509: Go to Dawn City

After Pan Han landed, Cheng Xiao and the other Dawn Base members were all waiting for him at the entrance.

"Why did all of you come?"

However, he didn't get an answer; instead, he was met with everyone's embrace.

Cheng Xiao and Qin Zhong led the way, and everyone surrounded him, holding him tightly.

It was warm, and pure.

Pan Han also stopped speaking, quietly connecting with everyone's hearts.

After a long time, Pan Han slowly said, "Everything is settled! We can move in peace now. After this, we'll live normal lives. There will be no more wars or killings."

This time, no one spoke up to ask. If Pan Han said it was settled, then it was settled.

All that remained was to move safely and securely.

Dawn Squad knew what trust meant.

"Yes, Commander. The location has been chosen. It's a plain in the middle of Da Hua Country. Before the apocalypse, there was a super large city there. Let's go there," Qin Zhong replied.

"Oh? What's it called?"

"Coincidentally, it's called Li Ming City!"

"Good! Very good! We'll go there and start a new life."

"Commander, when are we moving?"

After Qin Zhong asked, everyone looked at him expectantly.

"Are there still zombies in Li Ming City?"

"Definitely."

After hearing the answer, Pan Han thought for a moment and said, "Cheng Xiao, Asiba, you two fly with me."

"Yes, Commander!"

Upon hearing there was a mission, the two women were immediately overjoyed, straightening their backs and saluting.

"Commander, what are you going to do?" Ellie was a bit disappointed, as there was nothing for her to do again.

"I'm going to negotiate with the zombies to clear a space for us."

"Huh??" Ellie was a bit surprised, exclaiming in astonishment.

"Hehe, you don't believe it, do you? Your husband just danced with zombies. Don't worry."

This time, it was everyone else's turn to be unsettled.

What did he mean by dancing with zombies? What kind of operation was this?

"Cheng Xiao, are you familiar with Li Ming City?"

"Very familiar, don't worry."

"In the future, we will use this as the center to build a super large urban cluster and bring all the surviving humans from around the world here."

"Don't worry, Li Ming City is surrounded by large plains. Accommodating hundreds of millions of people won't be a problem."

"Good! Let's go, follow me to negotiate. Old Qin, immediately arrange the moving matters."

"Yes, Commander!"

Subsequently, Cheng Xiao and Asiba put on their mechs and followed Pan Han straight for thousands of miles.

Pan Han, however, did not use a mech, but casually found a cloud and flew on it.

The two women were not surprised; now, whatever Pan Han did seemed reasonable.

During the flight, Pan Han thoroughly surveyed Li Ming City.

Before the apocalypse, this was the provincial capital of a populous All States.

Due to its developed economy and pleasant climate, it attracted a continuous influx of people from all over the All States.

After decades of development, the city's scale had exceeded ten thousand square kilometers.

This was not just an ordinary ten thousand square kilometers, but an area densely covered with buildings.

So many buildings could easily accommodate two hundred million people!

Pan Han's divine sense swept over it and found that tens of millions of zombies were living there, while fewer than ten thousand humans survived.

They lived in a few large buildings, with ground transportation and air communication largely cut off, living their lives separately.

"If we forcefully occupy it, I'm afraid it will be another bloody battle," Pan Han muttered to himself.

The straight-line distance from the base to Li Ming City exceeded 3000 kilometers, which would take about ten minutes at the speed of Cheng Xiao and her companion.

However, Pan Han couldn't wait even those ten minutes.

He sent a message to the two women, saying he would go ahead.

While the two women were stunned, Pan Han had already vanished from the spot, leaving only a bewildered colorful cloud.

It wasn't that Pan Han was in a hurry, but rather that a battle was currently taking place in Li Ming City.

If he didn't rush over immediately, he was afraid that humans would suffer.

Inside an 800-meter-tall building in Li Ming City, zombies had already invaded.

Humans could only rely on their dwindling ammunition to resist layer by layer.

Several burly men, each holding a general-purpose machine gun, fired three-round bursts at the zombie horde.

But the zombies came endlessly, as if growing from underground, constantly stepping over their fallen comrades to attack the humans.

"Damn it, I'm going to die here today."

"Captain, you go first, we'll cover your retreat."

"Go? Go where? There are dozens of elderly people upstairs. If we leave, what will happen to them?"

"Captain, at this point, just look out for yourself."

"Yes, Captain! It's still not too late to leave now!"

The captain didn't answer, but responded with his machine gun.

The other few team members, seeing that the captain was determined to die here, also gritted their teeth and continued to shoot.

Soon, they retreated to the last checkpoint.

This floor corridor was packed with furniture, used to slow down the zombies.

"Brothers, hurry and run. Use parachutes from the rooftop. I'll stay and block the zombies."

The zombies were blocked by the furniture, slowly making their way through. Taking advantage of this gap, the captain said.

"Captain, let's go together. We don't owe those old people anything!"

"Yes, Captain! We've protected them for over half a year, that's enough."

"Captain! Live for yourself for once!"

The few team members completely ignored his orders, each scrambling to speak.

"Brothers! If I abandon these old people, I'll be no different from these zombies."

The captain shook his head, having already made up his mind that he would never abandon the elderly.

"But! They'll die sooner or later, what's the point of living a little longer?"

After hearing this, the captain smiled slightly, put down his machine gun, and drew his dagger.

He plunged it fiercely into the head of a zombie that had just climbed up.

A stream of black brain matter slowly flowed from the skull. The captain flicked off the filth and turned to say, "If we only live to survive, what's the difference between us and these guys who only know how to eat human flesh!"

"Captain! What the hell are you talking about at a time like this! Brothers, carry the captain away, I'll cover the retreat!"

At this moment, a strong, bearded man shouted.

He rushed in front of the captain, separated the zombies, and pushed the captain behind him.

The few people behind him understood immediately. They firmly held the captain down, lifted him up, and headed towards the rooftop.

"What are you doing? Let me go!" Seeing this, the captain struggled and shouted desperately.

The other few people refused to let go, and one of them shouted, "Captain, I'm sorry!"

The bearded strong man turned his head and yelled, "Stop talking nonsense, quickly take the captain away! When it's safe, we'll all apologize to him."

The captain struggled even more after hearing this, but the team members' grip became even tighter.

"Come on, you dog zombies! I've already hidden in the building, and you still won't let us go! Then come on." The bearded man also drew his dagger, killing one by one, stabbing two at a time.

The captain's shouts grew more distant, while the battle in the corridor intensified.

Just as they passed the last floor on the way to the rooftop, inside a large conference room, lived dozens of trembling elderly people.

The youngest of them was 120 years old, and the oldest was already 160 years old.

They used to live in a nursing home, and after the apocalypse came, they kept fleeing.

The original team of several hundred people was now reduced to only dozens.

They heard the conversation between the captain and the team members, looked at each other, and shook their heads.

They weren't doing it for themselves, but for the captain.

In recent months, it had always been the captain who led people to take care of them.

Now it was time to say goodbye. One of the leading elderly people tremblingly walked to the door.

He spoke hoarsely to the captain, "Go, Xiao Wang! Don't worry about us, goodbye."

"No! Old Wang, don't talk nonsense." The captain still wanted to struggle, but in the next second, his mouth was covered, and he could only make muffled sounds.

The old man shed a line of hot tears, waved to the captain, and closed the door with his backhand.

"You've done enough, now it's our turn to do something for you."
