38: Endless energy
After passing three trials, Pan Han officially became a low-level Evolutioner. He looked at Qin Zhong and the other two, indicating he wanted to go downstairs for a walk.
The three accompanied him out of the villa and into the yard.
Pan Han first felt that his perception had become stronger.
He could hear movements over a hundred meters away, and every sound within about 50 meters was clearly audible.
This feeling was very strange, making him temporarily unsure how to process the massive amount of information.
His vision also improved; although the sky was darkening, he could still see very distant objects clearly.
Pan Han was very excited, curiously looking around, much like a nearsighted person who had surgery and suddenly threw away their glasses, experiencing complete clarity.
"Lord Pan, you can also try your strength; you'll be surprised," Cheng Xiao said.
Pan Han followed her suggestion and walked over to a large stone.
This stone weighed at least 300 catties. Pan Han first tried to push it, and the stone instantly lifted a corner.
It's so easy, Pan Han thought. So he tried to lift it with both hands.
Indeed, he lifted it smoothly.
"Hahaha!" Pan Han laughed happily.
He caught his breath slightly, then performed a clean and jerk, lifting the large stone over his head. He held it steadily for 5 seconds, then threw the stone forward.
He threw it 5 meters away.
"I've become Wu Song!" Pan Han turned his head and said to everyone with a smile.
"Who is Wu Song?" Everyone looked bewildered; they naturally hadn't heard of this character.
"He's a legendary war god from my hometown. He has immense strength and can kill tigers with his bare hands," Pan Han explained.
Everyone nodded and applauded.
Pan Han felt an endless stream of energy within him, unable to stop.
He then walked to the main gate, which was 6 meters high. Pan Han surveyed it, took a running start, and shot out with a whoosh.
He ran seven or eight steps, getting faster and faster, and just as he reached the gate, he pushed off with his back foot, suddenly springing up and grabbing onto the top edge of the gate. He was just a little short of being able to jump straight over.
"Roar, roar, roar!" Pan Han clung to the gate, roaring at the wilderness!
"Lord Pan, we specifically raised this gate, precisely because we were afraid low-level Evolutioners could leap over it. You're already doing very well!" Qin Zhong shouted to him.
After hearing that, Pan Han jumped down from the gate, landing easily, with no aching back or sore legs.
"Open the gate, I'm going out for a couple of laps."
"Lord Pan, safety first, it's better not to go out."
"It's fine! Cheng Xiao, go to the sniper position in the gatehouse and help me keep an eye on things."
Cheng Xiao returned to the house, took out her sniper rifle, and ran to the sniper position.
Everything was ready, the gate opened, and Pan Han dashed out with a vigorous stride.
He decided to run a hundred meters first to test his speed, so he started with full effort.
Pan Han felt the wind whistling past his ears, objects rapidly receding behind him, and he wasn't even breathing heavily.
In just about 5 seconds, Pan Han had sprinted over a hundred meters.
He didn't stop, continuing to run.
At this point, the running legs commonly seen in comics appeared. Pan Han's legs were so fast they were indistinguishable, only a blurry flesh-colored circle could be seen, with a trail of dust following his feet and behind him.
200 meters, 10 seconds; 300 meters, 15 seconds; 400 meters, 20 seconds.
After running 400 meters, his speed didn't decrease at all.
At this moment, the walkie-talkie crackled, followed by Qin Laoda's voice: "Lord Pan, how about a comprehensive experiment?"
"What do you mean?"
"Cheng Xiao, fire a shot 20 meters to the right of Lord Pan."
"Received."
"This again? Make sure you aim well, don't miss," Pan Han cautioned Cheng Xiao.
No sooner had he spoken than he felt a whoosh behind him; his ears twitched, and he could clearly perceive an object rapidly flying from his rear right.
The bullet struck the ground 20 meters from Pan Han, kicking up a puff of dust.
Indeed, all information was within his grasp.
"Shoot a little closer," Pan Han gave the command himself, then turned and ran back towards the base.
