236: Strong reinforcements
Pan Han checked his watch; it was getting late tonight. He estimated it would be around 10:30 PM by the time they returned.
Tomorrow would be a rest day, and the fourth Trial would only begin the day after tomorrow.
"Let's go, Cheng Xiao. There's something important we need to do tomorrow."
"Isn't tomorrow a rest day?" Cheng Xiao felt that ever since the second Trial, Pan Han had been acting a little mysterious.
"Did you forget how we analyzed the fourth Trial before? It's time to gather the team for a meeting." Pan Han tapped Cheng Xiao's small head.
"When did you form a team?"
"Who's your man? Big Brother! I just needed to look, and they came!" Pan Han intentionally kept her in suspense, then pulled Cheng Xiao along.
...
Early the next morning, Pan Han got up and notified Finci Dana, Ouyang Feijin, Jiaogen Jingcun, and Dili Abasi one by one, telling them to come to his room after breakfast for a meeting.
Upon hearing this, everyone was very excited, as it was the Hungry Ghost Squad's first meeting, and it was about cooperating in the fourth Trial.
Ouyang Feijin, in particular, had fainted thirty times yesterday and was still a bit groggy in the morning, but as soon as he heard about the squad meeting, he immediately sobered up.
After giving the notifications, Pan Han returned to have breakfast with Cheng Xiao.
Just as they finished eating, there was a knock at the door.
"Who is it? Didn't I say to come at noon?" Pan Han was a little puzzled.
He opened the door and saw it was Nineteen Mao!
The brawny man who had snatched the weapon blind box from him in the first Trial!
"Nineteen Mao? How did you find me?" Pan Han called out his name immediately.
"I didn't expect Big Brother to still remember me. Hehe!" Nineteen Mao scratched the back of his head and grinned.
"Of course I remember. Is there something you need?"
"I want to discuss something with you."
"Oh? What is it?"
"It's about cooperating in the fourth Trial."
Upon hearing this, Pan Han immediately looked around warily, finding no one nearby.
"Come in and talk." Pan Han waved his hand, stepping aside to let Nineteen Mao enter the room.
"This is my companion, Cheng Xiao. And this is a friend I met in the first Trial, Nineteen Mao." After entering the room, Pan Han briefly introduced the two.
"Wow, your girl is really pretty!" Nineteen Mao extended his hand, waiting for Cheng Xiao to shake it.
Cheng Xiao felt a bit awkward hearing this, but seeing the other party's sincere expression, she didn't mind.
Pan Han was a little speechless; he had never seen anyone so straightforward in coming to discuss cooperation in his life.
"How do you want to cooperate?" Although speechless, he wouldn't just kick him out. Pan Han motioned for everyone to sit down and talk.
He habitually took out a cigarette and had just lit it.
Nineteen Mao exclaimed as if he had discovered a new continent: "How do you have cigarettes? I haven't seen these things in years."
"Want one?" Pan Han thought, I've never met a man in the apocalypse who refused a cigarette!
Sure enough, Nineteen Mao obediently extended both hands, waiting for Pan Han to hand him a cigarette.
After lighting one for him, Nineteen Mao fell into a brief trance!
"This is the taste! It's so fragrant!"
Seeing him like this, Pan Han knew he was another old smoker.
However, he liked old smokers the most.
"Nineteen, why don't you tell me your thoughts first?" Pan Han saw him enveloped in smoke and knew there was an eighty percent chance they could talk.
"Haha, Big Brother, you really are Big Brother! Straightforward!" Nineteen Mao took a deep drag, then extinguished the cigarette, still wanting more, but his expression instantly became serious.
"I want to team up with you and challenge the fourth Trial tomorrow," Nineteen Mao said, rubbing his hands.
"Hehe, why do you want to team up?"
"How can you play the fourth Trial without a team!" Nineteen Mao was a bit surprised; he didn't believe Pan Han couldn't guess the secret of the fourth Trial.
"Oh, so you've seen through it too?"
"If I hadn't seen through it, why would I come to you?"
The two began to speak in riddles, back and forth.
"Why me?"
"You're Big Brother, who else would I look for?"
"You're not telling the truth!" Pan Han suddenly changed the subject.
Hearing Pan Han say this, Nineteen Mao's eyes suddenly lit up: "It seems Big Brother is not only good at fighting but also quick-witted! That's even better."
"Nineteen, you haven't been attracted by my charisma, have you?"
"That's right! In the first Trial, you voluntarily shared weapons. I've never seen anyone like you!" Nineteen Mao admitted generously.
"You haven't finished. Keep going." Pan Han held a cigarette in his mouth, looking at him through the smoke, and casually tossed him another one.
Cheng Xiao was utterly confused. Hadn't these two just met?
Why did they seem like old friends who hadn't seen each other in years!
"Hahaha! Good!" Nineteen Mao lit it up and laughed heartily, exceptionally happy.
He laughed for a full minute before gradually stopping, his gaze firm.
"I've been in so much pain these many years in the apocalypse!" He paused here, looking at Pan Han and Cheng Xiao.
"Actually, you and I are the same kind of people! I've been searching for so many years, and I've finally found you."
"What do you mean by that?"
"I don't like mutual slaughter. But to survive, I had no choice. However, that day in the first Trial, you made my eyes light up. You're different from others!"
With the conversation at this point, Pan Han roughly understood.
"You don't like mutual slaughter, but you like to stand by your friends through thick and thin."
"What a pity! I can't find anyone who would stand by me through thick and thin! Can you?" Nineteen Mao was a little excited; he looked at Pan Han sincerely, afraid he would say no.
"Depends on your ability. The greater the ability, the harder the stab!"
"Hahaha!"
"Hahaha!"
The two burst into laughter, a laughter only men could understand!
Although Cheng Xiao didn't understand, as long as Pan Han was happy, she was happy too.
"Nineteen, how many people do you think are suitable for a team in the fourth Trial?" After laughing, Pan Han brought the topic back on track.
"Three or four more would be enough. If there are too many, the treasures won't be enough to share." Nineteen Mao said seriously, seeming to have thought about it already.
"Good! I did find a few before; we'll discuss it when they arrive."
"Oh? Is Big Brother so quick? You already have candidates?" Nineteen Mao was even more excited upon hearing this, feeling that he had indeed chosen the right person!
Pan Han truly was always one step ahead of others.
"That's right! Four others and I teamed up in the last Trial. Our name is the Hungry Ghost Squad!"
"Damn, that name, it's really long-lived!"
"Hahaha! You noticed too! Let's try to make others starve in the fourth Trial."
"Are those four strong?" Nineteen Mao was quite confident in his own skills and naturally wanted to find some Expert.
"Not really; they're all my defeated opponents!" Pan Han shrugged.
"Then won't recruiting them drag us down?" Nineteen Mao couldn't figure out why he chose some trash!
"So, aren't you just delivering yourself to me? Everything is arranged!" Pan Han looked at Nineteen Mao with a smile.
As if everything was predetermined!
"Uh, alright." Nineteen Mao seemed to understand, yet also seemed not to understand.
"Nineteen! The most important thing in a team isn't who is stronger, but unity." Pan Han saw he was a little disappointed and stepped forward to comfort him.
"Our team may not be the strongest, but I can guarantee it will be the most united!" Pan Han held up the cigarette in his hand again.
Nineteen Mao nodded thoughtfully.
At this moment, there was a knock at the door.
"They're here!" Pan Han stood up and smiled.
