27: What a big ditch

Qin Laoda is a professional at dealing with zombies; his arrangements are orderly and well-distributed.

Currently, the situation is: Qin Laoda's team of five is directly confronting the zombies; Laosan's team is driving to kite them; Erjie's team is sweeping with heavy machine guns; and Cheng Xiao and Pan Han are sniping with precision shots.

With four points of firepower, they unleashed a furious assault, and zombies fell in droves.

Especially those zombies hit by the heavy machine gun, their bodies shattered into several pieces, with some rotten internal organs hanging on the heads and bodies of other active zombies, making the scene truly terrifying!

Qin Zhong's five men were all armed with 9mm submachine guns. These guns are very effective against low-level zombies. With low recoil and high ammunition capacity, they are perfect for headshots.

Among all the slaves, Wei Monk showed exceptional excitement. He shouted "Kill, kill, kill!" while shooting accurately. Pan Han noticed all of his actions.

Pan Han quickly emptied six 10-round magazines. Observing through the scope, it seemed only half of his shots hit the head, with the rest hitting the body. Fortunately, the sniper rifle's power was not small, and zombies hit in the body and limbs experienced a sharp decline in mobility, only able to crawl forward.

Cheng Xiao, meanwhile, maintained an efficiency of one shot, one kill. Pan Han even took the opportunity to observe the female sniper, noting how good her tight pants looked.

In just 3 minutes, over a thousand zombies were eliminated. But there were still more than three thousand remaining.

"Damn it," Qin Laoda growled. His squad's ammunition was almost depleted. Wei Monk had already switched to a shotgun.

The zombie horde was now only about 80 meters from the base.

"Retreat!" Qin Laoda ordered.

The four slaves, hearing the command, quickly loaded their last magazines and rapidly withdrew.

Erjie's heavy machine gun position had already started changing barrels. After several minutes of rapid firing, the gun barrels were red hot.

Laosan and his team also ran out of ammunition and drove back.

Pan Han's shoulder was aching terribly from shooting so much; he could barely hold the gun anymore.

He looked at the approaching zombies, feeling quite anxious.

"What should we do?" Pan Han quietly asked Cheng Xiao beside him.

"Go get the rocket launchers," Cheng Xiao replied, and the two headed straight for the weapon storage area near Erjie.

The single-person rocket launchers they had bought earlier were now coming in handy.

They each grabbed four, and Cheng Xiao quickly taught Pan Han how to use them.

By this time, Qin Laoda and Laosan's teams had already retreated inside the main gate and quickly closed it. Erjie and her team had finished changing barrels, and the heavy machine guns resumed firing.

"Clear behind, fire!" Cheng Xiao loaded a rocket launcher, checked behind her, shouted, and launched the first rocket.

Pan Han followed suit, launching the second.

Two rockets, one after another, landed in the zombie horde.

Boom! Boom! The zombie horde exploded in the middle.

The powerful shockwave knocked down hundreds of zombies, and thousands of explosive fragments decapitated dozens of them.

Pan Han, using a rocket launcher for the first time, cheered excitedly as he heard the distant explosions.

However, there was no time for a second cheer; Cheng Xiao pulled him, and they began their second volley.

At this point, the zombie horde was only 50 meters from the base.

The zombies' characteristic low growls filled Pan Han's ears, and an inescapable sense of oppression enveloped him.

"This is the apocalypse!" Pan Han exclaimed.

Just then, Qin Laoda and Laosan's teams also climbed onto the high wall. They loaded new magazines and began a volley of fire.

Dust flew and fire splattered in front of the zombie horde. The dense firepower formed a barrage.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Another six rockets landed in the horde. Pan Han and Cheng Xiao had already fired all eight rockets.

With everyone's combined fire, there were still over 1,000 zombies remaining.

The distance was only 30 meters!

Some submachine guns were already jamming, but no one cared; they simply discarded them and grabbed new ones to keep firing.

Tat-tat-tat! Da-da-da!

Pan Han had now switched to an assault rifle, joining Qin Laoda's side, and began slaughtering them with abandon.

Cheng Xiao, meanwhile, turned and picked up a rotary grenade launcher, loaded with six 35mm grenades. She furiously pulled the trigger at the zombies.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

In 3 seconds, all six grenades were expended. Cheng Xiao then pulled two grenades from her tactical vest and threw them out.

The distance was only 20 meters! There were still over 800 zombies remaining. They formed a front 100 meters wide and 10 rows deep, making their final charge.

Unfortunately, the base's ammunition was running low. The landmines they had bought earlier hadn't been laid in time and hadn't been used yet.

Pan Han anxiously looked at Qin Laoda.

Qin Zhong's eyes were sharp, and a slight smile played on his lips as he said, "Come!"

After speaking, he made a gesture with his right hand.

Laosan understood immediately and flipped a switch beside him.

Suddenly, a trench over a hundred meters long appeared in the ground in front of the zombie horde. The zombies, unable to avoid it, fell in one after another.

"Wow! What a huge trench!" Pan Han exclaimed in surprise.

He hadn't expected Qin Laoda and his team to have such a trick up their sleeve!

The trench was over a hundred meters long, four meters wide, and more than two meters deep. The bottom was filled with various sharp spikes made of wooden stakes and iron implements.

Most of the zombies that fell in were impaled through and through.

The zombies that weren't impaled also couldn't climb out.

"Qin Laoda, awesome!" Pan Han gave Qin Zhong a thumbs-up.

Qin Laoda smiled slightly and gave Cheng Xiao a look.

Cheng Xiao nodded, turned, picked up a compound bow, lit a flaming arrow, and shot it into the trench.

With a whoosh, the entire trench instantly ignited.

The zombies began to wail, struggling to climb out of the fire. But the trench was too deep, and only a handful managed to climb out by stepping on their companions' bodies.

The zombies that climbed out were also covered in flames. They waved their arms, slowly shuffling towards the main gate. After only a few steps, they collapsed, becoming piles of burning flesh.

This scene once again shocked Pan Han. He felt as if he was witnessing a scene from hell, and he was completely unnerved.

This fire attack basically eliminated all the zombies. The few that didn't fall into the trench were also shot and killed by Qin Laoda's team.

From the zombies falling into the trench to their complete eradication, it took no more than 5 minutes.

Everything was over.

The air was filled with the smell of roasted meat, which made Pan Han feel increasingly nauseous, and he had to clench his teeth to keep from throwing up.

Everyone present watched the fire in the trench slowly diminish, and no one spoke.

The silence on the high wall was eerie.

"Qin Laoda, look!" Cheng Xiao suddenly pointed into the distance and said to Qin Zhong.

Qin Zhong picked up his binoculars and looked in the direction Cheng Xiao was pointing.

Two zombies were limping away in the opposite direction, supporting each other.

"Those must be First Level Zombies. Those two old schemers ran off as soon as they saw things going south," Qin Zhong told Pan Han.

Pan Han also picked up his binoculars to observe. He noticed that these two First Level Zombies had grayish muscles and tattered clothes, but their running posture was no different from humans. This was the first time he had observed mutated zombies, and it reminded him of the Whisperers from The Walking Dead.

"Two old schemers! What now, should we chase them?" Pan Han asked Qin Laoda.

"Don't chase them; there might be an ambush. Let's go down and clean up the battlefield."
