so he quickly took the cigarette packs, put them to his nose, and sniffed them, looking completely intoxicated.
"Oh, right, Old Wu, I have one more thing I need you to take a look at."
"Commander, just give the order, no need to be so polite. Whatever you ask me to do, I guarantee I'll get it done."
"Hehe, this matter is a bit special, don't be too quick to make promises," Pan Han said mysteriously to Old Wu, then looked at the bewildered crowd around them.
In everyone's eyes, Pan Han was a very miraculous existence; he had an endless supply of food, could teleport, and was now an Intermediate Evolver.
"Cheng Xiao, take Old Wu to rest first. I'll be there shortly." Pan Han bid farewell to everyone and went to his villa, traversing to his own world.
He went downstairs and rented an ordinary sedan.
He drove to a deserted area, stored the car in his space, and then traversed to the apocalypse.
After releasing the car, he called for Wu Disheng.
"Old Wu, try to see if the oil you refined can be used in this car."
"Yes, Commander." Old Wu found this car to be unremarkable, but he had never seen it before, nor had he seen this brand.
But he quickly focused his energy on studying the car.
First, he drained the gasoline from the car into a container, then disassembled the engine and moved it to the warehouse.
"Commander, I might need some time to analyze it. I'll report back later."
"No problem, Old Wu. Go ahead."
Pan Han was pulled aside by Cheng Xiao, who quietly told him, "Daughter Country has been destroyed."
"Huh?? When did that happen?" Pan Han was greatly surprised to hear this.
Dili Abasi had previously said she wanted to join him, and who would have thought she would be destroyed so soon?
"Just a few days after Asiba returned to the base, several surrounding factions launched a joint sneak attack," Cheng Xiao said with a hint of sadness.
"Who told you this news?"
"This morning, Mo Dage sent it. He knew we would have future cooperation with Daughter Country, so when he heard this news, he told me immediately."
"Damn, this is too sudden. Where is Dili Abasi?"
"I don't know."
"Give me Daughter Country's coordinates. I'm going to check it out." Pan Han was a bit worried about Dili Abasi after hearing this.
Although she was also an Intermediate Evolver, the probability of her dying on the spot was low.
But if she was seriously injured and captured by the enemy, it would be even worse.
"Okay. Be careful." Although Cheng Xiao didn't particularly like Dili Abasi, hearing about such a major misfortune befalling her, there was nothing more to say.
Cheng Xiao was decisive in the face of major events, worthy of the title of Big Sister-in-law.
"Don't worry, I have my mecha. I'll check from the sky first. If there's no problem, I'll go down." Pan Han held Cheng Xiao's hands, his gaze burning, their eyes met, and many words were no longer needed.
"Okay, you go prepare, I'll go find the coordinates." Cheng Xiao headed straight for the command room, where various information and data were stored.
Pan Han returned to the villa, took out his mecha from his space, and performed a final check.
"You go to the command room yourself, ask Cheng Xiao for the coordinates. Then establish a communication link with our base," Pan Han commanded the mecha.
"Yes, Master!" the mecha AI replied, then turned and left.
Pan Han quickly had a quick meal and then went to the bathroom.
Soon, the mecha returned downstairs to wait for him.
Pan Han bid farewell to Cheng Xiao and the others, climbed into the mecha, and soared into the sky.
According to the coordinates, the mecha AI provided the optimal route, a total of 11,300 kilometers, and at full speed, it would only take 1 hour to arrive.
Soon, the mecha ascended to an altitude of 60,000 meters, then proceeded at full speed.
Since it was in fully automatic mode, Pan Han had nothing to do except look at the sky, listen to music, and watch movies.
Movies from before the apocalypse were similar to those in Pan Han's world, mostly action, romance, bizarre, sci-fi, and so on.
Pan Han casually found an action movie to pass the time.
An hour passed quickly, and the mecha began to pass through the clouds, gradually descending to about 1000 meters.
Soon, the image of Daughter Country was transmitted to the helmet display.
Pan Han saw the ground, a mess, buildings blasted askew.
There were also some rotting corpses lying in the corners.
A few zombies wandered around the base.
But there was no trace of humans.
"It seems the battle here was very intense, with traces of heavy artillery bombardment." Pan Han frowned, his expression grim.
Soon, he noticed a depression outside the base with obvious signs of battle.
"Huh, why is there another battlefield here?" Pan Han turned and flew towards it.
Upon landing on the ground, he clearly saw that there were many blast points and traces of fire.
A small hole suddenly appeared before his eyes.
Pan Han had the mecha stand guard while he went forward to investigate.
"It seems someone escaped from here." Pan Han squatted in front of the hole, carefully observing, and came to a conclusion.
"Such a small hole should only be big enough for one person to enter and exit. One person, encountering so much shelling, could it be her?"
"Mecha, come here and scan."
The mecha came to the entrance of the hole, scanned inside, and then reported, "Master, the small hole inside is winding and seems to lead to a larger underground mine shaft."
"Dig it for me."
With a command, the mecha began to dig the hole for Pan Han.
Half an hour later, Pan Han finally arrived at the small opening where Dili Abasi had escaped.
He poked his head out and looked down; it was pitch black, and his vision was obstructed.
He took out a glow stick from his space and threw it down.
Using the faint light, he could see the height and the surrounding situation.
"Let's go down."
This height was not a problem for either Pan Han or the mecha.
As soon as they landed, the mecha activated its lighting.
The first thing Pan Han saw was a patch of burnt ground.
This was left by the gasoline that had been there before.
"It seems these people were very serious about pursuing this person! This person must be extraordinary. It's most likely Dili Abasi."
"Mecha, scan the mine shaft."
"Yes, Master." The mecha released two small flying devices from its back, taking two different routes, left and right, to explore the entire mine shaft.
Pan Han, meanwhile, found a string of footprints on the ground, and by their size, they were definitely a woman's.
"95% it's her!" Pan Han stroked his chin, looking at the seemingly bottomless passage ahead.
"Mecha, follow the footprints." Pan Han went inside again, directly asking it for help.
"Yes, Master. Footprints locked, initiating tracking mode."
The mecha ascended, carrying Pan Han as it pursued along the path.
