204: Whoever prays will be killed

Pan Han sat on the ground, lost in thought for a long time.

The recent battle had left him somewhat exhausted.

Thinking about the forty floors he still needed to clear, he suddenly felt overwhelmingly tired.

He felt as if he had returned to his own world, clocking in for work, a 996 corporate drone!

Fighting monsters, leveling up, accumulating points, and exchanging for equipment!

Pan Han was immersed in fatigue and confusion, and he began to ponder the reality of this apocalypse world he was in.

He started to suspect that all of this was just a pre-arranged game, a virtual world.

“Am I just a manipulated character? Constantly executing tasks, facing challenges, fighting for points?” Pan Han’s mind was filled with questions.

He felt like a chess piece arranged by the Twelve Palaces, constantly subjected to Trials and tests, as if fighting for their objectives.

But the people and things around him were so real!

Were Cheng Xiao and Qin Zhong not truly real?

Suddenly, Pan Han felt the surrounding space compress towards him, choking his neck, making it impossible to breathe.

“Ugh, so uncomfortable!” Pan Han covered his head with one hand and continuously scratched his neck with the other.

After more than ten seconds, he fainted.

...

He only woke up half an hour later.

Looking around, there was a pile of vomit next to him, emitting a foul odor.

“Why did I even throw up?” Pan Han wiped his mouth; this scene was somewhat unexpected for him.

Shaking his head to clear it a bit, he stood up and stretched, his limbs were fine, just a little nauseous.

“Damn it, I hope I wasn't poisoned! That black mist was pretty sinister.” Pan Han believed that merely contemplating the reality of the world would definitely not make him faint, so he could only suspect the black mist.

Suddenly, from the sixty-first floor, a chanting sound drifted down.

Pan Han’s eyes flashed as he stared upstairs, listening carefully.

“It sounds like a choir, but I’ve never heard the scripture they’re chanting.”

“Looks like there are a lot of people up there!”

“Those damn Twelve Palaces, they wouldn’t be seeing that I haven’t moved in a while and are urging me to act, would they?!”

“Hahaha! Pan Han, Pan Han, spanning two sessions, you still can’t escape various entanglements!”

Pan Han muttered to himself.

But even though he was cursing, his body involuntarily headed towards the sixty-first floor.

Ah, humans! As long as there is desire, one cannot escape shackles!

Upon reaching the sixty-first floor, it was densely packed with nuns dressed in pristine white robes.

Each knelt on the ground, hands clasped, praying devoutly.

From each of their mouths came scriptures Pan Han couldn’t understand; the sound from earlier was coming from them.

After Pan Han came up, none of the nuns looked up at him; they continued their chanting.

“How bizarre!” Pan Han felt an abnormal tightness in his chest upon hearing the chanting.

Ding! Bracelet notification: Each zombie on this floor is worth 100 points!

“I didn't realize they were worth 100 points!” Pan Han roughly counted, there were at least over 300 nuns here.

Adding them up, that’s at least 30,000 points!

Pan Han quietly picked up his dagger, came up behind a Female zombie, and with one strike, slit her throat.

Then, Pan Han quickly jumped away, carefully observing the reactions of the other nuns.

But no one paid him any attention; they continued chanting.

After observing for a few minutes, Pan Han saw that the nuns still had no intention of stopping.

So he slit a few more throats; some bodies even fell onto the legs of nearby nuns, yet there was still no reaction!!

Pan Han cautiously walked into the Female zombie crowd, trying to get their attention, but the nuns seemed to have no reaction to his actions.

“These Female zombies don't seem like real enemies; they seem to be mechanically carrying out some kind of task.” Pan Han pondered.

Pan Han carefully continued to move among the Female zombies, while also paying attention to the surrounding environment and any unusual signs.

Suddenly, he noticed a portrait on the wall, depicting a mysterious woman, cloaked in a long robe, holding a scepter, with profound eyes.

Pan Han was drawn to the portrait; he felt that the image of this woman had some connection to the prayer scene on this level.

He decided to continue forward, trying to find more clues about this woman.

Finally, Pan Han found a door, with a line of text carved on it: “Door of Enlightenment.”

He pushed open the door, and a bright light surged from behind it; Pan Han resolutely stepped into it.

The scene before him immediately blurred; he felt as if he had entered another dimension, a mysterious and ancient space.

In this space, Pan Han saw the woman from the portrait; a solemn and sacred aura emanated from her.

“Welcome to the Door of Enlightenment, Pan Han.” The woman’s voice resonated in Pan Han’s mind.

“Who are you, and how do you know me?” Pan Han was completely bewildered!

“I am the Enlightened Mother!” the woman said softly.

“Damn, there’s actually a Holy Mother hidden here! What do you want?”

“I want you to spare us!”

“Killing you can get me 30,000 points; what’s the benefit of sparing you?” Pan Han never expected her to come pleading.

“If you spare us, you will receive blessings! The nuns outside will all pray for you!”

“What good is prayer?” Pan Han was speechless.

“It can make you happy!”

“Pfft! What if killing you is the only way I’ll be happy?”

“Then you can try!”

“Are you threatening me? Sorry, that won’t work. Prepare to die.”

“Young man, for your own good, you should listen!”

Hiss!!!!!!!!!!

A sound of gushing blood.

“So slow, why waste words!” Pan Han finished off the Enlightened Mother with one strike.

The body separated, blood splattered everywhere, covering Pan Han’s face.

Turning to leave, he said nothing and immediately started hacking at the nuns outside.

Ten minutes later, he finally got those 30,000 points.

The sixty-second floor was a group of male monks; the situation was similar, they also advised Pan Han not to kill them, saying he would find happiness.

Pan Han was enraged at the sound of it and spent another ten minutes hacking all of them to death.

He gained another 32,000 points.

Sixty-third, sixty-fourth, sixty-fifth,... Pan Han kept killing until the sixty-ninth floor.

All nine floors were filled with various praying people.

Their words were all the same: as long as Pan Han spared them, he would find happiness!

Pan Han, however, killed faster and faster, becoming more and more excited, his eyes bloodshot, his body covered in blood.

After clearing nine floors, his points surged by 300,000, bringing his total to 520,780, ranking 9th!

The entire broadcast room went wild!

They witnessed another miracle: gaining 300,000 points in less than an hour!

Compared to the previous Big Brother, he was no less impressive.

Cheng Xiao looked at the leaderboard, unsure whether to be happy or worried.

Because she instinctively felt that a huge danger awaited Pan Han ahead.

This feeling was very strong; her heart was pounding so fast it felt like it could jump out of her mouth.

Pan Han tossed away his dagger, dual blades, and machete.

Because all these weapons had been dulled from his hacking and could no longer be used.

“So what? What if I killed all of you?” Pan Han looked at his points, very satisfied.

He was now only 80,000 points behind the Big Brother.

After a short rest, Pan Han went directly to the seventieth floor.

As soon as he arrived, a deep voice came: “Young man, thank you!”
