372: Hilltop Rabbit is paralyzed

Upon seeing the secret of the Mountain Top Rabbit, Pan Han couldn't help but shout out loud!

It's so big!

You wouldn't be able to tell, but this usually obedient and gentle Rabbit actually has more than meets the eye inside!

"It seems like it got bigger after the mutation."

Pan Han was stunned and didn't notice when Rabbit broke free from him.

It ran far away and started squeaking at Pan Han.

"Second Sister, bring a few people, grab some test tubes, gloves, and tissues, and come find me. Fifty meters outside the main gate. Immediately, right now!"

Pan Han took out his walkie-talkie and hurriedly called for help.

He didn't know why, but he felt this matter was extremely important.

"Yes!" Upon hearing how serious Pan Han's tone was, Second Sister dropped her work and rushed over with three assistants.

"Wh... what's wrong, Commander?" A minute later, Second Sister appeared in front of Pan Han, panting.

"It's like this..." Pan Han leaned into Second Sister's ear and whispered, his eyes leering lewdly at the Mountain Top Rabbit as he spoke.

The Mountain Top Rabbit felt a cold gaze sweeping over its body, and it shivered in fear.

Its two blood-red eyes were almost squinted into slits.

"Understood! We'll get right on it." After the ins and outs were explained, Second Sister nodded, then turned and walked to the Mountain Top Rabbit with her assistants.

"Rabbit, don't be afraid. Lie down," Second Sister said with a smile, her voice soft and gentle.

"Squeak, squeak, squeak!" the Mountain Top Rabbit cried out, "Don't come over here!"

Hearing this, Pan Han also walked over, his expression grave as he said to Rabbit, "Kid, you'd better cooperate honestly. Otherwise, I'll castrate you."

In fact, he had already considered the idea of castrating the Rabbits.

It had only been a few months, and the population had already recovered to over 3,000. If he didn't control it, it wouldn't be long before he wouldn't be able to feed them.

Although he liked Rabbits, now was not the time for them to compete with humans for food.

How many people in the country were still going hungry? What about the whole world?

In Pan Han's eyes, humans always came first.

That's called the rules!

After being scolded by Pan Han, the Mountain Top Rabbit instantly quieted down; it rarely saw Pan Han lose his temper.

Furthermore, it could feel Pan Han's powerful pressure, so the Mountain Top Rabbit could only lie down quietly and close its eyes.

It muttered to itself, making huffing and puffing sounds.

Second Sister and the assistants covered their mouths to stifle their laughter; they also found it somewhat comical.

But since the Commander had given the order, they had to take it seriously.

Second Sister put on gloves, had the others hold down the Mountain Top Rabbit, and began to examine its little privates.

"Whoa!" Second Sister was almost sick from the stench of its little privates.

Furious, she pinched Rabbit hard, "Don't you ever take a bath? It stinks to death."

After saying that, she took out alcohol and tissues to wipe it clean.

Pan Han found the scene quite amusing, so he took out his phone to take pictures, then zoomed in to admire them with great enjoyment.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk! I didn't expect you to be that kind of Rabbit." Pan Han sighed sincerely, then lit a cigarette and leisurely watched Second Sister and the others work.

"Rabbit, relax! Just think about living happily with those female Rabbits." Second Sister began her work.

"Squeak!" A strange sensation invaded the Mountain Top Rabbit's brain.

Shame, pleasure, itchiness—it was so complicated!

Two minutes later, there was still no reaction, and Second Sister was so tired that sweat beaded on her forehead.

Her arms were sore.

"Switch!" Second Sister couldn't take it anymore; she sat on the ground, exhausted, and shouted.

"Pfft!" Pan Han burst out laughing. He never expected to be doing this kind of thing in the apocalypse!

It's f***ing insane!

But in order to uncover the secret of why humans couldn't reproduce, he had to bite the bullet and do it.

We're doing scientific research here, everyone be serious!

Another assistant immediately took over, shouting slogans.

Two minutes later, another assistant switched in.

Two minutes later, another assistant switched in.

...

A full ten minutes later, the Rabbit was finally done. Its head lolled to the side, its tongue stuck out long, and its whole body collapsed to the side.

Second Sister used a test tube to collect a glob of green liquid and held it above her head to observe.

Pan Han was also puzzled; why was it this color?

"Second Sister, is this normal?" Pan Han asked, leaning in.

