404: Avery Island
The battle had finally ended.
Aside from Pan Han, thirteen members of the Knight Order had fallen in battle, and among them was his Ellie!
Two destroyers, one amphibious assault ship, and one supply ship from Eagle Country had all sunk.
1,129 people were killed, and 38 escaped back.
The Eagle Country Department of Defense and the Presidential Palace were all silent.
This operation was kept strictly confidential throughout, and very few people knew about it.
It was neither authorized by the United Nations nor approved by Congress; the President had deployed the Marine Corps directly.
And now, the entire force had been wiped out.
It was absolutely absurd!
What the hell!
"How am I supposed to explain this?" The Eagle Country President, who had quit smoking for ten years, couldn't help but ask his aide for a cigarette.
Without looking, he put the filter in his mouth. The aide saw this and hurriedly helped him turn it around before lighting the cigarette.
The room was silent; no one knew how to explain it.
Under normal circumstances, they would have definitely gone to war immediately.
In the entire world, no one dared to secretly wipe out over 1,000 Eagle Country soldiers and still manage to escape unscathed.
Unless it was Eagle Country itself that attacked secretly and got counter-killed.
Unexpectedly, this actually happened today.
"Mr. President, I have a suggestion. Would you like to hear it?" Seeing his boss at a loss, the aide spoke up immediately.
"Speak!"
"How about we say it was sunk by the Dragon Country? That would be a perfect excuse for an all-out war!"
"Slap!" The President didn't hesitate to slap him and said, "Do you want to start a world war, you bastard?"
"Mr. President, aren't we going to take down the Dragon Country sooner or later anyway?"
"Slap!" Another slap!
"We're doing just fine as the world's hegemon; why would we want a war?"
"Oh! Then what do you suggest? I'll get it done."
"Slap!" A third slap!
"If I knew what to do, what would I need you for? Am I paying you for nothing?"
"Please calm down, Mr. President. I have a second suggestion." The aide, whose head was buzzing from the three consecutive slaps, hurriedly spoke up.
"Go on."
"We can just say it was done by a terrorist organization in the Myanmar Northern Region. That way, we can pressure the Myanmar government and enter with a legitimate excuse. Isn't that Pan Han causing trouble in the Myanmar Northern Region? We can go against him."
The hand that was hovering in mid-air dropped down, and the President narrowed his eyes to carefully consider the plan.
After a cloud of smoke drifted by, he nodded and said, "Feasible. Let's do it."
"It just so happens that the Dragon Country has major operations in Myanmar; we can use this opportunity to disrupt them."
"And that Pan Han, thinking he can honestly develop the Myanmar Northern Region? Dream on!"
"Mr. President, should we slowly get rid of the Knight Order?" Seeing that he had avoided another slap, the aide was naturally happy and couldn't help but ask one more question.
"Slap!" The fourth slap finally came after all.
"How are you going to deal with the Knight Order? They don't support me, which isn't scary at all. But if they want to get rid of me, are you going to run for office in my place? You damn idiot!"
"But we've already offended the Knight Order!" The aide asked with a mournful face, clutching his swollen cheek.
"Not necessarily! Offending the leader doesn't mean offending the entire Knight Order." The President suddenly revealed a cold, sinister smile.
"Huh??" The aide widened his eyes, not quite understanding what the President meant.
"A group as large as this, if it were truly monolithic, that would be a miracle." The President stubbed out his cigarette, his eyes becoming sharp.
"It's time for a change!"
...
Pan Han stood outside the villa, saying nothing.
He just silently cleaned up the remains; he didn't know why, but he knew he absolutely couldn't stop.
Otherwise, he would suffocate!
Half an hour later, he had collected some of the remains of the bodyguard team members and piled them together.
He bowed silently and began to dig a pit nearby.
Suddenly, a raindrop fell and hit his face.
Pan Han touched his cheek and looked up at the sky.
The next moment, the raindrops began to increase, and slowly it started to pour.
"What a wonderful rain! This world has too much sin. It should be washed clean!"
Pan Han muttered to himself and continued to dig the pit.
He didn't know how deep to dig; he just kept digging, as if he wanted to exhaust all his strength.
Gradually, the sky began to brighten, and the sun could already be seen where the sea met the sky.
A huge deep pit had already appeared before Pan Han. He looked up at the rising sun in the distance and suddenly noticed a few black dots.
Gradually, the black dots grew larger, and Pan Han let out an "Oh": "They've arrived."
A few minutes later, three private planes roared over Knight Island.
"Look! That's the Leader!" The Bodyguard Captain alerted everyone after spotting Pan Han.
"Great, the Leader is okay!"
"Let's land immediately!"
Pan Han looked at the planes and, knowing it was the Bodyguard Captain and the others, ignored them and continued to dig the pit.
He still had strength left, so he absolutely could not stop.
Ten minutes later, the Bodyguard Captain arrived with dozens of bodyguards.
"Leader, we are late to the rescue!"
The dozens of strong men looked at everything before them and knew that something terrible had happened.
Although Pan Han was fine, the losses were heavy.
However, Pan Han frowned; he had originally wanted to bury Ellie here as well.
But in front of so many people, taking out her head was absolutely impossible.
Ellie's final appearance could only be kept for himself.
People in this world were not worthy of seeing it.
"Leader!"
Seeing that Pan Han had no reaction, the Bodyguard Captain knelt on the ground first, and the others followed suit.
"Get up, all of you. Help me bury everyone." Pan Han waved his hand, not paying much attention.
The dead did not suffer a loss; Pan Han would avenge them tenfold or hundredfold, but Ellie would never come back.
"Everyone, hurry up." Seeing this, the Bodyguard Captain quickly directed everyone to help.
If the Leader was willing to speak, that was the best outcome!
It was better than just standing there like idiots.
But when everyone actually started working, their moods instantly became extremely depressed.
It wasn't that they hadn't seen dead people, nor was it that they hadn't seen the bodies of their own people.
It was just that the piles of remains at the scene showed the brutality of last night's battle.
What exactly had the Leader and the brothers gone through?
Finally, all the remains were placed into the pit.
Pan Han still didn't speak and took the lead in filling the pit.
The bodyguards used whatever tools they had; if they didn't have any, they used their hands, following suit.
Half an hour later, a small mound appeared before everyone.
Pan Han picked up a small wooden stick and used his dagger to carve on it: Tomb of the Fallen Members of the Knight Order.
Then he inserted the wooden stick into the grave mound and bowed three times deeply.
The Bodyguard Captain and the others fired their guns into the sky to commemorate their fallen comrades, their wails endless!
"Leader..." Putting down his gun, the Bodyguard Captain wanted to say something to Pan Han.
But he was stopped by him: "Bodyguard Captain, you take people and stay here to handle the aftermath. I need to calm down."
"Yes, Leader!" The Bodyguard Captain stood at attention and saluted.
"By the way, from now on, this place will be renamed Ellie Island."
Pan Han suddenly remembered something, his mouth twitched, and after thinking for a long time, he still said it.
"Ellie? By the way, where is she?" The Bodyguard Captain finally remembered, having not seen her for a long time.
"Her? From now on, she will be on this island."
After saying this, Pan Han left despondently, and everyone knew that Ellie was gone.
