135: Food Processing Plants

The moment he opened his eyes, Pan Han found himself in the back seat of a maybach.

"Privacy glass is truly great!" Pan Han looked around; there were a few people strolling outside, and if you didn't press your face against the window, you couldn't see inside.

His phone had just turned on, and a barrage of messages popped up.

He quickly scanned them, relieved that there was nothing urgent.

Only Wang Cheng's message caught his attention.

"President Pan, you haven't forgotten what we talked about before, have you?"

Pan Han slapped his forehead. He had promised him some time ago that he would give him the remaining 2 million yuan after returning from his hometown, but he had completely forgotten.

He checked his spatial ability; this time, he had only brought back about 500 grams of gold from the apocalypse, which wasn't even enough for one transaction.

"Forget it, I'll just give it to him first." Pan Han sighed and transferred 2 million yuan to Wang Cheng.

A few minutes later, Wang Cheng sent a message: "Money received, thank you, President Pan."

After reading the WeChat reply, Pan Han got out of the car and headed straight for his home.

Pushing open the front door, his Second Aunt, Second Aunts Husband, and his parents were all playing mahjong.

His Second Aunt looked full of vigor, not at all like someone who had just returned from the brink of death.

Seeing Pan Han return, the four greeted him, then immersed themselves back in the joy of mahjong.

Having experienced the brutal fighting of the apocalypse, Pan Han felt a bit disoriented looking at the scene before him.

At this moment, he was a little confused about which world was real.

He paced to the balcony, silent, smoking one cigarette after another. After several cigarettes, he gradually recovered.

"Alright! Time to work!" Pan Han extinguished his cigarette, forcefully pulled himself back to reality, and suddenly blurted out.

He looked at his watch; it was only three in the afternoon, still early.

So he called his maternal uncle and asked him about the food processing plant.

From his maternal uncle's end, he could hear the roar of machinery and the clamor of people.

It turned out that the processing plant had already had its trial run that morning.

Pan Han didn't waste words; he directly told his maternal uncle to wait for him, as he would be there immediately.

"Mom, Dad, Second Aunt, you don't have to wait for me for dinner tonight. I'm going to talk to my maternal uncle about the processing plant. You all have fun!" Pan Han bid farewell to his family, got into his maybach, and drove straight to the address his maternal uncle had given him.

Half an hour later, he was already at the processing plant.

"Nephew, you've come at a good time. Our equipment debugging is almost done." His maternal uncle led Pan Han to the conference room.

"I see, Uncle. You've worked hard, and you're quite fast. What can our factory produce?" Pan Han offered his maternal uncle a cigarette.

"Quite a lot! Flatbreads, steamed buns, those go without saying. We can also produce canned meat, canned fruit, canned vegetables. We can also produce sausages, soda, so much more!" His maternal uncle said with a proud expression.

"Very good. Then I'm placing an order now."

"Alright! My dear nephew, what are your requirements?"

"5,000 flatbreads daily, 5,000 steamed buns daily. 2,000 boxes of canned meat daily, 2,000 sausages daily. 2,000 boxes each of canned fruit and canned vegetables daily."

Pan Han briefly calculated the expansion rate of Dawn Base; this level of supply could meet the daily food and drink needs of 5,000 people. Once that number was exceeded, he would ask his maternal uncle to increase production capacity. As for the rice and flour he had stockpiled earlier, it would likely be quickly consumed through exchanges.

"Huh? That much?" His maternal uncle was stunned to hear about such a large quantity of supplies. It would be about seventy to eighty thousand a day, and over 2 million a month.

"Not much, not much. Uncle, you calculate how much it will cost per month, and include your profit as well." Pan Han waved his hands repeatedly.

"If you include profit, it'll probably be 3 million a month."

"That much?" Pan Han had only calculated the number of people, not the cost. Hearing that figure, he also felt it was a considerable amount.

3 million a month, that's 36 million a year. His current funds would definitely not be enough.