"A normal Rabbit's should be milky white, opaque, sometimes slightly yellowish, and usually has a distinct fishy smell. This color is definitely not right." Second Sister said with a serious face.

"But it's not a normal Rabbit to begin with." Pan Han glanced at the Mountain Top Rabbit collapsed on the ground.

"Hmm, that's true. We'll take it back to study first. Please take care of Rabbit, Commander." The Dawn Squad all had this trait: they only had eyes for their work. Once serious business came up, they didn't care about their leaders.

"Alright, hurry up. Leave the rest to me." Pan Han waved his hand, letting them go back.

He paced over to the Mountain Top Rabbit and patted its head, saying, "Are you still okay?"

"Squeak..." the Mountain Top Rabbit said weakly.

"You're still faking it, huh? I'm giving you a strict order: the number of Rabbits in the base cannot exceed 5,000. If there's one more, I'll kill one!"

Hearing this, the Mountain Top Rabbit jolted and immediately stood up.

"Squeak?"

"What's wrong? I mean what I say! If you guys still want to breed, go find your own food!"

"Squeak, squeak, squeak!"

"Begging is useless. Dammit, isn't 5,000 enough for you to breed? Do you want to take over the world?"

"Squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak!"

"This is an order, execute it."

"Squeak!" Upon hearing the word "order," the Mountain Top Rabbit immediately stood up and saluted.

Pan Han nodded with satisfaction. Dawn Base was good for this one thing: as long as Pan Han gave a clear order, everyone and every Rabbit would execute it unconditionally.

"Go back and carry out the order. If there are any problems, I'm holding you accountable." Pan Han stubbed out his cigarette and tapped the Rabbit's head.

...

Dawn Base hospital didn't have much analysis equipment, and Pan Han wondered if, if Second Sister couldn't handle it, he should just send it to the Twelve Palaces.

Thinking of this, he got up and walked back with the Rabbit.

It was lunchtime, so Pan Han let Rabbit go back to eat. He went to the cafeteria, planning to grab a bite.

Previously, Pan Han, Cheng Xiao, and Asiba had decided to only distribute basic rations from now on: two cockroach cakes per person per day.

It just so happened that it started today. One at noon, one in the evening.

However, the cafeteria would provide a vegetable soup, so it seemed some compromises were made during implementation.

But these were small issues, and Pan Han didn't pay much attention to them. After all, vegetable soup could supplement some vitamins and improve digestion, which was understandable.

The base members were each holding a large piece of cockroach cake, eating in silence.

As soon as they saw Pan Han enter, they all stood up to salute him.

Pan Han waved his hand, signaling everyone to continue and ignore him. He then picked up a plate and went to the window to get a cockroach cake and a bowl of vegetable soup.

This was the responsibility of being a leader; he had to lead by example when it came to the rules he set.

Pan Han wanted to eat the cockroach cake in front of everyone a few times, so that everyone felt he was the same as them.

Only then could the basic ration policy be continuously implemented.

After all, if the Commander had started eating it, what else could anyone say?

He was everyone's god! If he could lower his stature, what else were you going to complain about??

Previously, Pan Han would stay far away whenever he heard of cockroach cakes. And he ordered that no one was allowed within five meters of him.

But now he had to bite the bullet. Pan Han looked at the cockroach cake on his plate.

It looked pitch black, and some cockroach legs were clearly visible.

"Pan Han, you can do this. What is this, anyway!" He cheered himself on in his heart, then picked it up and took a fierce bite.

"Hmm??" After taking a bite, Pan Han discovered the taste was actually okay. It was a bit like the roasted silkworm pupae from his hometown.

The aftertaste was a bit heavy, but eating a big mouthful actually gave him a sense of satisfaction.

If he had just finished physical labor, this thing could even be considered good rations.

Pan Han ate half a cockroach cake in one go and finished the bowl of vegetable soup.

Everyone in the cafeteria was looking at him, intentionally or unintentionally.

Seeing the Commander eating the cockroach cake in big bites, they all applauded. Before long, applause came from the corner, and then the whole cafeteria erupted into enthusiastic applause and constant cheers.

Pan Han held the cockroach cake above his head for everyone to see, then swallowed it in two more bites.

The crowd became even more frantic, shouting, "Long live the Commander!"

When all is said and done, leading by example in following one's own rules is the way to go!
