371: It's hard to find a pilot.
For a full half hour, Asiba remained in a state of excitement. She carefully played with every toy, clutching the instruction manual and studying it incessantly. Her gaze would occasionally dart toward Pan Han, making his kidneys twitch uncontrollably.
Asiba picked up a toy that looked like a microphone and waved it back and forth in front of Pan Han, wanting to try it out right then and there.
Just as Pan Han was wondering how to refuse, Qin Zhong and Wu Disheng came to request an audience.
"Saved." Pan Han quickly told Asiba to go to the room and play by herself, then went downstairs to the living room to meet the two of them.
"Oh, Old Qin, Old Wu, you two came at just the right time." As soon as they met, Pan Han gave them both a big hug.
This left the two of them looking completely bewildered and very nervous.
"Sit, sit. Have a smoke." Pan Han affectionately pulled them down to sit and talk.
"Commander, I'm here to report to you that we've found five people who can fly fighter jets." Qin Zhong lit a cigarette for Pan Han, then made his report.
"Oh? That's great. What's their situation?"
"Do you still remember the Colonel from the neighboring X City?"
"I remember. We even went there to trade for a lot of weapons."
"Right, he had a few pilots under his command, and we've tracked them down."
"Are they reliable?" Pan Han's main concern was the issue of loyalty.
After all, the air force was too powerful. If the personnel weren't loyal and ended up shooting at him later, that would be troublesome.
"Commander, don't worry. The treatment we offer is much better than the Colonel's. They don't want to leave now. As soon as they heard we were looking for pilots, they all volunteered." Qin Zhong patted his chest, saying he could stake his military career on it.
"Good, excellent. But it might not be enough." Pan Han blew a smoke ring and said with a smile.
"What?? My Commander, five pilots aren't enough?" Qin Zhong and Old Wu widened their eyes in unison.
You have to understand, in the apocalypse, fighter jets were exceptionally precious. Take Hanoi Province, for example; they didn't have a single one.
The other provinces weren't necessarily any better off.
Five pilots meant five fighter jets!
What kind of resources would it take to have that many?
Unexpectedly, Pan Han actually said it wasn't enough!
Exaggerated! Terrifying! That's just absurd! Holy crap!
"Commander, just how many planes do we actually have?" Old Wu couldn't help himself and summoned the courage to ask.
"Take a guess." Pan Han found his inexperienced reaction somewhat amusing.
"Ten?" Old Wu bit his lip, trying to push the number as high as he dared.
Pan Han shook his head slightly.
"Fifteen??" Old Wu stomped his foot and added another five.
This was the limit of his comprehension.
In the apocalypse, planes were almost impossible to find, even with money. Not even when Pan Han looked to Mo Li had he managed to get a single one.
"Old Qin, you try." Pan Han still shook his head; he wasn't going to give Old Wu another chance and switched to the other person.
"Could it be thirty?" Qin Zhong estimated based on combat situations. That many planes would be enough to support the campaign against the Three Provinces.
"Let me tell you, there are 24 fighter jets, another 24 armed helicopters, and a large batch of transport planes." Pan Han laughed; this feeling was truly great.
Qin Zhong and Wu Disheng stood there in a daze, unable to speak for a long time.
Now, Pan Han was a god in their eyes!
"However, these planes are a bit different from those in the apocalypse; their range is relatively short. Old Wu, you'll need to study them when the time comes."
"Yes, Commander! I guarantee I will complete the mission." Wu Disheng stood up immediately and saluted.
"Commander, even if the range is short, that's fine. Having them is better than not having them." Qin Zhong's eyes almost welled up with tears.
With an air force, they could save the lives of many brothers.
Before the ground advance, they could bomb the area first, and then coordinate with armed helicopters for precision strikes.
Small to medium-sized bases with fewer than 3,000 people could be wiped out in one go!
Who would dare to act tough against them!
Those large bases with over 10,000 people, or those built within military fortresses, might still have a fighting chance when facing an air force.
But their mobility would be completely inferior, and Dawn Base could attack however it pleased.
"So, you two must hurry up with the pilot situation!"
"Yes, Commander, we understand." The two of them were under immense pressure now. With the Commander being so capable and bringing in so many planes, if they couldn't find pilots, the fault would be huge!
They looked at each other, feeling the weight of the responsibility. Not a moment could be wasted, so they immediately rose to say goodbye.
Just as Pan Han sent the two off, Cheng Xiao returned.
"Why didn't you come find me when you arrived?"
"You were busy with your own things, I didn't dare to disturb you."
"Tch, don't put on an act. What were you playing with little sister Xi Ba in secret?" Cheng Xiao leaned down and sniffed him, but other than the smell of tobacco, there was nothing special.
"I'll give you some advice: don't go upstairs right now. Asiba is up there, and I'm afraid it might not be good for you," Pan Han said with ill intent.
"Tch, my good sister, could she possibly be bad for me?" Cheng Xiao glanced upstairs and faintly heard a woman's happy laughter.
"Believe it or not." Pan Han curled his lips.
This only piqued Cheng Xiao's curiosity, and she headed straight upstairs.
Seeing her go upstairs, Pan Han quickly ran out; he didn't want to be dragged up there to be a "conscript" later.
He had only run a few dozen meters when Cheng Xiao's startled cry echoed in his mind.
"Good sister, how about we do it tonight?"
"No, no, no, the Commander is still here; we should use him first. If that doesn't work, then we can use these. How about that?"
"Haha, you still want to get me? Not a chance." Pan Han made up his mind; he wouldn't go back even if he died.
Since he wasn't going back, he might as well find someone to chat and kill time with.
He had just seen Qin Zhong and Old Wu, and he hadn't seen the other brothers in a long time, so he decided to go check on them.
So, Pan Han made a show of inspecting Old Five's monitoring room.
He also ran over to Old Six's place to chat for a while and smoked a cigar.
Finally, he simply took the Mountain Top Rabbit out for a stroll.
"Squeak, squeak!" The Mountain Top Rabbit had been in the middle of making little Rabbits, just about to launch the final offensive, when Pan Han grabbed it by the ears and dragged it out.
Pan Han looked at the dense swarm of little Rabbits before him and frowned: "Damn it, you've already birthed so many, yet you're still so active. Come on, keep me company for a stroll."
The Mountain Top Rabbit wiped itself off and reluctantly followed Pan Han as he wandered around.
However, the reproductive ability of the Rabbit was truly shocking to Pan Han.
Only a few months had passed, and the Mountain Top Rabbit army had already exceeded 3,000.
They consumed a massive amount of food every day; this couldn't go on like this.
"Mountain Top Rabbit, you need to control your numbers, otherwise I won't be able to afford to keep you all." Pan Han stroked the Rabbit's head and said affectionately.
"Squeak." The Mountain Top Rabbit looked helpless; there was nothing it could do, as Rabbits were born to reproduce.
"If the Rabbit's ability could be applied to humans, there would be hope for this world." Speaking of which, Pan Han suddenly realized something.
Why can't humans reproduce, but Rabbits can??
"Lie down!" It was as if Pan Han had discovered an incredible secret, and he tackled the Mountain Top Rabbit.
"Squeak, squeak!" The Mountain Top Rabbit struggled violently, but it was no match for an Intermediate Evolver.
Pan Han spread the Rabbit's legs and carefully studied its secret structure.
"Holy crap!"
