490: Planting the Sun
If it weren't for Godzilla's reminder, Pan Han might not have thought of this question so quickly.
Since it brought it up, let's sit down and have a good chat.
"Sure." After saying that, Pan Han conjured another giant cigarette in his hand.
If someone gives him an inch, he is willing to give back a foot.
Two cigarettes for a secret; that's not a bad deal, is it?
Seeing this, Godzilla didn't look overjoyed; instead, it actually furrowed its "brows."
Unfortunately, it had no eyebrows, and its bare, dry skin wrinkled together, making it look even sadder.
As a massive smoke ring rose into the air, Godzilla began to tell the story of the past.
"There were a total of eight people in the first batch to participate in the high-level Evolution Potion experiment."
"If you're talking about who had the best outcome, that would be me. The other seven didn't make it."
"Did you turn into Godzilla from the very beginning?" Pan Han asked, patting its belly.
"Not at all. After I survived, I remained in human form for a long time."
"The first generation of high-level evolvers were very unstable; their abilities fluctuated wildly. But none of them could control the laws of heaven and earth."
"After my evolution was successful, headquarters arranged for me to undergo various tests."
"I remember at that time, I could fly for at most three minutes, and no matter how I practiced, I couldn't break through that limit."
Godzilla flapped its giant wings a few times as it said this.
"Old La, you just said the others didn't make it. Did they die right then, or did they die slowly later?"
"Four died on the spot, and the other three died a few months later."
"So, the highest leaders of the Twelve Palaces were actually using you as test subjects for their drugs."
"That's right. Without us, there wouldn't be those bald guys now, and naturally, there wouldn't be you."
Pan Han took a deep drag of his cigarette and sighed, "It seems calling you a senior isn't an exaggeration."
"Kid Pan, the scent on you is different from those bald guys. You must be a third-generation high-level evolver."
"Are you saying that I was also used as a test subject?"
"In my opinion, the Twelve Palaces won't stop iterating. With a third generation, they will definitely go on to create a fourth."
...
At this point, both fell silent.
Pan Han looked at his own body; he could already destroy the heavens and the earth, so where else was there to evolve?
What does the Twelve Palaces really want?
If it meant wiping out all the zombies, Pan Han could easily do that now.
Is that not enough?
"Does the Twelve Palaces know you're still alive?"
"Hmph! Later, I suddenly mutated and slowly transformed from a human into this form. They recorded the entire process. In the end, they put me into the ocean."
"It seems they know."
"How could they not know?"
"But why did they stop caring about you?"
"Kid Pan, guess what they used to keep me?" Godzilla suddenly asked in return.
"Ah, that's right! What do you actually eat?"
Pan Han looked through Godzilla's body and discovered that it actually had no digestive system; instead, a ball of hot fire was hidden inside its body.
This fire flickered rhythmically, growing larger and smaller.
But when he tried to look more closely, his divine sense couldn't get in.
"Eat? Eat what! Look at how many fish died around us while we were fighting just now. If I ate, how could these things still be around me!" Godzilla rolled its eyes at Pan Han and said in a muffled voice.
"Hmm, that's right. You don't rely on eating to sustain your life."
"There is a reactor inside me. You should be able to see it."
In fact, Pan Han had already guessed this answer, but he hadn't dared to be sure.
Although growing a reactor inside the body didn't exceed the scope of Pan Han's understanding, it was still too exaggerated.
"So, the Atomic Breath and Burning form you used just now are all powered by this reactor?"
"That's right. However, I only know the energy comes from here, but I don't know how the energy turns into an attack. I still don't understand the principle to this day."
"Heh!" Pan Han gave a bitter smile.
He could utilize the laws of heaven and earth, but he also didn't understand the principles. He only knew that when he used them, he could make his words reality.
Perhaps, after reaching a certain realm, being oblivious is the way to go. Forgetting oneself, forgetting the laws, forgetting the heavens and earth, and completely merging with each other is the only way to do as one pleases.
"Since you're so powerful, why didn't the Twelve Palaces keep you?" Pan Han pulled back his thoughts and continued to ask.
"I want to know too. But no one told me." Godzilla looked toward the direction of the Twelve Palaces and sighed.
"Even you don't know? It seems the intentions behind the Twelve Palaces are massive!" Pan Han muttered to himself; he thought about himself, realizing he might also be a pawn of the Twelve Palaces.
"But it doesn't matter anymore. I'm more comfortable in the ocean. Before, I had to have tubes inserted and take various drugs every day. Now I can swim wherever I want, and with wings, I'm planning to go see outer space."
Godzilla cast its gaze toward the sky again, squinting its eyes to examine the dim sun.
"Old La! The ocean is so big, isn't that enough for you to swim in? I think I should call you Old Wave."
Ever since Pan Han scanned the entire map, he finally understood how big 438 Planet really was.
The surface area of Blue Star is only 510 million square kilometers, and the land is about 150 million square kilometers. And 438 Planet is at least 500 times the size of Blue Star!
Isn't tens of billions of square kilometers of ocean enough for a Godzilla to swim in? You could swim until you die and might not even see the end.
"That's different. Although it's big here, there's an end to it eventually. I'm not happy here."
"Old La, your standards are a bit high. You're actually talking about happiness. Who here can be considered truly happy?" Pan Han disagreed with its point of view.
Happiness and where one can go don't have much to do with each other; it's more of an internal factor.
"Then are you happy?" Godzilla raised its head and stared at Pan Han, asking.
"Me? To be honest, my joys, angers, sorrows, and happiness vanish in an instant now. Most of the time, I'm just calm."
"Then how do you know what kind of happiness I need?"
Seeing Pan Han show off, Godzilla snorted heavily.
"I don't know." Pan Han asked himself; he couldn't truly understand a Godzilla.
"Whether on the seabed or on land, neither makes me happy. Ever since a reactor appeared inside me, I've loved the sunlight."
"So, if I can fly into outer space, I should be able to sunbathe in peace."
After saying this, Godzilla glanced at the sun again, as if that were the direction of its home.
"That doesn't sound like a very high requirement." Pan Han also liked sunbathing; the turbidity of the apocalypse sometimes made his chest feel tight.
That's why he set up a barrier above Dawn Base to separate the clouds.
"For you, perhaps it's not difficult."
Godzilla flicked away the giant cigarette butt and spat fire from its mouth to light a second one.
"I can help you create a sunny zone."
Pan Han also flicked away his cigarette butt and pointed to an island a hundred miles away.
"For real?" Now Godzilla wasn't calm anymore; it didn't expect Pan Han to offer help on his own.
"I've already tried it at Dawn Base; I'm not lying. How about that island? If it's okay, you can go there to sunbathe from now on."
"If you can do it, I'll follow you from now on."
"Good, it's a deal!"
"It's a deal!"
