19: The surveillance camera worked

It had to be said, Yan Xiaoli's driving skills were truly impressive. She drove both fast and steadily, maximizing the M5's performance. Pan Han, sitting in the passenger seat, even felt a bit nervous.

Upon arriving at the shared apartment, Yan Xiaoli easily parked the car into a narrow gap, which genuinely made Pan Han envious.

"You can be my driver from now on," Pan Han said after getting out of the car.

"Sure, but I'm expensive. Can you afford me?" Yan Xiaoli replied.

"How much do you earn a month from acting now?"

"Very, very little. Maybe a few thousand yuan."

The two chatted as they went upstairs.

"A few thousand yuan? I can afford that," Pan Han said.

"Acting is my career; I'm happy to earn little. But to be your driver, a few thousand yuan definitely won't do," Yan Xiaoli stated.

"Then how much do you think is appropriate?"

"At least 30,000 yuan a month, I'd say."

"Alright, I'll consider it!" Pan Han thought that when he started his company, he'd need to hire an assistant, and Yan Xiaoli was a good choice.

"Then you consider it. I'm going to take a shower first," Yan Xiaoli said, heading to her room to change and prepare for a shower.

After Pan Han returned to his room, he first checked the monitor.

Damn it, there was an alert!!!

Pan Han quickly opened the screen to see what was happening.

The footage showed a Black-Clad Man taking pictures of his window with a phone, and later, he even switched to an SLR camera.

"He's even using an SLR to take pictures? What's he trying to do? What does he want to see clearly?" Pan Han muttered to himself.

He checked the time again; it was shortly after he had left the house.

He clicked the screen to zoom in on the Black-Clad Man, who was a rather sinister-looking fellow, clearly not a good person.

Pan Han took out his phone, pointed it at the screen, and took a picture of the Black-Clad Man's appearance.

"Could it be that woman who bought the car, sent to cause trouble??" Pan Han wondered.

However, he dismissed his idea. Such a second-generation rich person would likely figure out the address and come directly to cause trouble. It was unlikely for her to continuously send someone to stake out and photograph him.

"If it's not them, then who could it be? I haven't offended anyone. It can't be that dog Li Long, can it?" Pan Han was already starting to overthink. After all, he was a young graduate encountering such a situation for the first time, so it was understandable to be a bit flustered.

Just as he was lost in thought, his phone suddenly rang.

"Hello?" Pan Han saw it was an unfamiliar number.

"President Pan? I'm Wang Cheng. Do you remember consigning valuable items with us a few times before?" Manager Wang asked.

"Oh, Manager Wang, is there something you need?" Pan Han was a bit puzzled.

"Nothing much, just wanted to ask, you haven't been here for a few days, has the problem been resolved? If not, you're welcome to continue patronizing our business. Recently, the boss has been putting a lot of pressure on me, and I'm visiting every client. Please forgive me. If you don't want to consign items yourself, friends are also welcome. Introduce them, and we'll give you a rebate then," Manager Wang said.

"Oh, I see." Suddenly, a lightning bolt flashed through Pan Han's mind!!!

Could it be that Manager Wang targeted me because of the times I pawned gold before??? His call was too strange. So, he decided to test the other party.

"Manager Wang, to be honest with you. Yesterday, one of my creditors contacted me, saying a debt was due and I needed to prepare the money," Pan Han said.

"President Pan, you clearly do big business. It seems your previous business expansion was quite significant," Manager Wang commented.

"Manager Wang, thank you for the reminder. I'll prepare my belongings today and come find you tomorrow," Pan Han said.

"Oh, my, this is truly seizing the opportunity! Thank you, President Pan, for supporting my humble business. I'll be waiting for you at my shop tomorrow," Manager Wang said with great gratitude.

"No problem, no problem at all," Pan Han replied.

After the two hung up.

Manager Wang's lips curved into a faint smile, and he then dialed a number: "Tiger? He should have goods at his place tonight. Keep a close watch and find a chance to act. If absolutely necessary, eliminate him and leave no traces."

"Understood, Boss," Tiger said in a low voice.

"Hmm, a small-time Beijing drifter. So much gold, and he even bought a luxury car. If it's not illicit goods, what else could it be? Why wouldn't I take it? Save it for New Year's?" Manager Wang thought to himself.

After Pan Han hung up, he was 90% certain that Manager Wang was problematic. The Black-Clad Men were likely sent by Manager Wang to investigate him. He had deliberately shown a weakness just now, saying he would prepare his belongings tonight, to lure the other party out.

Pan Han pondered for a moment, first adjusting the monitor's angle to point at his car. Then he found his backpack, took out five gold bars, and put them inside. He went downstairs with the bag and walked to his car.

He deliberately appeared to be struggling, slowly and laboriously placing the backpack into the trunk, making sure to look left and right as if checking for anyone.

After finishing his act, he quickly went back upstairs and lay on the bed, waiting for the monitor to alarm.

Sure enough, less than five minutes later, the alarm went off.

This time, Pan Han secretly peeked his head out and looked down.

He saw a minivan parked next to the M5, and three people got out of it. The leader was none other than the Black-Clad Man.

The three men circled the M5, looked it over, and then immediately got back into their vehicle, driving about 100 meters away before stopping.

Pan Han held his breath and continued to observe. After about ten minutes, he didn't see them move again.

"They didn't leave. Are they planning to act tonight?" Pan Han checked his watch; it was 5 PM.

"Pan Han, what are you doing?" Yan Xiaoli's voice came from behind him, startling Pan Han.

"Huh?" Pan Han spun around. He found Yan Xiaoli standing in the doorway wearing a silk nightgown, her two prominent breasts completely unconcealed.

"You, you finished showering?" Pan Han asked.

"Yeah, what are you doing? Staring blankly downstairs," Yan Xiaoli replied.

"Just looking at the car. It's a new car I just bought, so I'm a bit fond of it and wanted to look at it a bit more."

"Hmm, your car is indeed nice. How about I treat you to dinner tonight? To thank you for picking me up," Yan Xiaoli suggested.

"Sounds great! Now that we have a car, we can go anywhere we want to eat," Pan Han recovered his composure.

"Then let's go to the suburbs for iron pot stewed fish. I know a farmhouse owner whose place is next to a reservoir. The big fish they just caught are incredibly fresh and delicious."

"Alright. It's only 5 o'clock now. By the time we get there, it'll probably be dark, perfect for eating fish," Pan Han said.

"Same old rule, I'll drive. I didn't get enough driving in the city just now. I'll go back and change, then call the owner to reserve a table," Yan Xiaoli said, then turned and left.

Pan Han stared intently, the silk nightgown clinging tightly to her buttocks, fully revealing her curves.

Goodness, she wasn't even wearing underwear.

Actors truly aren't people anyone can be!

However, Yan Xiaoli's suggestion was genuinely good. He estimated that those three men would definitely follow them. Then, in the sparsely populated suburban wilderness, once they made their move, Pan Han would simply kill them and toss them into his space.

At 5:30, the two drove off.

Sure enough, the minivan followed them.

Yan Xiaoli, naturally unaware of the situation, drove wildly on the highway, with the stereo blasting loudly.

Cold wind stirs fine rain, blurring my vision; wind and rain unveil my memories.

I'm like a small boat searching for a harbor, unable to forget you.

Accompanied by Wu Bai's song, the two cars, one in front of the other, headed straight for the suburbs.