It turns out maintaining an army is so expensive!

"Uncle, do this: for the canned meat and sausages, add more starch. For all fruits and vegetables, use the cheapest seasonal ones for production. Also, all packaging must be the simplest. Don't print any brands or production dates. Additionally, vacuum-pack the flatbreads and steamed buns." Pan Han could only ask his maternal uncle to cut costs.

"Huh? My dear nephew, what are you trying to do?" His maternal uncle was a bit confused. The lowest cost was understandable, but no packaging? That wasn't according to regulations!

"Uncle, don't worry about it. Just do as I say. There's only one requirement: it just has to be edible. Cut costs on everything else." Pan Han almost said that it wouldn't even matter if people died from eating it. The people in the apocalypse ate expired food and were fine.

"My dear nephew, you can't go down a criminal path! I'm your own maternal uncle; I can't let you go astray!"

"Haha, Uncle, don't be nervous. I recently got a big order from Africa. People there can't even get enough to eat, so a lower cost means they can just eat their fill. Don't worry about taste, packaging, and so on." There was no other way, so Pan Han started making up stories again.

"Oh, I see! Alright then, I'll get it down to 2 million a month for you. I'll just take about a hundred thousand in profit." His maternal uncle felt a little relieved upon hearing this.

"Okay, I'll transfer 6 million to you first. We'll adjust the production capacity after three months, depending on the situation." Pan Han felt that in three months, Dawn Base would probably have around 5,000 people.

"Great! Thank you, my dear nephew! Oh, right, where should the finished products be transported to?"

Pfft!

He had completely forgotten about transportation. There's no way he could just move it directly into his spatial storage from here!

Pan Han's mind raced. It seemed he would have to rent another warehouse.

Fortunately, his hometown was not far from the port by the sea. If worst came to worst, he could rent a warehouse by the sea.

"Uncle, just help me rent a large warehouse in the seaport area. Then, arrange for regular deliveries there."

"Alright, don't worry about that. I'll tell you the address then."

"Okay, Uncle, I'll transfer an extra 200,000 to you." After saying that, without waiting for his maternal uncle to speak, Pan Han directly transferred 6.2 million to him.

Upon receiving the text message, his maternal uncle's face beamed with a smile he could no longer suppress, and he insisted on keeping Pan Han for dinner.

Pan Han made an excuse about wanting to go back and check on his Second Aunt's condition and did not stay.

When he returned home, his Second Aunt and his mother were still playing mahjong.

"Second Aunt, how is your health?" Pan Han saw her looking radiant and asked with concern.

"It's great! Everything's fine, it's like I'm 20 again!" His Second Aunt said, beaming with joy.

"That's good, that's good!" Pan Han was very relieved to hear this.

"Son! Can I discuss something with you?" Pan Han's father suddenly said to him with a serious expression.

"Huh? Dad, go ahead."

"How about you go make dinner? We won't be stopping for a while." His father suddenly changed to a smiling face.

"Pfft!" Pan Han almost burst out laughing.

I, a dignified Commander, am supposed to cook?

Hmph, Dad, you probably don't know how awesome I am in another world, do you?

"How about I treat you all to barbecue? I see there's a roadside barbecue stall here. After so many years in the capital, I've forgotten what it's like to eat skewers outdoors." Pan Han had a sudden idea.

"That's great! We haven't had it in a long time either." Pan Han's mother heartily agreed.

"Then let's go, no more playing." His Second Aunt suddenly felt hungry when she heard about barbecue.

So the family of five got into the maybach and headed straight for the roadside barbecue stall.

After driving for a while, everyone noticed a barbecue restaurant with the largest stall set up outside its entrance.

"Second Brother's Barbecue!" Pan Han looked at the sign and read it aloud.

"If I don't grill you 20 large lamb kidneys, I wouldn't be worthy of this name!" Pan Han thought to himself, parking the car nearby.

"This is the place!"