Cheng Xiao received the order, adjusted her angle, and fired another shot.
"Good heavens, this time it's only 10 meters from me."
As soon as the bullet was fired, Pan Han could determine its landing point based on the sound.
This evolution was so miraculous; how much ability had humanity been suppressed from before! Pan Han thought, now he was like a war machine.
Another shot was fired, this one heading straight for Pan Han's face.
Holy crap, is she trying to kill me? After sensing the bullet's trajectory, Pan Han quickly made a sharp right turn, followed by a ground roll, dodging the bullet.
"Lord Pan, don't worry, this one is a rubber bullet, there's no danger. It's just to test your comprehensive perception and movement abilities," Qin Zhong explained. It seemed they had done this sort of thing often before.
Pan Han, upon hearing this, couldn't get angry, so he quickly ran back to the base.
This round trip was about 800 meters. After running, Pan Han felt completely refreshed, only slightly sweaty, and his heart rate remained largely unchanged. This showed the full power of the Evolution Potion.
Upon his return, Second Sister handed him a towel to wipe his sweat, and Qin Zhong opened a bottle of cola for him.
"How was it? How do I compare to you all?" Pan Han was still quite concerned about the evolution's effect.
"Much better than us, it's definitely a peak state," Qin Zhong said.
He was also a bit puzzled as to why Pan Han's evolution effect was so good.
Actually, it was very simple: no matter how poor Pan Han's physique was, it was still better than those who ate cockroach biscuits during the apocalypse. There was no reason for evolution to make one worse.
Cheng Xiao, carrying her sniper rifle, came down from the gatehouse and walked over to Pan Han, congratulating him on evolving to the peak realm.
"This is the third time you've pointed a gun at me!" Pan Han said to Cheng Xiao with ill intent.
"What's with that talk? At most, I'll let you make up for it later," Cheng Xiao said, tossing her hair, not caring at all.
"This Seventh Sister, she's not even avoiding people when she talks now!" Second Sister said, laughing heartily.
Everyone in the base heard it and burst into laughter as well.
"Lord Pan, there's one last test," Qin Zhong interrupted everyone.
"Oh?"
"Tonight, let's drink to our heart's content and see if your alcohol tolerance has increased!"
"Great! Then tonight, we'll use alcohol to test for toxins and see if I'm immune to all poisons!"
So, everyone began preparing dinner.
The slaves also had extra food tonight. Upon hearing they would get extra food, everyone cheered, "Long live Lord Pan!"
"By the way, Qin Laoda, what's the progress on the previous tasks?"
"The bodies outside are mostly cleaned up. The automatic weapon stations at the four corners have been set up. Only the wall is left, which will take ten to half a month."
"Good, for the slaves who haven't taken the Evolution Potion, arrange their plan for tomorrow. Remember to leave one of each of the three colors for me."
"Understood, Lord Pan."
After hearing this, Qin Zhong went to find Wei Monk to arrange the work.
Second Sister took Third and Fourth Brother to cook. Sixth and Fifth Brother took people to stand guard.
Everyone agreed to have dinner in an hour.
"Cheng Xiao, take me to the sniper position. I want to try a few shots."
Pan Han remembered the last time he shot zombies; after dozens of shots, his shoulder hurt terribly.
"Please, Lord Pan."
Cheng Xiao led Pan Han straight to the sniper position, loaded a new magazine, adjusted the scope, and taught him some sniping essentials.
Pan Han learned for a few minutes and then started firing.
Bang, bang, bang! This time, he fired all 8 magazines in one go, a total of 80 rounds. He even changed several shooting stances in between.
This time, he felt no pain or fatigue at all, and his hit rate was several times better than before.
"Lord Pan is making rapid progress! You are now a qualified sniper."
Cheng Xiao couldn't help but praise Pan Han's performance.
"Qualified? There's still one target that needs sniping!"
Pan Han, holding the sniper rifle, looked at Cheng Xiao.
Cheng Xiao knew exactly what he was implying, so she bumped him with her hip and said, "Let's do it after a few drinks; no rush."
